- Mahindra the Indian giant Automancutfacturer is known for its fun-to-drive yet safe Cars, and in the herd of these safe Mahindra cars, one of the safest is Scorpio N, which has received 5 stars in Global Ncap.
But when Mahindra recently launched this car in Australia
and ANCAP tested scioprio N, it received a really disappointing rating of 0 stars.
But why did that happen?

2-3 days ago I was watching a video on UA-cam about a man who was traveling with his fairly new Scorpio N. He had to loose one of his leg just because the front right wheel came out completely off the car and he had no other way left other than crashing into the guard rail. Like a sharp knife that guard rail went all the way through the front of the car and chopped his leg instantly.
He contacted Mahindra several times before going for that trip because he was having trouble with the car, but they didn't seem to care. They even told him his car was having no issues.
I already took a oath. Never buy indian brand car.

Recently on youtube channel of prakeek singh,
It was reported that a in a scorpioN the front wheel was prone to the accidently detached, the owner went for repair many a times but mahindra didn’t took much care. Once when owner was on highway, the wheel got detached and car collided in the left side silver colored aluminium barricades. The open end of barricades stiked through the car and cut the owner’s leg from knees in milliseconds. Even after such a big accident mahindra bribed police and tried to close the case. Even police tried to convince owner not reporting fir.
In US he would have sued the car maker for $20 million and lakhs of vehicles would have been recalled.

6:07 perfectly put, nowadays people have taken ADAS for granted, and resulting in many serious incidents and near misses. People should be educated more that these are just "assistance" systems, and the whole onus of safe driving falls on the drivers themselves.

You're completely missing the point. ANCAP judges their cars according to Australian conditions. As he said ADAS avoids 60% of road casualties and since Australians have a better range of cars that come equipped with adas or similar features at more or less the same price, they're judging on the fact whether they have the feature or not I don't know if scorpio N has that feature but the 0 stars are very clearly justified
@@vedantjohari7650 id like to add something. The 60% figure is just research. How true it is, noone knows. At the end of the day speech carries little value, be it oral or written. Like it was pointed out in the video, many people just drive carelessly because they knew it has adas features. This happened with abs too, where people just didnt bother much about their brakes because they knew abs would engage in case they didn't brake right. We also know people dont even bother driving when they have tesla autopilot. But yes, i find these new rules odd. At one end i like to see more safety but on the other, it also feels ridiculous to me that somehow adas is a defining point of your safety tests.
Anyway the point is, just because someone says it in numeric terms does not make it true and shouldnt then become the basis for changes and the core of the change.
Indian brands should focus on reliability of their products, now there's a case of a Scorpio N accident where the wheel just came out of the car and due to that the owner lost one of his legs and the car, like after 9 hrs of accident burnt. It's not a single case, there r many with both Mahindra and Tata. They should focus on that...
The problem is quality control which will automatically improve reliability
I feel a factor is aftermarket products too, people add so much aftermarket that you don’t know whose fault it actually is
It's because of wheel spacers..and big alloy wheels which the car is not capable of

Because of these revised norms a sturdy car like Ignis which had scored 3 stars in EuroNCAP and 3 stars in GNCAP has scored only 1 star in the revised norms of GNCAP. The car is the same but the norms wanted 4 airbags and adaptive safety features.

Excellent video bro. Well explained even I was a little taken aback on ANCAP's treatment of Scorpio N Z8L. Everything is clear as day now, though I don't blame ANCAP too much in this instance I do like the Z8L alot.
Moral of the story is :- jaisa market ushi hisab se safety features deni chahiye apne car ko ush market mein bechne ke liye. Scorpio N which are sold in Australian market should get ADAS . Yahan tak ki Scorpio-N ki upcoming pickup wali varient mein bhi ADAS honi chahiye

There are other inputs as well. Like the question you had raised in the last, which is the Negative (-ve) rating. Absolutely Yes. As this would let the consumers to take an informed decision before purchasing their car. Like what are the shortcomings of this car? What can it do well and where it can be a disaster.
It should be made as a safety standard. Infact what Australian NCAP has taken. If we see, we are having ABS, EBD, BA, Airbags, Electric power steerings for more than 2 decades, and we still see soo many accidents. Along with Active safety, passive safety features needs to be considered. I beleive to bring our country's automobile standards, Bharat NCAP should also have something similar to Austrilian NCAP.

Accident because of car defect with divider , not nexon
car is Mahindra scorpioN and issue with driver side wheel fork breaking. Don't blame on divider as such casualties could have been avoided od front wheel didn't break and collide further. This issue is already acknowledge by Mahindra

If we want Indian car manufacturers to do well at the global level then the Indian government must have to add ADAS safety features to the BharatNCAP rating process.
The components for ADAS safety features are expensive right now, but if it becomes mandatory for each vehicle in India then surely the prices of ADAS components will reduce due to mass production.
And the government should also give some concessions to those cars which have ADAS safety features in it, like some reduction in taxes etc to encourage the car manufacturers.
Love this point. There should be lower bracket GST for cars that offer active n passive safety features in lowest variants also

Acc. To the points made by Biturbo media, Scorpio should have got 1-2 stars overall even with ADAS. Not that it's an unsafe car, just that the Aussie standards are high. For India, it's great. Can't wait to see S-presso ANCAP crash test .

On last point, they could add two types of rating green cap and red cap. If a car fails to achieve a single point in positive than how much worst that car is that will be rated in red points for eg just like 5 green best and 5 red worst
Also suddenly they tested it in newly created tests, because of their vested interest in the Australian car market. They should retest all Korean cars also now.

I really want Maruti Suzuki Fronx to be tested by GNCAP!!! I know they will never send it to GNCAP because Suzuki has openly criticised GNCAP for being “UNFAIR” to them.
Fronx is the only good car in terms of design and performance and interiors from Suzuki and if Fronx gets 4-5 stars in GNCAP then my family will buy it.

Gncap ratings are always inferior compared to euro ncap and ANcap not recently but from decade. Dats y majority of indians do not bother about gncap ratings they buy car of their choice.

If you want a car then fronx is a better car to own than it's other counterparts from other companies in terms of the "value for money" it provides. But if you are so obsessed with safety then go for brezza since it's zxi variant comes at the price of top alpha model of fronx. Brezza is sturdy and has a higher stance. It has better global c platform (4 🌟 rated in prev gen vitara brezza) its body shell has also been toughened as compared to its predecessor. If gncap tests it again it will score 5 🌟 for sure.
Fronx 1.0 turbo is a performance monster. It is more of an enthusiast's car than a family one.

For all the commenters saying only adas is the reason, you should read the actual report or watch Sundardeep Singh’s analysis with the report summary. The standards are improving and unfortunately the Indian car manufacturers need to catch up.
