- 🇬🇧 Having travelled to weird and distant locations over the last four years I thought it was finally time to visit my own nation, Great Britain. A land with a rich history and as you'll see if you watch this video, some absolutely great people who are as funny and friendly as you'll find anywhere else in the world. Join me and my mate @BackpackerBen as we drive the length of Britain visiting towns unknown to outsiders and where we meet some true characters. Rule Britannia!

I’m currently laying in a hospital bed in Bali with Dengue Fever. I’m from Glasgow and I was a school teacher in Easterhouse up until only a few months ago. I’ve just had 2 of the worst weeks of my life, thanks for putting a smile on my face Mr Bald. Great video 🙏

In 2012, I hitched from Isle of Skye to Granada in Southern Spain, and I can say without doubt that the nicest people I've ever met were the Scots. They're extremely welcoming and helpful. By far the easiest country in Western Europe to get a ride in.
As an Eastern European who grew up and lived in many countries , also been all around the UK and living for the past 5 years in north east of Scotland - hands down best place ever, very special and truly dear to my heart! 🏴

I’m from a posh historic town in Hertfordshire but I know I live in a bubble. To be fair, you really did go to the poorest areas. Blackpool - lowest life expectancy in the U.K.
We should respect the north more as it’s got some beautiful history and the town centres can be very interesting.
BUT, our government(s) have been so cruel towards the north. Zero investment.
And now they punished us and we paid back big time - they voted Brexit cause they’ve got nothing to lose. We lost so much.
Just want to say, after seeing you travel all around the world, looking at different countries through my own judgement seeing you visit Scotland and specifically Glasgow has opened my mind so much more to the fact that we are all just humans trying to live our life’s in peace. Many thanks to the two Benjamins for this classic tour of the UK. It brings back fond memories of the time when I lived in the country as a German expat. I have always been stricken by the North-South divide both parts having their special charms. I’ll have to come back to visit in the near future. And of course Bald managed to slip in a few epic “Soviets” and “mosaics ” 🤣🤣🤣. I can’t wait to see a sequel! All the best to both of you!

As the other comment says, this really doesn't represent what most of britian is. Love Bald, but he chose the shittest places to go, probably deliberately. Avonmouth in Bristol for example, is one of the poorer areas of bristol and is the port / industrial section of the city. Merthyr is pretty famous for being one of the dives of Wales etc.
It's a bit of a shame this is the only glimpse of England you've got. Literally everywhere he visited were what we call the really scummy areas of Britain. There's SO many beautiful places and he didn't visit a single one, for some reason he just focused on the run down areas in economic decline. You should visit the south of England, it really is beautiful I'm places, I promise 🤣

Not representative of the country as a whole, but it does represent how some of the people in that country live.
You usually put subtitles for Slavic people speaking English because they are hard to understand, but as an American I understand them far better than 90% of the people you interviewed in this video haha. Great video though.

Like he said he’s a “southerner”. people up north (north England) tend to look at southerners as a bit uptight, and they think they are better than the people up north. Then he went to Scotland which if you know anything about history you know the Scots don’t really like England for trying to invade them. Also same to in wales, bald is looked at as a snobby type there, (plus the Welsh also hate the English for historical reasons) At worst though he might have caught a punch, he wouldn’t be shot or anything wild like you might expect in say Bolivia where he’s been

We moved to the US in 73 . When I went back to the UK in 2011 for my 50th birthday I was very saddened by what my hometown had become . In the 60's my Derbyshire town was thriving and a great place . Now it's pound shops , boarded up and basically what Bald found in that town in Wales . very depressing .
Sadly much worse now in 2022...
