    I am in my 70's, had a bout of osteoarthritis flare up a few weeks ago. On crutches. Typical 'bone on bone' type of diagnosis I have run into 7 years ago and resolved it after 6 months of various experimentations. This time throwing the kitchen sink at the problem (dietary change, red light therapy, laser therapy, exercise, stretching etc...) after 4 weeks I was able to walk upstairs with some pain. Downstairs is a totally different story. Painfully negotiating weight shifting, or walking backward. That is until I discovered the KoT guy, a true knee sorcerer to whom I owe a deep debt of gratitude. I applied his principles, initially going backward on my steeply inclined driveway, then backward up the stairs, then simplifying things by going back and forth using one stair step lingering where there is discomfort or small amount of pain. The biggest break through was applying the KoT principle using a power plate (Nasa invented vibration machine I happen to have in my exercise room) and doing KoT deep squats in extreme slow motion. Going through the skiing position while pushing toward the Asian squat. Muscles burn! 5 minutes on the power plate allows me to walk down the stairs without pain! Since muscles cannot develop in 5 minutes I surmised something is triggering a lot of joint lubrication. This does not last as the pain returns the next day but at a subtantially lower intensity. After a week of this I am 90% back. I am still doing 6 hours of sport requiring fast motions in all direction. I am using the KoT principle to substantially improve performance.

    Im 61, an had stiffness in my knee replacement i had 4yrs ago. I couldn't wash the bottom of my foot while in the shower, my knee was not bending enough to reach with my hand. I walked backwards up a ramp at work 4 times with 5 reps each time. The next morning i could wash my foot completely with no problem, im on 3rd day now doing this. Its amazing that this is all i have to do to loosen up my knee. This is the greatest thing.

    Bodybuilder who started getting knee pain because I do like squatting heavy. After a few months of incorporating his stuff, my knee pain essentially disappeared. I still do his stuff as warm ups and have a recovery day focusing strictly on his stuff to keep getting stronger in my joints.

    I did his program for months. I generally got it and I have his exercises as a routine. I don't even notice my knees anymore when I run. When I bust things I like Bob and Brad's channel.

    I've had arthritic knees for 35+ years, and it has never hurt me to go knees over toes. In fact, being able to do so makes some exercises easier and helps my Baker's cyst pain. I'm so glad to hear this!

    I was one of the broken and quickly becoming hopeless with my extreme knee pain. It was a combination of an overuse injury and a nervous system injury from previous overuse seven years prior along with Multiple Sclerosis injuries to the nervous system. As a bodywork practitioner in the rehab field, I was doing everything to try and rehab my knees. It often worked for a day or two at a time, but simple things like moving my leg in bed proved to be persistently agonizing through my left knee especially. I came across Ben's videos a couple of weeks ago. I was prepared for it to be hooey like 75% of what I see on UA-cam but was pleasantly surprised to find it clinically sound and decided to give it a shot. After my first 2 minutes walking backwards on an un-powered treadmill the KNEE PAIN IS GONE. Ben has helped me change how I view injuries and rehab. Thank you, Bob and Brad for adding your thoughts, legitimacy, and influence to what Ben is teaching here. He isn't the first or the only one to think this way, but was the first I had come across. Ben has restored my hope and got rid of my pain!

    Ben's Kneesovertoes has changed my life! 54 years old with a 1988 acl repair in one knee and a torn acl in the other with no repair for 30 years. Diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in both knees I thought I was headed for a double TKR. I had my old repair scoped and cleaned up and then started his program. I could barely do any of it. 5 months later I am a new man! Stronger and more stable than since I can remember. Very little pain ever. I do combine it with the arthritis diet which has helped immensely as well. I am sooo excited for a year from now!

    I am 70 years old and was once a power lifter, national champion in 1974. At about 55, I began to lose flexibility in my knees and shoulders and have been offered surgery on several occasions. I refused ( stubborn ) I guess. I have been doing knees over toes (some exercises) and I am seeing some improvement. I have been doing some of the exercises for about three months, I still feel pain jumping and I can do the sled, however, my knees feel unstable after. Flexibility improving, new paint though ha!ha! Thank you! (Jim)

    Awesome, totally awesome. I am a license massage therapist who specializes in therapeutic fascia-oriented bodywork involving lots of movement and going to school in quest to become PT. The established knowledge has yet to recognize the role of fascia in posture, movement, injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and sports performance. Ben is doing fascial training, with the loaded eccentric & concentric movement. I ripped my patella completely away from my lower leg 8 years ago. I’m 55 yrs old and developing arthritis in my knees. Started doing KOT exercises along within reverse nordics, b/c I was in pain bending my knees past 90 degrees. The splits squads helped me immediately. Thank you all for this information, it is an affirmation of my own understanding and desire to heal myself and assist others to do the same. Gravitas gratitude.

    It’s crazy how we grab onto one thing that said and run with it! I’ve heard this my entire life and have been so careful to avoid doing any exercise allowing my knees over my toes.🤦‍♀️.     Icing and resting. You should check out Dr. Andrew Huberman's podcast. He recently discussed a specific method of cooling parts of the body that boosts performance and improve recovery time. Combining that method with knees over toes could be very effective.

    This guy will be the sole reason why i want to get back in working out. I feel like a some workouts give damage the structure of your body so i got scared to do some of them but with ben patrick i know that his system will make me closer to athletic.

    I'm 61 and have chronic plantar fasciitis and knee pain - I'm totally convinced that it is an issue with the mechanical chain. I have a desk job and used to walk a lot, but even this is curcumscribed by pain, a viscous cycle that I'm desperately trying to break.
    Information like this is vital for me.

    Ideally I try 2 times a week in the gym as they have a good range of weights, the reverse sled is great and the Tib work sorted out calf strain I was getting running

    35 years old. still do quite a bit of exercise and playing basketball, but I finally had to concede that it was time to start doing something about the pain in my right knee. started doing the ATG splitsquat, and I am not joking that after two sessions doing the exercise my pain went away. I had already grabbed nordic curls from KOT guy a while ago, and now I am keeping the ATG split squat as a cornerstone of my training. fantastic for bulletproofing, as Ben would put it, and I'm curious to see it's impact on my athletic ability.

    Cross-training on a bike ,or spin bike always kept my knees happy with the main exercise of running. Know I know more precisely why the downstroke is definitely knees over toes and build the VMO's.

    I only use a foam roller for thoracic extension, or to help pop any ribs back in, although doing a flexed stretch of the lats, while twisting the torso simultaneous with posterior tilting in a squat with gymnastics rings works better for the ribs

    The main thing people need to understand - more importantly than incorporating this "knees over toes" philosophy - is using weight that you can control in all phases of a lift/movement/exercise (concentric, eccentric, and even isometric). Whether or not you even utilize an isometric hold, you shouldn't be using a weight that you couldn't control if you were to incorporate an isometric hold. People are truly missing the key takeaway because of the label of the philosophy, "knees over toes."

    It has never made sense to me why you should use only 50 percent of knee range. So I've always done squats with full knee bend. Never had any problems.

    Demonstration of these exercises would be helpful. It's hard to assimilate from a verbal explanation alone. Are you saying simply walk backward? Is that the message of this video?

      Here's an ankle exercise for you . . . I'll try my best to explain . . . Put your back up against a wall and put your feet out in front of you a few inches -- say, 3-5 inches, to start. Bend forward so that only your butt is touching the wall, while keeping your legs straight. This is your starting position. Now, from that position, keep your heels on the floor and lift your toes (both feet) as many times as you can. Go for 10 reps if possible. This builds your tibialis muscle. When you master this, move your feet further out from the wall and repeat.

      Walking backwards is the start, and something anyone at any age can do. You can start slow, maybe do ten minutes back and forth on a track or field daily. As you get more comfortable try to extend your backwards stride to really get your knees over your toes each step. Eventually you could try moving quicker or add resistance by dragging a weighted bag.

      Without knowing about the benefits of walking backwards I used it to conquer a hill. It was a steep long incline and my quads would just be on fire. My goal was to travel up without stopping. To avoid stopping I would turn around and walk backwards up with hill and eventually I was able to quickly climb that hill. I was just doing it to stop the pain and keep going lol I would alternate backwards and forwards. I had no idea it was a thing. Where I live now in TN hills like that are far and few between. I miss my desert.

    Just like flexing your back and twisting. It’s considered “bad”. I argue that if you are conditioned and trained with the right flexibility and strength in your spine you shouldn’t have a problem with this. With anything you have to be cautious. I wouldn’t recommend someone with a fresh herniation to bend and twist or someone with heavy arthritic knees to goes knees over toes. There has to be some form of structural health and the right conditioning to be able to build on these things.

    in the past i was always training knee over toes and never had any knee problems, then some gym guys told me to stop doing that because it will hurt me knees while training. So i stopped doing it and guess what, after a while i got weaker in the knees.... You can and you should incorporate knees over toes in your workouts, but dont necessarily load up max weight squats doing this, that seems unreasonable.....

    Legit question: I am recovering from quad-patella tendon tear surgery (4 months ago) my surgeon said I should wait 1 full year to see if I will lose permanent range of motion.
    Will I ever be able to kneel on the floor and sit on my heels? I am still far from doing this and I am eager to know.

      I think the ATG had surgery and was told he would never have full range of motion either. Might be worth learning about his backstory and how this helped him.

    I feel like “knee pain” and “chronic issues” are pretty vague conditions to recommend therapy for. Are there any conditions that this program would be harmful to? Everything from knock kneed to torn MCL?

    I'm really conflicted about this guy. I like his content and actually bought his program, but after doing the program for 4 months my knee pain has actually worsened. Anybody else have this experience?

      Try regressing the exercises. There was a point during my training cycle as well where I noticed my knee pain started getting worse, and after a while of it happening I realised I was ego lifting. My body had been giving me signals all along that something weird was happening there and I ignored it and kept pushing on. I'd regressed the offending exercises by a LOT, almost to the point where it felt ridiculous doing it by how easy it seemed. But tendons adapt at a much slower pace that muscles and even if an exercise is easy as far as muscles are concerned, it might be just the right progression for your tendons. Only progress the exercise once you feel super strong and comfortable in the position, and NEVER work these extreme exercises through pain, no matter how mild it is. Regress even if your joints are not explicitly hurting, but feeling any kind of "weird" during or after it. The exercises which can heal the most also have the most potential to wreck your joints if you do them incorrectly due to their nature of putting them into very vulnerable positions. Good luck.

      I think anyone can have opposite results and I suppose, one needs to slow down more and more, if pain is persisting. Regress more and more. what else one can do ? try to ask coaches why you are having more knee pain and they might help with easier exercises and reduced days of training

    The knees over toes thing is not good for me. I don’t let my knees get too much ahead of the toes.

    a question about dumbbell flat bench, I had learned to only do these to 90 degrees like doing them on the floor so your elbows dont go behind ? did Ben suggestion you should do more ROM?

    I'm trying to do some of the knees over toes excercise, 😩 but with my patellar tendon acting up, find them challenging to do.
    I do try to follow the "No pain" part, bit seems I'm being too aggressive with the excercise.

      The Zero program cured my left knee tendonitis in 6 weeks, I had it for about 13 years since I was 13-14.

    Yea.. no. Maybe if a circuit machine could take me through this gradually. But otherwise not a good idea 4 months after lateral meniscal repair. Or maybe ever.

    Why ice for accute? Why trying to rob the natural reaction from the body that evolved over million years? The blood and swelling is there to stiffen, protect and recover an injury. I don't get it. Good video
