Thanks for this video. I just bought one of the other Windriders in this race (also white) from a gentleman in Port Charlotte, and towed it back north to my home on Lake Ontario in New York state. This race looks like a fun challenge... I'll have to bring the boat back down in a year or two to give it a try. I'll use your videos as part of my "training".
Ahh, you bought SailorKing's boat, that boat has a great setup! You will love it once you learn it for sure. Congratulations and I hope to see you back down this way someday.
Great video!! THANKS! One thing what will help greatly with the WR17 windward performance will be Lee Boards. They'll help reduce your leeway wich results in a much tighter windward course.
Yes, I've thought about that. Even looked up what others have done for Lee boards and thought about making mounts for my spare paddle to pivot down and act as a lee board, but haven't dedicated enough time to getting it done :). Thank you for watching and commenting, it means a lot to get support and ideas from folks like you
Perfect! That's partly why I'm putting this series together, also for myself when I'm older to look back on to remember the experience. I hope it helps you out and gives you the knowledge and confidence you need to go for it
I'm glad I could help paint the picture a little better. I'm looking forward to taking the inside route next year. Hopefully I can video that passage as well as I did the outside
There was a slight shore breeze but you had to stay very close and short tack it. Sometimes I was almost in the breakers talking to people on shore, but I put over an hour on boats that were a mile off. Lasted almost to Stump then died completely about 2 am. SpongeBob
@@sailingslowmotion yeh just not smart enough to do the same from Pine Island Sound to Cape Ramano. Went way offshore from Sanibel and paddled all the way to the Cape. There was some wind along shore judging by the progress competitors made. Not getting any smarter made the same mistake last year.
It's from the beach at Fort DeSoto to Check point one (Cape Haze Marina). It's for folks looking for an adventure but not wanting to do the whole Everglades Challenge

Excellent video. Watched the whole thing from start to finish and was entertained throughout. Looks like a great time!
Thank you, one of my kids said the same thing. I'll be posting a new video each day for the next week, hopefully I can keep up that value :)

Fantastic perspective and info you’re sharing with us. I’m putting this event on my must do list. Thank you!
I hope you get the chance to do it. It was an amazing experience that I will not forget
Great video! The customizations you did are some of the coolest things about the event.
I agree, it was fun setting the boat up for the race. Now that the EC is done, I have to modify it for the Texas 200 :)
I love the video. Its like being on the adventure with you
Awesome episode!! I am wanting to do the EC in the next few years so this is great insight to what it’s like.

Nice! Great video👍
Thank you, I had fun making them :)
good job! looking forward to the next episodes!
Thank you, with the winds being so calm, there isn't much excitement for day two, but the video will be as good as I can make it :). Hope you enjoy it

Ah, I see. I'm glad you found it and we're able to take advantage of it

What is the ultra marathon you were talking about?

You need to get yourself some beach rollers from duckworks. I could launch our 750 Lbs boat solo with them.
I saw a lot of folks with those, looked pretty handy. Next year I want to do the inside route with a kayak. Much easier to launch :)
I deeply admire the paddlers. My lower back could never do it.
