    I do love a good Carribean Cask finish. Even the Glenlivit CC is really good. This has been one of my favorites here recently and pairs really well with a Daidoff Late Hour

    Balvenie 12 DW is my favorite but the 14 CC is just as good, the Delmore 12 is my preferred if Balvenie isn’t available. Awesome review 👍🏻

    Good luck finding this for $60 to $70. Nope, $80 is more like it. Of course I am writing this well over a year after your review, so price increases would be in the natural order of things. I like this whisky very much. It is a go to, when I want to relax with a nice drink. It's one of my regular choices. I enjoyed your review and have subscribed.

    Hi hello! I’m actually eyeing on the balvenie 14 might go for 12 for it it’s price. But how does it compare to Dalmore 15 and Glendronach 15 revival I believe this two will be more intense on the taste? Longer finishing? Look forward for your reply. TIA 😋

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  3 роки тому +1

      Glendronach 15 is fantastic but $150 in my area. I’d say dalmore 15 is the most ‘intense’ flavor but also about $100 here and I really don’t think it’s worth that. It’s better than many reviewers give it credit for but still jsut okay. However the dalmore 15 is probably the most heavily sherried except for the glendronach but the finish isn’t particularly long

      @@MaltMondays thx bro. Just got my dalmore 15 haha. Have tasted balvenie 12 and Glendronach 12 both are good. GD12 is more intense I should say love the nosing. Yet to taste the balvenie 14 think will go get it real soon

      Saw ur review on Balvenie 15 single barrel sherry cask. In Sg I manage to see 1 bottle at around 200 plus sgd. think it should taste fantastic

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  3 роки тому

      How did you enjoy the Dalmore 15? Dalmore (like Macallan) has a very unique taste that isn’t for everyone but i enjoy it more than some. I just don’t like that they use artificial coloring, chill filtration, and bottle at 40% abv, AND charge a high price. However, now that a lot of their competitors have increased prices, I think they’re more competitive.

    Hi, should I go for this or the glenfiddich 18 ? or the
    Balvenie 12 years double wood ?

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  3 роки тому +1

      I think this is more interesting that the glenfiddich 18. Personally I would buy this and the Balvenie 12 doublewood
      together rather than 1 bottle of glenfiddich 18, but prices will vary in your area. The glenfiddich 18 is definitely smoother and little more elegant but I don’t think it’s quite as delicious if that makes sense!

    I'm looking for a dominant Tobacco nose and finish, but I would like the recommendations to be of a more dry Tobacco rather than sweet Tobacco and the bonus would be an oily finish. So please recommend me some good whisky to try no matter if it's a blend, single malt, or a bourbon.

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  3 роки тому +1

      I haven't had many whiskies that I would describe as having a dry tobacco flavor other than Nikka 17 and 21 (really hard to find) and then stuff from Islay like Bowmore, laphroaig, etc that have smoky profiles however they tend to be more medicinal/ campfire smoky than tobacco smoky but they are in that vein

    Price update: Southern California, Coachella Valley. Costco price is $80 bucks and Total Wine is at the same price point. BevMo has it at 110 fucking dollars which is BS but on “discount” for 90. Local sellers either don’t have it or is about 10 bucks more expensive.

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  2 роки тому +1

      Money aside: 1. Balvenie Tun 1509 2. Balvenie Edge of Burnhead Wood 3. Balvenie 15 single barrel.
      Those first two are not easy to find though, so out of their standard range I would say 1. 15 single barrel 2. 21 yr Portwood 3. 12 Single Barrel

    I’m more of a bourbon guy so my palate is not as defined when it comes to scotch. I do enjoy this one but mine is more sherrie dominant. I have to search for the rum influence. Again, not a huge scotch person so take it with a grain of salt.

    • @MaltMondays
      @MaltMondays  2 роки тому

      There isn’t any sherry used in this whisky, that’s just natural fruitiness from the malt and the ex-bourbon casks. I’d recommend tasting the Balvenie 12 single barrel and the Balvenie 12 double wood side by side to teach your palate how to identify sherry influence in scotch because it is a very different set of flavors from Bourbon. I’m Glad you like it, but yes the rum influence is very subtle!

      Unfortunately some areas definitely have higher prices, and specific bottles always vary a lot since stores can charge whatever they want. I always wish we had Costco in my area, because they get many whiskies for 25-50% less than standard liquor stores.

      I've been dedicated to tasting, loving and teaching others about whiskey and specifically Scotch for 8 yrs. now. Do I know everything? Not by a long shot! But I've had somewhere around 1,000 different whiskies at this point and if I can help guide even 1 person to find an appreciated for a new dram, distillery, or spirit then that's what I aim to do!
