An absolute GEM of American history!! What a shame Disneyland isn't like this today.. would have been nice to see it preserved in all it's original glory.
I just watched the house of the future with everything being plastic. Interesting when the real future is realizing how bad plastic is for the earth. Love these videos about the beginning of Disneyland. I'm glad they exist. And I'm glad I grew up in Los Angeles with Disneyland in our backyard. How time flies. I just turned 60!

I believe the home of the future was created by Monsanto. I think they also had a model for the 1964/65 New York World's Fair at which the Chrysler Corp. featured the jet powered car that one could experience a ride on a small track outside of their pavilion (I was lucky enough to get a ride in it (a 1964 high school jr.)). Now THAT was "cool"!
I hate to be a nit-pick but the actual opening day is something everyone gets wrong. It's even misrepresented by the company at times. The opening ceremonies on July 17th was a television event and was by invitation only. Unfortunately someone got a hold of the invitation only tickets and counterfeited them. The first day of public operations was July 18th, 1955. Unfortunately, Fantasyland was closed that day due to a gas leak and the restaurants ran out of food.
That was so long ago I'm pretty sure no one cares which day it was originally... it's never gonna be the same park as Mr Disney envisioned it. Today, it's an overblown madhouse of noise and filth.
23:42 ....I guess we won't be seeing THIS feature of the old Disneyland again, will we? Armed guards lowering the flag before nightfall; guests on Main Street actually doffing their hats (some placing them on their hearts), standing at attention. ...I know, I know, it was a different country.
I visited the House of the Future as a kid a dreadful place Disney does have its share of flops there is a lot of "since removed" in Disneyland's history
?!? ....What do you mean? There's a whole corporate division and trademark dedicated to pancake products called "Aunt Jemima", owned by Quaker Oats (a subsidiary of PepsiCo), worth how many billions of dollars today? People still seek out their product -- emblazoned with the logo image of Aunt Jemima, that dusky gal in her headscarf.
I really just don't want my car to blow up that would be a dream come true it's my only lifeline and support to anything I'm buried in debt and bills and if you could heavenly father if you look down from above withd love on your son can you at least spare me that

I'm glad they had the technology to document all this. Very nostalgic.

Look at all the orange trees. You’d be lucky to find one left in that town.
Well there is still one left in my Mom's back yard 🙄
Thank you for this compilation of treasures! It was a joy to enjoy!
Thank you! and you're welcome!
"The Indian Village is a permanent and popular attraction here"....Apparently NOT permanent... ;)
If I could go back in time, I would want to go back to the Future.
People love to complain. Just enjoy.

I think it was too. How awesome you got to go!
Walt Disney was such an innovator. I almost feel like I’m watching Steve Jobs
@@paularose9407 You're clueless. Jobs was not all about the money. You just lost any credibility with that statement.
@@mahadragon yeah thanks for the insult like as if you know everything and need to judge .. pfff
We don't taught in history books. But in documentary yes.
On the Disneyland billboard sign, it said closed on Mondays, 12 minutes into the video
I want to go Disneyland
I want my own animation studio... And I want to build my own amusement park like, Walt!!!
Both Steve Jobs & Bill Gates were born the same year that Disneyland first opened: 1955. It was also the same year that Albert Einstein passed away.
Did you all know this? The buildings along main usa, came from Fort Collins co?
it was call black sunday opening day was a nightmare
It looks like someone flipped off the camera from inside the train station 5:05

7:25. Aunt Jemima? Some things are best left in 1955

@@MrJm323 Yes I know about the pancake products but I sorta don't think that's what they were referring to
A plastic home in California? Not today. It would have to be made of paper, just like the straws at Disneyland.
i love disney but the value r diff know it all the money now n ppl like gave it to them smh but i do enjoy it
