    In early 1946 my 3 Uncles returned home from WW2 to there home near Milwaukee Wisconsin. They went back to work on the farm with my Grandpa along with getting married, raising kids and planning there own lives after the war and the farm. My Uncles were pretty good at poker and together they brought home nearly 2000 dollars from 4 years of poker and sheepshead as they did there part in the war in Europe and the Pacific. They pooled the money and bought Grandpa a new 1946 International pickup and a 1947 International 4 cylinder farm tractor. The pickup was 979.00 dollars and the tractor was about 1450.00 dollars if my memory serves me right. Grandpa kicked in what they were short but the tractor was not delivered until spring of 47. Anyway I learned how to drive at 10 years old in 1957 in that old pickup. As I watched your video memories just flooded my brain. Thanks so much for your efforts getting that old girl going. You did my heart proud. God Bless.

      $2000 in 1946 = $28,440 today. Not sure you can even look at a new truck for less than $45,000. Vehicles sure have gone up way too fast over the years. All that emissions crud the EPS insists we pay for.

    This was so much fun to watch! Took me back when my buddies and me did this. Being a land surveyor I was able to see a lot of properties and find a lot of old vehicles lost and forgotten about. Hidden treasures that were restored and brought back to life. It was a great feeling to hear that engine turn over and watch it move down the road the way it had done 50 years or so ago.. Great times for my friends and me, and these videos help to relive those days. Thanks for posting them!!!!

    What a memory. Dad had a 1947 . We piled seed corn bags on the front fenders and took them to the corn planter. Was a big deal to drive the truck off road on the farm. I don't ever remember any mechanical issues until after I was married in 1976 and we changed a water pump. Lightning struck close and St Elmo's fire danced all over the engine block. Then the tornado showed up and took part of the barn roof.
    Unbelievable that Dad sold the truck without asking me if I wanted it!

    I've heard a couple times listening to you guys mentioning "checking to see which direction things were going" in relation to whether you smack a piston one direction or another. Fellars, the motor is static when turned off, so it does NOT matter what direction it rotates when trying to break it loose. it can turn in both directions when turning it by hand or by hammer. It only matters - direction wise - when it is running. Smacking a piston to loosen in the opposite direction is "was" turning while running is perfectly fine. Brutal, but fine. This is no different than smacking one that was on its way down prior to when it stopped... and then rusted in place.
    Love the show! Glad you restored yourselves.

  • @Donnymac21
    @Donnymac21 Місяць тому

    I noticed you guys heated up the spark plugs to get them loose, which works very good. An older friend of mine showed me years ago how to remove stuck bolts and I have had very good luck with it and I thought I'd share. You heat the bolt up as you did and once you get it hot with the torch then pour water on the bolt to cool it fast, kinda shocks the bolt from hot to cold, normally comes off with ease. you guys do amazing work I love watching how you get these old trucks and cars running after sitting for so long, It's kind of unbelievable how easy you guys seem to get them running. keep up the good work, wish my Dad was still around, we used to work on a lot of different projects together and it was great to spend that quality time with together.

    I sent this video to a great friend in Boise ID, who happens to be an Old Iron addict and Lord lover just like you folks. He mentioned a tip that makes a lot of sense when trying to get a "stuck" engine to turn over after settin' for so many years. He recommended getting one of the back wheels up off the ground and rocking it back & forth with the trans in gear to pop the engine loose. Taking the plugs out and squirting a generous amount of ATF in each cylinder to let soak while chopping the truck out of the woods would certainly help as well. Give it a try on your next stuck engine rescue and let us know how it went. Stay safe, stay handsome and to the girls, stay pretty . 👍 ✌

    I had an old KB-1 retired Idaho Bell Telephone truck I bought in 1976 while I was a student at WSU. (Washington State University) It was a pretty solid old truck 45 years ago. It was good enough that I drove it across the state from the Idaho border to the Puget Sound without any issues. I used a quart of 30 weight oil on the trip (plus some healthy doses of STP) It had a three speed on the tree. I learned how to double clutch on that truck. It was happiest at about 50 miles an hour.

    Amazing work. I've only just discovered your channel and am blown away by how you've turned the International around. I can only hope that the owners who you've returned it to do the right thing and properly preserve it this time ariund. What a survivor.

    I had a 1947 KB-1 that I bought from the original owner. It was in great shape but I couldn’t get it to run in the limited time that I had to work on it so I sold it to someone else who had time to get her back on the road. Good memories

    Watching that truck come to life with the help of the forklift is like releasing a rescued animal into the wild. Beautiful, bout makes a gearhead cry seeing that.

    My hats off to you. Faced with a similar situation. I think I might have just stood on the fender & soaked it down with a 100% urine solution.

    I am amazed. I drove a 1950 Cheverolet pickup for awhile and the gas gauge is the only thing that didn't work on it. It was a great truck.

    You know, I have no idea if God is a car guy, but He has surely helped you guys get these old girls up and running more times than not. Every time that I hear you Praising God for your successes, I know that He will continue Blessing you all as you Give God the Glory for each Blessing.
