Some of us are getting close to needing new tires, especially in the rear. I did a practice run since I’m at 7,500 miles and will be needing new tires soon. I hope this helps!
I urge you to place painter’s tape on your rim, otherwise you will scratch it.
If you have the stock exhaust, you will need to remove it or rotate it out of the way.
P.S. I can’t recommend the Air Shim highly enough, the process was a PITA without it the first time.

👏 Thanks for the detailed walkthrough, buddy! I finally pulled my Rebel's wheels today and gave it some new shoes... Metzeler Cruisetec's! I couldn't find my shop manual, so I referenced your videos on the front and rear wheels to find the torque specs for the axles and caliper bolts. However, I didn't have your fancy Air Shim, so I spent over 30 minutes screaming, cursing, and skinning my knuckles trying to get that rear wheel wedged back in there. What a ginormous pain in the a$$!
The rear wheel and tire are heavy, and the swingarm has ZERO slack for those axle shims. I used my feet as wedges to hold up the wheel, my hands to steer it diagonally while twisting upward, and my chest to push the axle through the labyrinth of well-lubed orifices in that rear carrier assembly. That's not fun. Not at all. I looked like a third-rate reject from a midget gypsy circus trying to pretzel my feet behind my head! I definitely won't try that again until I get one of those Air Shims! 🤣👍--QM

One thing you may want to note in the video for other DIYers is the retainer clip on the rear brake caliper. Mine fell out with a "ting" and I think I heard the similar sound in your video. So small, it is easy to miss, especially if one uses a drop cloth and no sound when it hits floor -- but a critical part as it keeps the brake pads in place and not rubbing against the caliper.
It also says in the manual to use Three Bond 1521 before putting back on (but this is way expensive for how much you will use and I used the Permtex adhesive which should be similar).

I'm so glad you find them helpful brother! Please be patient when removing and re-installing the wheel, some have reported that the techs damaged the speed sensor and as a result their ABS light came on. You will be very happy with the cruisetecs, i have close to 10,000 miles on mine and they still look brand new!

Hi George! I actually just got my air filter today and I plan on changing it out in the next couple of days! I plan on recording the process if time permits 👍 I'm close to 8,000 as well, the service manual says that it needs changing at 12k, but I'm not waiting that long tbh
I did my first adjustment today and i cant get the right side of the axel the stay centered in the adjustment plate and it goes crooked when i torque the axle 😢

Question, so after thus video do we do chain alignment or chain slack? Whats rhe order 1,2,3?
Hi Mark, after you install the wheel, chain and chain adjusters, start turning the adjusters to take out the slack in the chain, but have the chain alignment tool attached, as you approach the proper chain tension you are looking at the alignment tool to make sure you are turning the adjusters equally on both sides, continue to make fine adjustments until you have the right slack and the rear wheel is aligned. These need to be done simultaneously, as you will experience as you will do it, while you are aligning the rear wheel, the tension will change on the chain. You'll get the hang of it once you start the process. 👍

Hi Jeff, these are the stands that i use, keep in mind that the rear stand will not work with the stock exhaust without some modifications.

Hi There, This exhaust was custom made, basically just a straight pipe, my recommendation is to find a local exhaust shop and have them make one for you!

Hi Nomad! Depending on how you intend to use the bike, the Rebel 1100 can be customized to fit you perfectly. The first thing I would recommend for you if you plan to ride more than one hour is to buy a Corbin seat. The second thing for someone of your height is to consider forward controls so you can stretch your legs a bit. Once you dial the ergonomics to your liking, the bike is perfect for a sport cruiser. It has the best features in the class and the best value at the price, no other sport cruiser comes anywhere close. The rebel is in a league of its own! The best reliability, the best power, the best handling, the best technology, the best best value! I have 15,500 miles on mine with zero problems, and I love more than the day I bought it! My friend rode from the east coast or to the United States to the west coast and back in 30 days on her rebel 1100 manual, and she had zero issues, she had 26,000 miles on her bike. Do you research, try to test ride one or at least sit on one if possible. Ask me any questions brother, I'm here to help! 🤙

@@augieremigio4274 I think I widened it a little, but it's been a while so I forgot.... You can just turn it on its side and hold it down with your foot and pull up with your hands on the other side to widen it slightly. It doesn't need much and the metal is somewhat soft. Also, I added 2 small wooden pieces under the swingarm to be able to use the stand with the stock exhaust, you can see how I did it in the chain adjustment video ua-cam.com/video/0qF0eLEi-M4/v-deo.html
