My Uncle swore by the ice pick. He made a custom sheath for it and carried it daily. I asked him why he preferred an ice pick over a regular knife, he responded, “The ice pick is naturally shaped to fit into the ear canal with least resistance”
I asked, “Are they legal to carry?”
He laughed and said, “I’m a felon. I obviously don’t give a sh*t. They should be thankful it’s not my 380.”
    “I didn’t know you could have a 380 as a felon.”
“I can’t… that’s why I leave it at home and carry an ice pick.”
    😆

shall not be infringed. no need to "explain" anything. we have laws against certain actions, not against any inanimate objects. lawfully speaking you can conceal carry a bazooka into a police headquarters, if it was physically feasible to do so.

Funny how you have alot of the same things that I have. There is Definitely a place in this world for Picks,
but I have to say that in my opinion...
a Pick is more of an Offensive Weapon that will be used to target Vital Organs.
Most Organs are four inches deep,(Depending). The wound from a Pick is TOTALLY different to a Blade.
A Blade wound causes people to Bleed Out much faster. Where as a Pick wound is basically a Deep Puncture wound which causes Internal Bleeding.
An Attacker can take alot more Hits and Still Stay in the Fight. Having said all that, I would Definitely rather face an Attacker with a Pick than to wave a Sausage at him. That's a Good Pick you have.

Excellent control on the drills. As for it's viability, 4 in of penetration in the right spot is a game over. The human body is susceptible to both pierces and slashes. I'm not going to say which goes where but if you know you know.

It's kind of amusing how different people react to the same thing. I was running a weed wacker on an expensive short term rental property. I left my fuel and spare line in the gazebo because it was convenient. When I returned for more line the couple renting the place was there sipping wine. I started putting in new line and chatting while I did so. I had too much line sticking out, so I pulled out my three inch pocket folder. Pocket clip, thumb studs, nothing fancy. It's a trained one handed movement, yank, flick and click. The wife nearly choked on her wine in fright and the husband fell over laughing at her. I gave her the "blink, blink WTF?" look, proceeded to cut off the excess line and said "You guys enjoy the rest your evening" while trying not to laugh as I headed back to my work area. Good times!😉

I got nailed in the right upper arm with an ice pick. A bar fight in Cleveland, mid nineties. I responded with a beer bottle to the side of my opponents head. Fortunately I side stepped, his aim was off and he lost his grip when I nailed him with the bottle leaving the pick in my arm, preventing him from multiple strikes. Interesting wound though. It pierced the front of the bicep ricocheting off the bone coming cleanly out the back slightly to the right. Small trace of blood at the exit, till I pulled it out. Looked a little like a large snake bite. A large gauze and ace rap later took care of business. Bastard ruined my shirt though. I later wondered how many stitches he needed from the bottle.

@411Outdoors majority of deaths I've seen in knife fights come from stab wounds instead of actual slashes. They do happen just not as often those quick stabs to the torso are fatal and a knife isn't the best at actual stabs way diffrent story with a dagger. But even then a pick is so much more effective. Once it enters there's no stopping it. In mexico plp don't fear knifes in a street fight they fear the ice pick. It's easy to hide and it will go in so fast each stab will enter the body and the wound doesn't bleed like normal wounds my father has told me stories of plp getting poked and collapsing a few feet away no blood and very small wounds that don't look fatal. But they very much are.

I was looking at ona's batangas blades and they had an icepick balisong (a balisong can get a person here a maximum of 14 years in prison even if its their first offense), it was the most cool icepick you'd ever see. Unfortunately here in canada you're just as likely to go to jail defending yourself as a person is for assaulting you, because of that the three S's are often the better course. Even saying youre carrying something for defense against wild animals or aggressive dogs will still get a person a prohibited weapons charge, anything carried for the purpose of self defense is prohibited here.

If you want to put down a attacker, you need to hit the brain or the heart with a ice pick, in my humble opinion I believe it's better to use a wide bladed tool, bigger wound canal equals massive hemorrhaging wich equals loss of consciousness, when you're in a real fight you can't feel any stabs or cuts, unless it's in the neck, there sheer panic sets in, but a ice pick is good if that's all you got,

    • @emmanuelaestradanoriega4177
      @emmanuelaestradanoriega4177 11 місяців тому

That is true but a knife doesn't enter the body as well as plp assume they struggle. When it does its scary but when it doesn't its a 1/4 inch wound the ice pick on the other hand well enter so fast that a few stabs is all you need a couple shots to the liver or kidneys or even the upper torso. The pick requires more knowledge about human anatomy imo both tools are effective and both tools have there place

I'm not so sure it would be that effective as a self-defense weapon.. you could poke a dude 8 or 9 times before he even realizes what happened. A wider wound is more noticeable and way more effective at neutralizing your attacker. If you just wanna jam it on a shoulder or knee to buy enough time to get away, then that might be ok..
I carry a steel barreled pen with me everywhere.and that's all it's for.. distracting an attacker with a poke in the shoulder, neck, etc...
