HOW TO LEVEL YOUR LAWN WITH SAND | AND OVER SEED

how to level your lawn with sand? Yeah you read that right. Now that its spring, and the weather is starting to warm up here in eastern Washington, its time for some spring lawn maintenance. I'm going to be correcting the unevenness of my lawn by sand leveling it with a fine screened sand. I find about a 1,000lbs of sand per 1000sqft of lawn to be a good place to start. sand leveling isn't usually a one and done type of process, this is the 3rd time I've done it on this lawn, and it is getting a lot better.After the sand leveling i'll be over seeding my cool season lawn with a three blend perennial ryegrass. I'll have a link down below for the grass seed I used.

I used a toro mower set to the lowest setting 1-1/8" and my thumbnail picture for the video is 6 days later so don't be afraid to do it. Just mow lower over a few mows and doing this leveling over the last couple seasons has really helped me be able to do this. so if yours scalps fairly bad the first time don't worry mine did too. Think about your end game results!👍

Very nice. Exactly what I want to do. How well does seed grow in a sand base being that it is not organic matter?

It does just fine. Both my front and back lawn are grown in sandy loam. My native soil is mostly granite and hard pan clay. I throw down fertilizer frequently so that helps I’m sure. I have a more current video that shows my process a lot better.
