    Good news.
These tiller pilots are cleverer than most folks realise. They constantly watches what is happening and the onboard brain will soon start adjusting its behaviour to suit your boat. This is very helpful when the wind and wave patterns fluctuate, as they do. You will probably not even know it is happening. Happy sailing.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I'm pretty happy with how well it works though once the boat is moving over about 2kts. It's nice to be able to leave the helm for a few minutes to cook up lunch or loung around enjoying the ride :)

Like having a second person along that never pees , eats or complains- go Jim tones! Great idea, and execution

Thank you, I'm hoping the weather forecast changes a little, but I've practiced in the rain and I'm ready for it :)

Hey Casey congratulations on your progress & good luck on the challenge . If you search for Richard Ceballos on YT he installed an autopilot on his wr17 . You might like to do a comparison. He also has a rotating boom to reef you sail . I love your channel. Cheers from Australia.

Another great video. Thank you. What is going on with the white line running from the clew end of boom up to mast?

Ah, took me a minute as I made this video a few months ago, but that is a topping lift because I was keeping my boat at the marina and would drop my mainsail when not in use. It's there to keep the boom from falling to deck and to keep the boom out of my way when the sail is down

@@sailingslowmotion ok thanks. I'm new to the WR17; not much experience. I suppose a lazy jack would do the same thing?

Yes, and others have set up a lazy jacks system that works really well for them, and if I was going to leave my boat set up for long periods of time, I would do that too.

hey Casey, just curious do you have a video on your side tiller pvc extensions ? I currently have a WindRider 16 and want to put twin tillers on her. I am here in Lake Wales Fl not to far from ya. Just bought the Windrider and have a new sail coming from Super Sailmakers! Happy I found your channel lover the EC video series!

"windrider 17 upgrades and modifications" has a quick glimpse of it, and it's pretty easy to do on the 17. I'm not sure about the 16. I used 3/4 PVC and with a mini torch lighter, heated up the end then flattened it between two bricks, rounded the edges then drilled a hole. I didn't use any adapters, just bolted it right where the pedal cable attaches and the flex in the PVC let it curve along the hull. Doing twin tillers is a great idea too, as my right forearm gets tired after a long day of sailing. Maybe we can meet up someday and sail ⛵

@@sailingslowmotion Thanks for the info! I was thinking in the same lines as you did, Although I did not think of flattening out the pvc. May I ask why you decided to flatten it? I was planning on just keeping it round and using lock nuts and washers for the attachment. Thanks!!! and yes a meet up sail would be great sometime! Have you ever sailed with the West Coast Trailer sailors squadron?

I just recently found the west coast Trailer sailors on Facebook and joined but I haven't met up with them yet. I will in the future though. As for flattening the PVC, I did that just to use a smaller bolt and make the joint stronger (I think). I'm not an engineer, but my brain liked it flat rather than round :)
