My parents took me and my brother to Disneyland on the 3rd day it was open, I was almost 6 years old and now I am 70 and still remember almost everything about that fantastic day. On our way home, we stopped and picked a few oranges right across the street from Disneyland.
Nothing can beat the original Disneyland. Things were simple back then and it was really like a fairyland. I enjoyed that little boat ride through the miniature village and houses. I think that It's a Small World ride replaced it. I was there in the first week of its opening. Even the cracks in the buildings were brand new.
no roller coaster, plundering pirates or happy haunts, and still it looked like a whole lot of fun could be had back then. some of my earliest memories of the park are riding the mules through the painted desert, and tuna sandwiches at capt. hook's pirate ship restaurant. i'm so glad i was old enough to store them in my brain forever.
I loved going to Disneyland in the early 60's with my family. Hearing Jiminy Cricket sing his famous song as a child inspired me to set a life's goal and work at NASA. I retired from NASA Dryden, Edwards Air Force Base, CA in 2004. Yes, your dreams can come true.
notice disney never mentions going to moon, nasa, apollo, lem, lunar capsule, apollo orbiter or related apollo/moon stuff since we never went there. dont get me wrong as i like disneyland and never figured why we do not have monorail in la or more usa cities. I am aware of seattle monorail..
@@bradleysmall2230 - Disney obviously knew that it would be impossible to go to the moon with the technology of the 20th century and may have even known about the plan to use simulation footage to eventually fake the landings.
Wow everyone is dressed up. What a time. My first visit to Disneyland was 1965 . Age 12 . It was busy then but nothing like it is now. Hard to enjoy the park with so many strollers around and 50,000 people. My last visit was 2017 . Sad to say but probably won't be back.
I spent a fantastic day during my childhood in 1968 . I , was so fortunate to be that kid. I , my mom and dad, had a guided tour of Disneyland. She was awesome , she took us everywhere it was so fantastic behind the scenes as a little boy,i got to see pirates of the Caribbean, I ate my 1st Monte cristo sandwich at the restaurant at the pirates of the Caribbean. What a great day in my life. 😮😮
so much has been lost over the years … i was there at the beginning … my family lived only a few miles away when disneyland came into being … and as an eight year old, i would watch the disneyland fireworks from my front yard … pure magic of the imagination … when you wish upon a star ...
@@ResortTV1 Yup. a truly great place...I was there back in '65 down from Canada, and my Dad and I went on the Autopia highway...I was 8 at the time.....and then in 2005 my son was 8 and he and I went on Autopia.....that was SO great!!...I'll never forget that. I hope to go back with my grand kids, some day...
Nothing will make you visualize the original Disneyland more than the vast parking lot that stretched from the Main Entrance to Katella Av and from Walnut St to Harbor Blvd,
We went every summer and I would cry driving home. I want my ashes put someplace there in the park and told my kids this. They said okay. It’s a popular place for ashes. The happiest place on earth for me
I’m sorry to inform you this, but many people have put there loved one ashes there. They got swept up right in front of them and the ones who put it water, if they were caught, they got banned from there. But I agree it is a happy place and don’t blame you for wanting to be there when gone.
Hopper Challenge - video 80 I remember watching these shows on the Wonderful World of Disney. WWoD aired at 4pm on NBC and I'd have to watch it every day when I got home from school.
We've loved going to Disneyland, in the past, but with all the changes to appease the few I'm not sure I'll ever go back. It'll just not be the same. I'm not sure it'll be better. Also, prices are too restrictive
Amazing! Such authentic detail and incredible craftsmanship and engineering! It seems like no stone was left unturned. Even the mountain goat appears on cue.......and this was in1957! I noticed how the visitors are dressed nicely and modestly. Happy, beautiful families wander throughout the park. America has truly degenerated since then!
+billr111 So true. Wish I had been around back then to see it for myself. My first visit to WDW was in 1984, and my first visit to Disneyland was in 1993.

Nowadays Dad comes from work to see an empty dinner table and list by the fridge that say's..... Monica is a her piano classes. David at his soccer game. Mom fixing and dying her hair. And last......Dad your dinner is in the fridge. Where's our family discipline nowadays? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Great video. Greetings!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanks! So much for posting! It means a lot to me to see this film, I have been collecting Disneyland items for over 45 years. The park will never look like this again, but I know nothing stays the same. Just thought I would ask, does anyone have any thoughts on the new Star Wars Land? Please write here, Thanks! David from Ca.
+Disneyfan1955 Glad you enjoyed the video! I actually don't know too much about Star Wars Land at Disneyland because I've mostly been keeping track of the Walt Disney World version of it since I live in Florida, but I'm interested to hear about the differences and similarities between each park. Has anyone else heard anything?
+ResortTV1 Hello, Thanks! for getting back to me! If you go to Mouse Chat. com they have some information on Disneyland's Star Wars Land, David from Ca.
It would help if someone actually has the actual second half of this episode, or at least the introducion but juding by the credits I guess the complete show has Walt introduce us to Pecos Bill and judging the credits it seems to be the unaltered theatrical version.

Walt Disney the man who has done most to bring joy to the World. What a legacy what a man.
Very true! :-)
wish I could travel back in time to meet him and say thank you
I love these types of vintage documentaries. They are so strangely comforting and nostalgic. Love Disneyland, Thank you!

It was really nice that everyone used to dress up to go out in those days. It definitely is getting more and more crowded. That's for sure.
Go on a week day during off season you will love it
I went there then and it really makes me happy to see it like it was when I was a child.

Zaq Voir I just went to Disneyland last week, it’s still a magical place. Nothing has truly been “lost”.
Yeh at 9 PM as I remember. I lived near Cerritos and Gilbert back in the Fifties.

Incredible craftsmanship? I saw cracks in the buildings on Main Street and this was in the first week of its opening.
So inspiring

Some great footage here thanks for posting

My grandparents were there in 56 or 57.
My mother sang in a Christmas choir for Walt Disney in 1957. I would love to find footage of this.
The entire video of the 1957 film is available in color on UA-cam as it was shot.

At least this ain't Escape from tomorrow the 2013 movie because it is so scary and horror Disney world was probably the place the movie was from.
Can this be colorized now?
I wish todays billionares would spend billions to make the world a better place.

Question now is - has Disneyland changed for the better?...
I'm indigenous and I don't find this offensive.
