I saw an Aussie UA-camr recommend Blu-Tack. That may work in cooler parts of Southern Australia, but not in tropical Queensland - especially in the Summer. When it's extremely hot, Blu-Tack stretches like mozarella cheese - into fine strands. That's a definite NO from me. I just ordered my first brick of original scented PaddyWaxx and after watching this video, I'll have to practise using a lighter touch. Like you, I press my drill pen onto the canvas hard most of the time. I hope the PaddyWaxx is worth it, because the postage between the US and Australia is astronomical. 😳 I only bought one brick to see if I like it or not. Thanks for this honest review of all the different waxes.

Thanks for taking the time to go over the different waxes. I recently bought a pen with 9 metal tips/multi placers and it came with 6 plates of the square blue wax. Ill have to try it. Im really happy with the white Gorilla mounting putty squares. To me they seem very clean, low if any residue and long lasting. Im a light to medium placer. Again, thank you for doing this video.

This was really good! I never thought about using a toothbrush to use the wax residue to "polish" the canvas after finishing...so thanks. I hadn't heard of the Caro wax and just placed an order since I'm also in Canada and like to support the craft community.
Thanks for emphasizing that "best wax" is a matter of opinion, too. I like my Paddy Wax and PDSS, but they aren't great in the winter unless I remember to warm them before using but the dark pink wax from DAC or in the macroon containers from Paint Gem are always ready to work and last for quite a while for me.
Hope you and your fam are keeping healthy and safe! :)

I think it depends on where you live, as well. What climate and altitude you are in. Also, the type of heating and air you have in your home/room. I have found that I get different results from the same wax when I am at home vs the beach vs the mountains vs even the cancer center. Humidity plays a big part in how wax performs. I think this is why so many people have such varying opinions of the different waxes. Even the adhesive on the kit can make a difference on how the wax works. Plus, like you said, Mrs. C ...the way each person diamond paints is not the same, either. With so many factors involved, there is no way any one wax is going to be perfect for everyone all the time. Thank you for all the advice and information. Have a great day.

I do sometimes also use a three or four Placer with some of the bigger special shape drills. Works great! I like the Pretty Placers too...great for AB's. :) Thx for the info! 🙂

My favorites are the pink and blue wax. I’ve tried PaddyWaxx and Wee Wax but I can only Diamond paint with them for about fifteen minutes before I have to load up again. It’s probably an issue of user error. I also think the quality of your drills makes a difference in how long your wax lasts. I’m working on a kit and I have to reload my wax every thirty minutes or so (I can usually go about two hours). These drills must be dusty or something because I’m reloading a lot more frequently.

Interesting watch. Me? Glue dots till I die baby. For multiplacers I've been using that clear wax that came with a kit you featured (of course I can't recall the name... shimmerstich maybe?). It came with a little 3d diamond sticker attached to each square, and I bought like 8 extra because they were so cheap and very cute. But man yeah I too jumped all over paddywax and have maybe 30 scents with one use taken out now living in a drawer. I thought about putting them in my candle warmer. Hahaha. I just know what I like now and I have about 4 times what you were just showing. Maybe I'll give them out. *shrug* great info though, especially for those just starting.

I tried blutak and the other similar ones and found that in a hotter climate they don't work, having a tendency to string and, yes, end up on your canvas. The waxes have a similar issue in as far as not working when it's hot/humid (no aircon in my place)

For some reason I thought the see through pink wax was the good stuff. I probably have enough darl pink to throw out all the light pink wax and still have lots left.
    I'm a light touch.
I've never received the blue, white or yellow waxes. I'll have to hunt some down here in Canada.
I've been meaning to ger a least one pretty placer because I love doing those pencil/pen boxes and other special diamonds. (I think she was out of stock when I looked. )
Darn, I was going to put some in my hair. 🤣🤣🤣

When you said that they should have “sample” wax I understand when you mean but would they be free or not? If they are free then the full packs would have to more expensive so they can get a profit from the big thing and the sample.

I think she was implying more like a small sample size, as she seemed to be referring to the full sized PW bricks. I don't think a half or quarter sized package would strain most of us anyway. It's just a matter of us not creating a wax junk drawer.

Mrs Coffee, is there a link missing in the description? There’s a blue wax Amazon link and another blue wax link further down with nothing next to it?
Also, is all blue wax the same? I really want to try it and got some free in a kit, but didn’t know if it was “true blue wax”??

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but my wax doesn’t last long at all no matter what wax I use. Could it possible be how I press the drill on the canvas? Any suggestions?

    • @MrsCoffee1
      @MrsCoffee1  3 роки тому

Make sure your Packing your pen full of wax and if your a Hard presser try not pressing so hard. Make sure your completely cleaning old wax out of the pen and packing with new wax. Don't let wax sit out un covered use a Little Ziplock bag to store it in. Hope this helps.
