While waiting for delivery of my very first kit I watched many hours of diamond tutorials and everyone was just confusing me. Then I found you and you are an amazing teacher and I love your spirit. Your channel will be my go to as I will start my kit tomorrow. Thank you from the heart! HugZ
Good morning, Sunshine! I’m cleaning up my kitchen and emptying my sink and this video was the perfect audio accompaniment! I’ve just kitted up my first square DP. It’s a snack size 12 x 12”. But, (WELP!) I’ve also purchased one that is a little bit larger… (47x24”), haha! After watching this, I feel a lot less intimidated about starting with square drills. And I am a lot more confident that I can move forward without driving my brain crazy trying to get them all straight. You’re so easy to digest, Miss Coffee. You’ve brought me a sense of calm this morning as I’m flitting about my house prepping for my husband to come home from the hospital after a very long week. I just love your content and chill style. It always pops up in my feed exactly when I need it! The universe (or Algorithm, lol) must love me today! 😆😘
I needed to hear this tonight. I’ve been working on Elusive from DAC for like 6 wks now. My 1st square and I know everything you said in my head I just needed to “hear” it to give me that push. This is the one that made me push subscribe! Ty.
I finally finished my first square from dac. I was so worried about making sure every drill was perfectly straight I drove myself crazy!!! It turned out perfect n I love it.
Thank you so much for pointing out that gaps have a purpose. I've been so frustrated trying to eliminate gaps that I didn't even consider the purpose of those gaps! You have just saved me so much time and needless obsession!
This was super helpful! I've been diamond painting for about 2 years, but I am just now tackling a square drill kit, the Valentine Gmomes from DAC. I'm loving how it's turning out! I am using a ruler, but your tips really helped me to relax and enjoy the process, and not to stress too much about perfect placement! You're right about the drills straightening themselves out!
Thank you so much for your comment regarding the gaps when using a light pad. I was disappointed in my placement and almost gave up diamond painting. I trust and appreciate your tutorials. TFS.
Thank you. I thought they had to be absolutely straight so I got frustrated and went to round but I got some square drill paintings coming tomorrow. I'm so excited and can't wait. Thank you again.
I watched this video last night for help and you fixed everything to work perfectly. I had to tell you thank you. I am still using your Dad's trick with a medicine bottle and a coin. You put your stuck drills in there and shake and poof unstuck drills. It makes me smile everytime. Have a nice week!
Thank you Mrs Crochet, I'm new to Diamond painting, my first was round. For my second was square [ Prima Donna] Whew, you make it so easy. I was trying to turn each drill the same way and would turn them to look the same way. I started bottom right and watch your video to square off the kit [ very very helpful ] I'm still working on the bottom right. 🌸
You are an excellent teacher and an expert in this field! This video on square drills / multi placing is the greatest one I've found on the tube yet! I even forwarded it to my adult daughter! Thanks from a loyal fan! 🙏❤😷
Thank you for the tips! I love just listening to music, or WIP in Chats while I work! Ironically, I did the whole first side of my Cottage By the Sea by single placing. Then, I guess as my confidence grew, I felt like I would try my hand at multi-placing. It was so much fun! Now, I do a combination of single, checker boarding, and multi-placing! Also, with kids and dogs I love the lock tight storage containers!!! Thank you for sharing ☺️
You are a blessing!!! I just noticed this morning the self- straightening!!! I was worried due to this being a custom picture of family!! You my friend have nailed every tip!! Thank you 😊
These were awesome tips. I always listen to WIP and chats or floss tube while I’m diamond painting, cleaning my house, folding laundry and cross stitching.
Thank you Mrs Coffee the biggest problem I have with square drill paintings are my need for the squares to be perfect. Most of my DAC paintings are square because I love the detail (Spangler & Pinson for example) as well as the painting itself.
I’m commenting again because I wanna say thanks so much!! Since about a week ago when I first commented on your video after watching this, I’ve improved my multiplacing skills with square drills. You’re the bomb!!!! 😄 thanks again!!
Thank you for this-yep that is me being intimidated by the squares -I gave up after like only trying squares for 30 minutes 😂 I think I’ll try again now!!! Thought there was something I was doing wrong about making them perfectly straight 😜
Hi Mrs Coffee, thank you so much for helping handle square drills. I was working on a canvas with square drills. I literally went OCD with each and every drill. Okay, I am ADHD, so having OCD is common. Know, I can relate and Diamond paint with square drills. Love your nails. Have wonderful evening.
Wow thanks so much for this video!! Im trying to get better at multiplacing squares. Seems so much easier for me with rounds because I’m a beast with those but I’m starting to see progress. Your video helped out a lot and I love how fast you’re getting artemisa done, can’t wait to see it when you’re done💕
I'm watching you for the first time and everything is falling into place. Thank you so much for your excellent teaching! from Judy in Nova Scotia, Canada
Thank you for the tutorial. It helps a lot! I like to do my DP while listening to your wip & chats! Love your stories about family, dogs, and miscellaneous! Thank you for being your amazing self and sharing your time with us! ❤
I'm very new to diamond painting and my second one is a square one which intimidated me and found you here help a loooot and gives me confidence in trying it! Thank you so much for your tips and tricks👍🏼
I'm getting pretty used to being 6' away from my canvas and anything else these days. 😂 I like using the checkerboard method with a multiplacer if I have a large area of one color. I use the straightener to try and put my plastic cover back on straight after I unbox a kit. Have a great day.
Hi, Mrs Coffee. I'm awaiting the delivery of 2 (small) square diamond canvases. I've only been diamond painting for 3 weeks, so I started with round diamonds but heard that square ones can provide more detail on a smaller canvas. Your video has alleviated any trepidation I may have had about squares. Thanks for your great advice - and for pointing out that we don't need a special kind of drill pen for square drills. As a newbie, that was something I was unsure about. I don't have kids, but I have an indoor cat so if I have to leave my canvas for a period of time, I tip my drills into their containers so he can't knock them out of the tray - or worse, try to eat them. (He has a history of trying to eat inedible things. And I don't need an expensive trip to the Vet.) 🙄 I usually manage to drop a few drills on the floor, so when I'm done working on my cavas at the dining table, I vacuum the floor around it for my cat's safety. I look forward to watching more of your videos - and greetings from Australia. 😀🦘🐨
Enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for them. This was very helpful. I always put a movie on and I just listen while I'm diamond painting. You are right that round drills you can't get them perfect either that's why i really need to pick up my square diamond painting and work on it more.
For color blocking: I’ve gotten to where I love outlining large solid colors. Then I go and continue filling in the irregular shape to form an empty square for the inside. If there are small shapes in the way like stars for the sky I outline them too and fill them in to the square shape. By then I don’t mind the small section that I need to finish.
So glad you said it's ok to single place. I have tried to use a multi place but I can't seem to master it. Working on Chuck Pinson's Strength Along The Journey and enjoying every minute.
I like to listen to music when i diamond painting and multi placing makes the diamond painting faster and it helps me out a lot. Especially since i have Cerebral Palsy, and i my left hand is my stronger hand. I use my left hand for everything. I haven't done a square painting yet. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for this video! I took you advice when I have a kit with square drills and used the checker board method and my painting turned out wonderful! Thank you Mrs. Coffee!!
I've been watching these diamond art videos all day and thank you so much for the conversation about the drills being straight and about the gaps in the work. I was having such an issue last night with the piece I was working on and honestly felt a little defeated. You articulated this so well; honestly wish I would have found your channel sooner, I probably wouldn't have been as anxious 😅 I really appreciated all the tips you gave in the video.
Thanks for the tips I just started my first square and I’m going very slow because I think it is harder than the rounds😔but these tips will help me a lot for sure.🤗
This is a great video and has lots of tips I learned through trial and error!! The only thing I would like to add is that there is a huge difference between working on poured and double sided tape canvases! On poured glue canvases the glue has some give and the drills will easily move around and can be manipulated; however on tape canvases this is not the case and they tend to sit however you place them down! So they won't straighten themselves out and instead push against each other until they are pushed out of place. Which tends to be up and off the canvas! The first DP I did was poured glue and when I did my second I couldn't figure out why they were popping off the canvas. This was the reason! Since placing them carefully and exactly in the outlines they no longer fight each other and stay nicely in place! This takes longer, yes... but the result is less frustrating than having big areas of drills that are fighting and popping up. You can tell if you have a poured glue or double sided tape canvas by its cover. A clear plastic cover are the poured glue (usually higher quality and more $$) and the canvases that have a waxy feeling paper are tape! If working on a tape canvas, it's best to deal with the "bubbles and rivers" before placing your drills down! These areas are where the tape has lifted from the canvas below. If you leave them as is. your drills won't lay flat! I just cut the tape lightly with a hobby knife to remove the air and push the tape back against the canvas below. It's easy and you can't tell you cut the tape when the drills are down! Again what a helpful video! I wish I had known you can just look up tips and trips years ago when I started! haha, thanks so much for a great video. You are very concise and you have a calming voice that is very nice to listen to!
I'm doing my first square drill diamond painting and was about to get frustrated with the gaps and the drills not being perfectly straight. Thank you for this.
You taught me how to use the multiplayer and you are calming me down about doing squares.? I think I will get out my square I was working on a year ago and try again. Looks like what you are doing is basically the same as laying down rounds. Except for the places where you use the checker board process. Thank you!
I have been watching your video over and over and still can’t the hang of square painting, I haven’t been doing it long but love the round ones, the square i am beginning to hate it. I bought two 40 x 50 square paintings which are meant to be keepsakes for my daughter and granddaughter. Is it possible to buy the round diamonds somewhere but still use these pictures. I hope you can help or these might end up in the bin 😢 Thank you
Because of the size of the drill filled spaces using other drills say a round on a square may or may not fit because rounds are bigger than squares so, You may experience popping drills if you do that.
Great video. I am working on two huge kits, #s 13 and 14 since beginning in October. I have been using the multiplacer for quite some time, switching between the 12 through 15 tips on various pens but I have been doing it for all colors including light colors and have never yet tried the checkerboard method.
Hey Mrs Coffee hope hope Mr Coffee and the children and pets are well ☺ I just wanted to say thank you for a great square diamond drill video. I got a square drill kit for Xmas and tried to start it and was getting frustrated as the drills weren't quite straight and I was obsessing a little. So I stopped and found your video and your tips were great. I have now manged to complete a section and I didn't obsess and just chilled. Your right as my face is really close to the canvas and have the light pad on the drills look a bit wonky and gappy when I put the light pad off and step back it looks good 👌😊also it's great if I have a wonky drill when putting more round it it straightens it out. So a huge thank you x
This was lovely, thank you! Listened as I started my first square kit. It’s a monster (56x109) and only my third kit. Seems that my method is single-place checkerboard, same way I do round drills. 💙
I absolutely love your channel! If I get a wonky line of drills, I use an old credit card to push them into submission however i'm not too OCD with straightening! Thanks for this video!
This helped a lot! Thank you for doing this video! These videos help a lot! My drills look a lot better sense I put more around it like you've said. :) I listen to you and others too while I diamond paint. If there's nothing on, I will watch a TV show that will not distract me. I do have a small tea cup yorkie who loves to snuggle and go potty every three to four hours. Haha. Which I'm fine with it. It helps me take a break and not stress over the diamonds not so straight. :)
I've been doing diamond painting since 2019 and my very 1st diamond painting was a square drills.. I have no idea about having it with round also but square drills is the best the image is more beautiful with square...
Very informative video, thanks for sharing. I found I hated working with the pen. I just could not get on with it, multi placing never worked for me either. I found I enjoy working with fine nosed tweezers, I seem to achieve more accuracy using tweezers, and only discovered last night how you can use other colours to your advantage to get darker surrounded colours (that have harder to see guidelines) in the right place. I know what you mean about the light pad accentuating gaps, as soon as it goes off it's virtually impossible to see any gaps. Also I like to listen to either music, podcasts or audio books when diamond painting, watching anything is impossible and defeats the object of the excercise.
Very interesting. I’m thinking of starting this hobby and you’ve given me lots to go on. I’m going to watch more of your videos. The piece you’re doing looks beautiful, unlike all the other stuff I see on Amazon. Details, that’s what I like. I do paint by Number now.
Thank you for this! I prefer single placing and checker boarding larger areas, not sure why but it seems to go faster for me :). However I have a couple square paintings that will require a multiplacer due to the enormous amounts of large black areas haha
I also find with square drills if you are Start with tweezers getting them in a straight line at the very beginning. if you can use tweezers it makes it a lot easier to get the drill straight once you’ve done an area you can go onto a single place a pen. If you like
Thanks for this advice. I was getting frustrated because my drills were not that straight. Will try my straightener and just let it be. Love listening to jazz or piano while diamond painting.
I always diamond paint to music! Crank it up loud, too. But honestly, something else is canvases that have a lot of color blocking will go faster than ones with a lot of detail. I just started a dragon with a whole lot of detail. And it’s 60 x 90 cm. It’s gonna take a long time. Even though I’m relatively quick. A ton of confetti on this one.
@@MrsCoffee1 yeah it does, but the finished product is simply amazing. I just bought another one with 2 dragons that is 80x100 cm. I have no IDEA what I was smoking when I bought that!!!
Yes!!! When I’ve had certain things on, like series supernatural it has distracted me to the point where I’ve put the diamonds on the wrong squares, then had to spend ages picking them off. Ggrrrrrrr lol
Thanks for the info re straight diamond's I've been brought three pictures at Christmas and was daunted by the and I manage to buy a cheap diamond kit of a koala bear and I'm getting the hang of it before starting on the othe "howling wolf's " "London's big Ben and houses of parliament with the iconic red phone box " and last of a colourful owl" and I was scared of ruining the good ones I'm amazed you can work with those beautiful long nails
Hi! I am a new sub and your videos have helped me out so much. I just started my diamond painting journey and your videos have answered so many of my questions i have. I can't say that enough!! Thank you!! ✌😊
I am still struggling w squares. This vid will help w the guilt. I like to do parallel diagonal lines over an area and then go back and fill in the empty diagonal lines. Makes me feel like I’m covering more area in a short time. 🥴😊
Thank you so much for this video, I am a single placer, but am trying to practice multi. I noticed you hardly ever need to wax your pen. I don't know what I am doing wrong, have paddy wax, both kinds and just about everything out there, but consistently for the first few times, get wax all over the drills, then get perfect ones, but only about 10 times, then starts when they don't pick up anymore and have to restart the whole process. I have watched almost everyone or your videos and Rachel's, about wax and loading pen, but still have to reload every 15-20 pick ups, what am I doing wrong?? Thanks for doing this for all who love the diamond painting.
Thank you... this is exactly what I was looking for. Great tips..& Ty again.. I Do not comment, but I had to say thank you, for saying things as5hey are.
New DP’er and thank you for the OCD mention. I thought it was me. This video helped. I do watch TV, but we only series/movies I have already watched for back ground noise.
So what your saying is that I probably shouldn’t be watching my Asian dramas with subtitles while I diamond paint! Lol 😂. I will still watch them as I have a system down for it. I have my iPhone down on my canvas in the area I am working on at same level. And the yes it does slow me down but I still can get a 60x60 project done in a month. And of course while working on my BTS diamond paintings I have to have them on either music of video!
Hi there 👋🏻 I will be kitting up my first square drill painting today and I am really excited to start with it. Love your videos, I came from your friend's Rachel Rae's channel ❤
🙋🏾♀️ Hello! Welcome to the channel! 1st time doing squares can be a little nerve racking just remember there no different than round and follow these few tips from the video and you will be fine

Great video. I am working on two huge kits, #s 13 and 14 since beginning in October. I have been using the multiplacer for quite some time, switching between the 12 through 15 tips on various pens but I have been doing it for all colors including light colors and have never yet tried the checkerboard method.
Great presentation! Full of tips... tricks... and confidence building. Thank you! 😊
You are so welcome mrs. Coffee have a great day☺️☕️🌹
Hey Mrs Coffee hope hope Mr Coffee and the children and pets are well ☺ I just wanted to say thank you for a great square diamond drill video.
Awesome I'm glad you enjoyed it
Such great tips! I had no idea what the magnet was for. I thought it was for the fridge.🤣
I can’t stop thinking about Daisy 🐶 knocking your Christmas tree down with her tail 🙈 I can totally relate 🥰
I absolutely love your channel! If I get a wonky line of drills, I use an old credit card to push them into submission however i'm not too OCD with straightening! Thanks for this video!
I wish I saw this 2 years ago! But knowing what I know, this is great advice to beginners as nd intermediate crafters.
Thank you for all theses tips
This helped a lot! Thank you for doing this video! These videos help a lot! My drills look a lot better sense I put more around it like you've said. :) I listen to you and others too while I diamond paint. If there's nothing on, I will watch a TV show that will not distract me. I do have a small tea cup yorkie who loves to snuggle and go potty every three to four hours. Haha. Which I'm fine with it. It helps me take a break and not stress over the diamonds not so straight. :)
I love the checkerboard
I've been doing diamond painting since 2019 and my very 1st diamond painting was a square drills.. I have no idea about having it with round also but square drills is the best the image is more beautiful with square...
Squares give more detail rounds give more Sparkle
Audiobooks are great
I always diamond paint to music!
That confetti aways slows us down
@@MrsCoffee1 yeah it does, but the finished product is simply amazing. I just bought another one with 2 dragons that is 80x100 cm. I have no IDEA what I was smoking when I bought that!!!
😆
Yes!!! When I’ve had certain things on, like series supernatural it has distracted me to the point where I’ve put the diamonds on the wrong squares, then had to spend ages picking them off. Ggrrrrrrr lol
I ❤your explanation of how you explained everything!! Thank you so very much 😊
Thank you!! Your skills are well above mine!! I. Appreciate this video!!
Thank you!! ✌😊
You're Very welcome
OMG! Finally common sense!
Brilliant! Thank you. Going to chill out more when it comes to me working those square drills 👍
My first square made me cry. When i was finished it looked like i had been drunk working on it.lol..I love your wedding ring. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for all the good information. You are excellent
Great video. Really needed because squares are becoming a favorite for me.
Awesome job, Mrs. Coffee! Very helpful and much ch appreciated!💕
I am still struggling w squares. This vid will help w the guilt. I like to do parallel diagonal lines over an area and then go back and fill in the empty diagonal lines. Makes me feel like I’m covering more area in a short time. 🥴😊
Thank you. I have more confidence with working with square drills.
Thanks for the tips on square drills. I have a kit that I keep putting away as the square drills were not going straight. Going to try it again
Thank you I've been worried about getting them straight. Starting a on a new huge project for my daughter. And I want it to look great on her wall.
Your not doing anything wrong it could just be you need to try a different wax
Thankyou for that, I was beginning to think my cataract was getting worse ,and getting a sore wrist trying to get the squares straight 🤪
Thank you Mrs. Coffee for your information have a great day be safe☕️☺️💐
Thank you for these tips on working with squares! I very much appreciate it. Hopefully I will be faster soon! 🤗
Hi, which painting are you doing in this video?
I believe that is Artemisa from Diamond Art Club
I'm getting ready for the going jwall event so I'm watching this while kitting up Oberon and Titania. Thank you so much for this!
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for this helpful video🤗😀
You did an excellent job explaining. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for doing this video. Doing my first square canvas and was freaking out because I could see gaps and they didn’t go on straight.
Deep breaths glad I could help 😊
Hi there 👋🏻 I will be kitting up my first square drill painting today and I am really excited to start with it. Love your videos, I came from your friend's Rachel Rae's channel ❤
