- Listen to the words, this song has alot of meaning to it.This performance, when broadcasted was originally cut down by 45 seconds. It's been edited back to the full length of the original recording.Great sound
RIP Mike Smith; the soul of the DC5.
The most underrated singer in rock history!
He was definitely there voice. Dave Clark said, mike was one of the top singers in rock n roll. Agreed..
amen the Best Rock Voice ever
The British made the 60’s even more fun. Still love the British 60’s sounds and I’m 71 years old. It will never get old to some .
It was an honor serving this country. Thank you
Absolute, utter perfection. Arguably their best ballad, and one of their finest moments overall.
Mike is the best singer. And a living doll.So adorable.
Love these guys for 50 years, will play this song at my funeral!!
Love the song it brings back memories for me when i was a teenage girl in the mid sixties. Thanks for sharing the video. R.I.P. Mike,Dennis and Rick your all truly missed by your fans including me.
Dave Clark five⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ were a big big part of 1960S music they were Superstars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Love these guys for over 50 years, great harmony, playing this song at my funeral!
I just loved this song back then. Of course being madly in love with Mike helped too! :-)
Ow really!? 😊🤣😅
This song show cases their superb writing talent.
I had this 45. Bought it because of the cool picture of them. Long hair (Even theirs) was so cool to me. I had never heard this song before I brought it home and played it. Great song. Rick Huxley's favorite DC5 song.
In 1965 I was a senior in high school and this song was a great slow dance song.
I was in 6th grade this was the year my late oldest brother graduated from High School
I USE TO SING THIS SONG TO MYSELF WHEN I WAS IN VIET NAM
thank you for your service
Glenn Fiore. Thank for fighting for our freedom
This performance was originally shortened to make up time lost when the backing track failed on the first tune Glad All Over. An honour to be asked once to appear on the Sullivan show these guys came back 15+ times. This classy three minute clip should tell you why.
beautiful melody
I was once told this song was written for soldiers returning home from Viet Nam.
I was under that impression too but after seeing DC's promo film which was banned by BBC for being on the edge of pornographic...we never saw much of that FIlM...I.believe it's still on my site.
@@KellysClassicswhat film had pornographic in it dc5 are an amazing band one of my favorite bands my favorite bands are The Rolling Stones and The Dave Clark 5 that’s it
I used to listen to these guys on the now defunct WQSR back when I was growing up. My parents raised me on DC5. Always loved their music.
This is how I remember the song and it sounds great, thanks for bringing it back to its full length. Yes, the words have a lot of meaning as you have said. Mike said that he wrote this song for all of our troops that were serving in that long ago war in Viet Nam. Thanks much. John C
perfection at its best.......................
Nice job, Kelly. Good to hear the song in its full length. EDB
Wonderful !
too many memories
This song was love at first sight
Come home from album "Weekend in London'. I like DC5!
Somehow I thought if I got a Vox Continental, at age 14, I would look and sound like Mike Smith. It set my parents back about $1,300. It didn't work. But I did get a lot attention for that really cool piece of equipment. RIP Mike.
Great story
there was only ONE MIKE
Out of all their appearances on Ed Sullivan, there was one in particular where they sang COME HOME. They sing the chorus--I didn't think that it would be as bad as it's been. But now I'm coming home to give you a ring, The song pauses and you can hear a few girls screaming when it should be quiet and Mike, who usually is able to maintain his professionalism, suddenly loses it and he kinda goes limp like he wants to laugh then he straightens up and they finish the song. It was so funny . I wish I could find the video. Maybe they didn't save it. Does anyone remember seeing that?
thanks this is great.
SI HUBIERAN SEGUIDO ASÍ OTRA SERÍA LA HISTORIA
Bravo DC5!
I always figured that it was something like that.Being Canadian,I have now been informed.
LINDA CANCION ....EN ESPAÑOL LA DIERON A CONOCER LOS ''FORMULA V'' EN 1971 .....LAS DOS VERSIONES ME GUSTAN MUCHO.....
This clip came from 'the Ed Sullivan Show' in 1964

Mike Smith Great Vocalist"
I wonder if I should try posting the version of Come Home that was banned in the UK when it came out?
@@KellysClassics Why not,should be interesting"
Yes...will look for it ...I have it...just gotta find it
I will try & find video & post tonight...that's if they allow a DC5 vid to be posted at all
This guy looks like Paul but sounds like John!
Could someone please tell me what is the other instrument that Denis is playing besides the saxophone?
this is 1965.....Cindy Hickey / Guefeston....this is your DC5 buddy TD reaching out to you in Denver....
Kelly, where'd you find the 1st verse to post full restoration? I've only ever seen "2nd verse" (Mike to Lenny)
EL QUE HACIA LA PERCUSIÓN MUSICAL DEL GRUPO (BUENAZO)*JOSE LUIS SERVETTI URUGUAY MONTEVIDEO
If you guys love this group take a listen to The Easy Beats Friday On my Mind and think what The DC5 could have did with that.
Partial lip synch, partial live vocals...you can hear in the beginning Mike cueing Lenny "2nd verse", & watch neck muscles & listen to "double" harmonies, you'll see it's only partially lip synch
LOUSY drummer, great singer ,great records.
You are so correct... DC was a shitty drummer and Mike Smith carried that band.
Can anyone put a date or show to this clip please?
Ed Sullivan Show June 20 1965, the show that had the infamous GAO backing track failure . From what I've read, Come Home started with the 2nd verse to make up for lost time.
....or british
What a great looking group of guys, love them.
The Dave Clark 5 is better than one direction The 1st generation of rock and roll
a great song. lyp-synched here, obviously.
+sclaymore9 well that was what all TV shows did in that time period
hundreds of hours of Beatles performing live , NONE on DC5 .....they lip synched every video performance I ever seen, and took it on step further......EVERYBODY in the band lip synched the lead vocals....very strange?......wonder what Mike thought of that?
Yeah, no recorded concert?
always funny..they all 5 lip syched all the lead and backup vocals on all thier videos..
