They titled this " The Killing of K Waugh " yet didn't say how she was killed. The examiner didn't say it was murder. What is going on ? Leaving medication in patient's room is unheard of, then other drugs unsecured ? Higher ups should have also been let go.
Why was Ians contract not renewed? Totally tragic case and sad that justice never done. This home was a shambles. I wonder how many today are just as bad
Very sad, it seems like a lot of blame and probably brushed under the carpet like a lot of things because of the failings and neglect on many levels, may she rest in peace ❤
Nothing has changed has it? Look at the sheer state our country services are in now 2024 absolute abomination very disturbing and more questions than answers
I think there was a very good reason Kathleen didn’t want to take the drug in the evenings which was because of things being done to her when she was drugged and incapable. Did they check for S.A ? Sounds like the perfect environment for it to go on. It’s bleeding obvious.
Iain no doubt talked in the pub or with the guys. Why did he just pop in for a coffee?? Who does that when off work? Far as I know that's just not done.
@@christinedowie2859 particularly if you've literally been banned from the premises --- I mean, why would one be banned from a place of work? And why on earth would the night manager allow a banned man from dropping by at all let alone in the middle of the night?
I cannot understand how they say there were prowlers in the building at night walking around and nothing was done about it. Why were the other staff o n the night not interviewed for the program ? Why was the member of staff allowed back in the building for tea and a chat when he was let go from his contract? He should have been told to leave. Between the 3 members of staff working on the night and ex member of staff, the answers will be found with them. They said they knew all the sounds at night and even people's walks but none of them heard anything! !!. This is unreal , God help the family and I really hope that Kathleen is at piece. In so many of these cases the victims are never really given the respect they deserve 😢
How were these 'regular prowlers' the night staff "were used to" gaining access at night? The manager should have addressed this. Doors can be locked. Window locks were a thing back then too. They had a legal Duty of Care for residents safety.
It’s clear that the night staff did not check every hour if they had then they would it noticed she was missing earlier also what sort of care home for the vulnerable just lets them come & go at all hours is beyond me. Also that Ian who got fired who they interviewed seems like he’s got something to hide . Whole think stinks care work is hard today understaffed long hours for poor payI’m sure if staff could they would drug the harder patients over night it’s blatantly obvious that’s what they done then left her all night to most likely sleep on their shift .
it makes me wonder what compelled Kathleen's flat mate to leave the building at night -- I wonder if anyone thought to ask her why rather than just reprimand her.
Iain Mills is a psychopath, and he's guilty as hell. The colleagues on duty that night told police they were both sworn to secrecy about Iain's presence there for about an hour. I think they couldn't cope with Kathleen's restlessness, and summoned Iain. Iain had been banned from council homes because of misconduct, and explained he was there that night because he had a habit of making visits to talk to his former colleagues. Did he have the ability to intimidate problematic residents, and the incompetent carers needed him to deal with Kathleen? Though her body was too decomposed to determine her death, her blood had high, but not lethal, levels of sedatives and antidepressants. I think Iain tried to force her to take sedatives but she fought back and somehow was accidentally asphixiated. Iain took Kathleen's dead body out of the building through the fire escape. Of course, this would have caused the alarm to go off, but the staff there that night claimed this was because one resident had let in her cat through one of the fire doors. He disposed of her in the reservoir, hoping she would never be found. He was the only worker who told police about 'prowlers' trying to get into the building through fire doors, and claimed he had chased an intruder away on one occasion.
Nothing sinister happened here. One of the other residents put her shoes on so that she could escape and find her family that had put her there. Unfortunately she fell into the reservoir. Sad.
Or she was overdosed by temporary staff who couldn't be bothered looking after her if she wouldn't sleep. then she died due to the overdose and they snuck her out of the building and disposed of her in the water. it would certainly not be the first time a poorly run residential facility killed it's patients. They put on her shoes to make it look like she went of her own accord, not knowing or not considering that she wasn't capable.
@@slydoll7877That's exactly what I feel. They dosed her up to keep her quiet every night until her body over dosed. They all made a sworn pact to take their secrets to their graves .
Poor, poor Dear. I’m so sorry this happened to you. 💔💔💔
Why Kathleen was found in a field previously, this is terrible it’s as if someone was taking her out at night a lot for a bad reason it’s so terrible

From my experience many staff who work within mental health units are not very nice.

People tie laces differentlyly also. Where staff asked to show how they do it. 😮

Thank you for uploading this. I saw it when it was first broadcast, and often think if the police are any nearer to finding out what happened.

the whole set up stinks and should be reinvestigated.
My heart breaking for Kathleens mother. 😢

Safety wasn't a big deal, we learned the hard way, unfortunately. Thankfully times have changed in the 90s.
@@MrEd9574 If this had happened now, they would have had their asses sued. And rightly so.
Money went missing from Kathleen's account and the care home staff were 'unable to explain'
Ah now!!!?
