Another cracking vid sir! I was chuckling away when your sleeping bag rolled off down the hill! Loved that finish with you walking off into the mist too! Looking forward to your next adventure! 👍🏻👍🏻
Aye Dave man I did enjoy that one right enough 😆👌🏻 Was fair surprised at the lack of water about considering how wet it had been. Really nice place for a wander I can’t believe it took me so long to go!
Everyone who goes out realises eventually that the weight just has to drop. Glad you found the water there, I was getting a bit of a dry mouth myself during the hunt there. 🏴🔥⛺️
Nice1 Bugsy! Aye I was pretty shocked that all the higher burns were empty, had been raining tons too 🌧️ and I’m delighted now I’ve got a lightweight option to go to, see if I can get up the bigger hills now without my legs falling off 😆 Cheers! 👍🏻 🏕️
Thank you P&B those are kind words. Yes it was about time I sorted out a lighter weight option for the hills, although there’s still a place for the bigger pack too of course. Need those luxuries at times! Am watching your most recent vid and am enjoying it. Very relaxing. Have subscribed to your channel 👍🏻
Great video. I love how vast the area looks. It's a trip how you search for water. Nice with weight savings. It sure does help a lot with the joints or to make room for other comfort items. I dig the Vik 1 and will take it out soon again. The design of the frame and back airflow of your pack looks great too. I've been thinking of trying to fit a kit in my 23L daypack during the warmer months to go even lighter.
There’s usually plenty water in the streams on the hills where I usually go but in this area I was struggling to find any running water at all. Re the weight savings I’ll usually prefer to take 36/37lb on a camp but I’ve been hoping to get a lightweight option together to save my legs and back on the uphills for a while Rod! Thanks for clicking on the vid man 👌🏻
36-37 lbs! Amazed that anyone ever carries such a joint crushing weight in UK hills, when re-ups for food are available almost everywhere. Gear is so light these days that even with the addition of 4/5 days food it isn't difficult to achieve 20/22 lbs and be comfortable and will fed. That said, I have to salute the high degree of rugged fitness and sheer bloody-minded mental stamina it takes to lug that kind of load through Scotlands boggy uplands. You must have the strength of a Clydesdale horse and the obstinacy of a mule to do that. If I ever wanted a trek buddy to share a remote and under supplied route, you'd be my first choice go-to. Good luck and all the best.
Thanks for taking the time to comment Arthur, much appreciated good sir. Might be a bit self flagellation carrying the heavier packs you’re right but sometimes you just wanna bring stuff. Stuff can be heavy. Stuff like multiple beers. A comfy chair. Another beer. You know the craic 👌🏻
Seeing other backpackers unpack their bags is always interesting. Huh... that's what you packed? Haha. Interesting area. Did I hear sheep in the background, or was that your radio?
Thank you so much Debs ☺️ I’m sure that big sleeping bag will be nice and warm though! I’ve not caught your channel before so having a wee watch now. Subscribed 🙌🏻
