I am glad to see him giving exposure to quality shoemakers whether they be large production companies, small bespoke craftsman, or anything in between. It has been an educational experience for me, as well as providing leads to explore for acquiring a collection albeit a small one. One final note… thanks for featuring the book that was on display in this video. I ordered one for myself and a friend! Brad
I have several pair. I really like them. You get more bang for your buck with Vass, handmade shoes made of the highest quality materials for half the cost of bespoke shoes, plus lasted trees.
@@cedric717 Can you please help me with their sizes, i am a US 6.5 [Allen Edmond E] was wondering if 39.5 K last would a good fit or 39 K last [internet search proved confusing ]
@@msj7127 Yes EU 39.5 should equate to US 6.5, When ordering shoes made in the K-last, it is recommended choosing a half size larger (EU 40) unless your feet are narrower than average. The K-last features a narrow toe box for a sleeker Italian influenced silhouette. The U and F last have a rounder toe. All of them are beautiful.

I don’t know how you are able to schedule all these informative interviews, yet they are very much appreciated. What a learning experience! Keep up the good work!

I heard of Vass just recently from Hugo Jacomat’s two best shoes youtube videos. These really look supreme quality, and I like the style, not to British and not too Italian. Also, I need to read that book.
I know this is a year old, but typically a handwelted shoe is a GYW except instead of the machine doing the stitching, it's done by hand. When the shoe needs to be resoled, a cobbler will probably use the goodyear machine to attach the sole to the welt unless the customer specifically asks (and therefore pays for) the welt to he reattached by hand.
I was in Budapest myself but Lazlo Vass cost between 1500 - 2500€...would love to know where you were or if there is a website, I live in Sweden and would love to sell these in Scandinavia...if you can give me contact details I would be grateful...

Perhaps I’m missing something. I imagine the people at G&G are closing their eyes and crossing their fingers that the word doesn’t get out.
I think some G&G patterns are a little nicer but this is subjective and overall I agree with you. ~$750 (when you buy direct) for a pair of handmade shoes with lasted shoes trees is about as good as it gets. Saying its a good value almost feels wrong since when you remove price from the equation, Vass still comes out ahead since handwelting is the superior construction method.

I was not really sure about Vass shoes before. After watching this episode I ordered my first pair of Vass shoes.

I own GG and Vass. GG way ahead of Vass. In every aspect.
