love is a homeless guy searching for treasure in the middle of the rain and finding a bag of gold coins and slowly finding out that theyre all filled with chocolate and even though he's heartbroken he cant complain cause he was hungry in the first place. Best line ever
+Anti-HyperLink At first, it's like you won the fucking lottery because from the outside, it looks like the best thing in the world. Then you kinda figure out that the reality of it is a bit shittier, and it isn't really what you were expecting at all. Then you figure you can't really complain because it's still better than what you started out with.
Anti-HyperLink I think it means that love isn't usually how you expected it to be, but it's still great. For example when you finally go out with your crush. You'll often find she isn't exactly like you thought she was, but usually you'll find she's still great.
I watch Bo's videos for 2 reasons: 1. Because he's a genius and frickin hilarious 2. The comments posted by people trying to figure out what the hell he's saying are almost as good as the actual video
Andrew Turturro It does, somewhat. But the thing is, a lot of people try being funny by doing or saying random shit that doesn't make sense. And to me, that's just not funny, and just gets down-right annoying in some cases. Which is why most comedians, or even comedy movies, are really bad now a days, because they don't try to do genuine humor, they just do random shit or say things that don't make any damn sense. Hence why I really love Bo Burnham, because he makes a perfect mixture of randomness and genuine humor, which makes it really funny. That's my view/opinion on it anyway.
jish kelly Because he adds in so many different things. Like he starts singing about sex, religion, slavery at one point, I think. And it's all kinds of random things. Hence the randomness. That's what I mean by him being random in the right way. What he says makes sense, but it's still random as heck.
billny33 I'm probably too late to reply, but "he cant complain cause he was hungry in the first place" doesn't make it sound like love's a disappointment
Yes. His comedic delivery is absolutely unparalleled... down to every pause, eyebrow/voice raise, everything about his visual performance just adds to how absolutely fckng hilarious he is... added bonus if sarcasm is your first language 😂❤
One of Bo's greatest works. Almost all of his works are just perfect. I can't believe how many sexual innuendos and jokes just flew over my head when I watched this a while in middle school. Now in college and wow Bo Burnham is seriously too damn clever. He was only 18 or 19 when he made this I think. Please do another special BO! We need more of your ironic, satirical, incredibly offensive and hilarious works . Good old days of youtube :)
I've listened to this hundreds of times and I'm just now realizing that when he says "love is your favorite meal for breakfast lunch and dinner" he's probably hinting at the fact that even your favorite meal would probably be ruined over time if you had it all the time, that you'd get sick of it, take it for granted, like most relationships- sounds amazing at first then fades horribly over time. It's just the law of conditioned responses in a more primitive situation with a shade of ominousness... damn Bo.
Ayy, I learned this too a bit ago in my class; Like indeed when you eat your favourite food everyday, you’ll get annoyed from it; he said If you see the same girlfriend/boyfriend every day; you get annoyed from him/her too
he has actually made 4. He has an unnamed special on comedy central, he has wordswordswords, what, and now he has make happy. He has also appeared in parks and recreation and has had his own mini series
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I seriously find myself singing this song or randomly just saying the "Love Is" part many times, even a couple times a week sometimes. Bo's stuff just has a way of sticking with you. Even more so if you followed him from the beginning. Love ya, Bo. Never change.
Woah I felt like I was the only one here in 2020 this is the first comment I've seen that isn't from like 5 years ago lol btw anyone gonna watch promising young woman I am just because of Bo tbh

I havent heard this song in 7 years easy. And I just sang along 70% of it straight from memory first go. This was one of my favorites from way back then.
Gracious sakes… this guy was one of the great comedians at this young age. I’m purty old and I don’t remember anyone as funny as him. I’m so impressed. He can lift my spirits anytime. I just watch some videos and I’m immediately laughing out loud. He’s gonna heal a lot of people.

It's funny to see this comment a year later. Now that I've seen almost all his content and have come to appreciate it fully , I'd be the first to say that what Bo does is nothing short of lyrical genius. It isn't one bit random.
It makes me kind of sad to watch this now, knowing how much time has passed and all that has happened since then. All that Bo has endured mentally. It just kind of pains me to watch what now is likely one of the things (I assume) he most regrets. Crazy to see how much he has grown since then

OMG! THIS, though!!! This is the Bo that made me fall in love with his humor and stand up/comedy. Snarky, intellectual, cocky, fun, sometimes controversial, dry and witty jokes that are somewhat offensive (only to select few) yet all completely relevant and true. Don't get me wrong, as completely amazing and still relevant his content is now, I sometimes long for the simpler days when he was still young and not trying so hard to be "deep" and shit. That's just my own view on it though, I'm not trying to say it's the right or correct one. Just miss young cute Bo with his cockiness and swag.
