- Rescuing a old REO truck that has been sitting for 35 years. Jacking it up, installing wheels on it, using 3 excavators to drag it to the street and load it on a trailer. There should be a follow up video of it once its running looking better.

10/2023 Update: This truck is still sitting in this guys front yard.
Been here a third time waiting for that restoration lol
Нельзя так отворачивать , на раскаленном до красна . Резьбу может задрать , металл мягким становится .
Надо нагреть потом водой охладить и потом отворачивать.
Has He done anything to it? Maybe pics?

hi.. Im 80 years old.in my mid 20s i met an extraordinary man by the name Rio Hovey. he had worked at Diamond Reo in Lansing mich for38 years. he named his daughter Reolia. A fine man, became a good friend, we shared a love for gelogy and gems. his crystal cluster collection would rival any in museums. he had searched and dug and collected all of them himself.. he was also an avid and miraculous gardner. seeing that old truck brought all the memories of Rio Hovey flooding back.. A wonderful gift. thank you..
An REO tanker is a one of a kind national treasure. These things are only seen up close in museums today or in rare historical photos. Hammering loose the back left axles wouild have made the tow job easier. When that guy has the truck restored and even manages to get it running and driving, he will be the envy of all truck drivers everywhere. REO trucks are extremely rare.
Where there is a will, there is a way. Great video.
When I was a teenager (late 1950's) I drove a 1953 REO in the hay fields on my dad and uncle's farm.
My aunt who turned 100 last year still has the truck.
I thanked I've seen all of your videos. And I do mean ALL...I miss Levi like he was my own. I've had every color lab possible. Best dogs ever. *Fifteen years ago I used to see a slightly older one from the Amtrak at Tarry Fuel in NY*
*That guy probably knows where to find every part you need.*
Cool old truck those old REO's are neet!
Maybe you could contact him with a ouija board.
One summer in the 70’s I stayed with my uncle in Canada. My objective was to improve my English and maybe help him at his quarry. My 2nd day he put me in a Diamond Reo 3 axle dump truck with. 6 cylinder gas motor. I was to spread gravel and that meant chaining the gate. The truck would wheelie every time ! Small cab I remember. I think the transmission was 5 main (2 levers) and 3 auxiliary. Thank you Andrew for sharing.

That tanker was probably used for dust control in what appears to be a big sand/gravel pit from that drone footage near the end of the video. May have been near the end of it's useful life when put to work there. When I was a young boy, I used to love seeing an REO on the road, they were old timers even back in the late 60's -70's and rare to see . . . . lol. That was a lot of work to get'r outa there. Good job guys! I hope to see it in it's next life sometime.
I loved watching your vid. about the old barn. You could kinda tell that there were living quarters in it. Loved watching you clear the land first. I love that you are careful, thorough, ya get down to business, no messing around, I saw that you’re doing a series of video. You are excellent , in your knowledge of how to fix and restore anything. Very impressive for a young man.

Well that was quite the accomplishment getting that Reo out of the woods and onto the trailer! When you got it back to your yard and opened the door an old saying came to mind; "She's a beauty Clark" and like one of you said it's got keys and start her up!😃
Oh WOW! 🤩
It must bei a 1960/61 Reo C-400 Series "Cold Comet". A absolut rare truck!
And the old whiskey in the tank.
There can only be a smell ;-)
A great temporary diversion from the misery going on in the world. I’d love to know how the truck ended up where it did. A great team effort, thank you for sharing.
That truck is definitely worth cleaning, painting and hopefully making it run with the original engine. I'd probably go to aluminum wheels and radial tires for comfort. I wouldn't go overboard but definitely some sandblasting and suspension and brake upgrades for safety. A cool piece of history and I believe they made the first pickup truck.
Why, so the aluminum rims go bad while you are driving it, bend or crack in half and cause an accident? Never put aluminum rims on a semi, ever, you are asking for trouble.
@@MrSaturdayNightSpecial I think you should share your knowledge with Peterbilt Trucks. Seems they are offering aluminum wheels as an option on new trucks. Peterbilt Motors Co. recently announced that new Alcoa Ultra aluminum wheels manufactured from a MagnaForce alloy that provides additional strength and lower weight are available as a factory-installed option for all Peterbilt heavy-duty trucks.
Heroic work. It would be hard not to feel discouraged moving that much dead weight. Lots of knowledge, talent and teamwork here.

*JESUS himself Prophesied (PROPHET MOHAMED) in BIBLE with Title of (UPCOMING ANOTHER COMFORTER) & As (PRINCE OF THIS WORLD) --- (Hence Accept ISLAM now) ---*

*John 14:25* These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you

*John 14:30* Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the *PRINCE OF THIS WORLD cometh* and hath nothing in me
*John 15:26* But when the *COMFORTER* is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me

*John 16:8* and when *HE* is come he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment
*John 16:12-13* I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Spirit. They fail to realize that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (p.b.u.h) departs then the Comforter will come. The Bible states that the Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (p.b.u.h), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (p.b.u.h) was being baptized, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h).The Spirit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy also refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)

The REO Motor Car Company was a Lansing, Michigan-based company that produced automobiles and trucks from 1905 to 1975. At one point the company also manufactured buses on its truck platforms.
Ransom E. Olds was an entrepreneur who founded multiple companies in the automobile industry. In 1897 Olds founded Oldsmobile. In 1905 Olds left Oldsmobile and established a new company, REO Motor Car Company, in Lansing, Michigan. Olds had 52 percent of the stock and the titles of president and general manager. To ensure a reliable supply of parts, he organized a number of subsidiary firms like the National Coil Company, the Michigan Screw Company, and the Atlas Drop Forge Company.

Nice to see that someone remembers the old taillight lens trick for determining the vehicle age. Not sure when they stopped doing that but it has been quite a while, I think.
Jack Fairweather The mid 90's.
That tail/turn signal lens trick really only apply to factory installed OEM brand lenses. That fender mounted light was a universal light that could have been mounted on anything...including farm tractors.
That also only tells you when they started making the design. If it said 1965 on it, that would be the first year for it. If they used it for 5 years without changes, it would still say 1965 on it.
This is very likely a mid 1960's model. 64 being my best guess. Diamond came in 67 so it can't be younger than that as the hood logo changed, reo v8 logo was dropped for a diamond reo badge, and it's a gold comet which was not made by diamond. (Im paraphrasing a bit here)
