- Mary Kay “Katie” Wohlfarth was described as a beautiful person who was young at heart and in love with life. The 68-year-old was never seen without a smile, and her friends recounted how the little things in life would fill her with joy. Mary was a resident of Akron, Ohio, where she worked as an antique dealer and had quite a high standing in society. Loved by almost everyone she met, her friends and family had no idea why Mary was made the target of such a gruesome crime.
Mary’s family stated that they last spoke to her on June 17, 2019. Since then, she completely dropped off the radar and was unreachable over calls or texts. Besides, she even failed to attend to business at her antique shop, and there was no news about the missing woman for two days. Worried and anxious about Mary’s well-being, her family finally reported her missing on June 19, and the police immediately began their investigation. Fortunately, it did not take long for authorities to find a breakthrough in the case.From the beginning of the investigation, the police made a massive headway as the victim’s body was recovered from the suspect’s storage unit. Besides, the suspect in question was also captured on CCTV footage, and it did not take long for authorities to determine his identity as 35-year-old Michael J. Olson. Michael, who worked as a handyman, knew Mary and had even worked for her on previous occasions. However, there was no indication of an apparent altercation or feud between the two that would have led to murder.

Exactly. He could have not bothered! But, tape video said the killer was getting his post delivered there....which was against policy. So, he checked video recordings at units. Thank God as cops didn't even though she was reported missing.

Sometimes I actually have some sympathy for the perpetrator too, but in this case I have absolutely NONE. It definitely all goes to his victim. I'd be surprised if this is his only one.
The detective did great asking these questions. They made sure he couldn't make up any lies to claim innocent. For example he can't say "we dated that's how my DNA is on her or why I drove her car" that defense is off the table.
He thinks she's ugly, he obviously hasn't seen himself in the mirror lately because his idea of "ugly" is obviously very egotistical on his part.
She may be old but even older women like the victim can still look gorgeous as they were when they were in their twenty's

He was in jail, the body was still in the store unit, it would've been rotten after a couple of days, the smell, or maybe his dad going into the store unit to pick something up, he was gonna get caught either way.

If there is one thing I've learned from watching a whole bunch of these videos other than don't commit crimes it's
Maintaining eye contact = deception

A moderate amount of eye contact = deception
Usually, when someone is telling the truth, it is a mixture of the two. There's a balance with an innocent person. They don't maintain eye contact, but they also don't avoid eye contact. Guilty people do one or the other to the extreme. Either they look at you dead in the eyes and don't break eye contact, or they never make eye contact but for maybe a split second here and there.
One word. Opportunity. Situational awareness is key. No one is off limits to comitt harm. Demonic people are Great Pretenders.

Crossing arms, hand movements, increased breathing which can be seen on video playback of the interrogation, how you respond to answers etc. Fir instance when asked if he went to thr storage unit on Monday, he delayed his response by saying, oh what's today Wednesday, hmm Monday im not sure. Mu days blend together. That was a way to act to distance himself snd make it appear Monday would not be eventful and he would not be recall such an uneventful day

Some people who commit horrendous crimes like this are self-aware of how horrible they are but can't help it and if they truly hate doing what they do but have no self control, they will do things to make sure they get caught so they can't hurt anyone else.

@@wolfiethefurrygamer1908 well according to your theory, with which i tend to strongly to agree, this would have to completely lay in his subconscious. i don't at all agree that he wanted to get caught. this monster is an extremely dumb monster. paying attention to the chronology, he didn't attempt to disguise himself until AFTER the attack. this means that directly prior to the attack, his mind was focused SOLEY on and was consumed by it, which is why he laid in wait for her without a disguise because he was already in her unit. AFTER the attack, he had enough, albeit too late, presence of mind to THEN disguise himself coming and going from hers and his storage unit. he simply wasn't smart enough for the magnitude of his crime to get away with it. he decided to rape and kill her and had to WAIT for her to do it. it is not as though ms wohlfahrt was with him in his unit or her unit and helping him where she yelled at him for being a demon, and THEN he snapped...he WAITED for her after LEAVING her unit, until she returned, THEN he returned to her unit to attack her, THEN he disguised himself like some wannabe KKK member.

Asking him if they had been dating was very strategic. Since they likely found his semen at the crime scene, they wanted to make sure he couldn't present an alternative explanation. I mean, they still had him on murder, but a jury likely goes harder if there was also sexual assault involved.

One thing i learned early on in life is to not associate yourself with low life losers, don't help them, do not build any type pf personal relationship with them because it will almost always backfire on you. Keep your social circle tight and be very careful of what type of people you let in because there are a lot of guys like him out there who have nothing to lose and will try to take what you have because they know they are too weak to get it themselves.

The fact that the family is not hesitant to help in the search would not necessarily exonerate them, but it certainly speaks to their favor.
i think that statement was made in hindsight. we all understand looking for someone doesn't exonerate them since there are such cases and not seldom...but after the presentation of evidence it's just so clear how much they cared for her, which i think lay at the root of the statement of exoneration.

What makes this so terrifying for me worrying about my mom, my girlfriend, my sisters and every other friend or loved one who is a girl or woman is the fact that there are tons of these sick, homicidal, sadistic assholes we have to share this world with. Also while my mother and sisters are generally aware and looking out for these types, my girlfriend, who is very pretty, doesn’t think a thing like this could happen to her when in reality nobody is really safe. I pray everyday, through out the day, that they will be safe under Gods protection and I have to believe that or I would always be racked with worry for them.
I never go out after 6pm. I never go where anybody is three people across on sidewalks, I cross. I keep myself in check. I watch always and trust nobody. You have to. the only thing i would disagree with, from the evidence, is that he is completely clueless to what being a narcissist is, which is one of the hallmarks of narcissism or npd. he KNOWS the word itself because this word has been used in his presence to describe who he is, from the perspective of his ex and his certain other hapless victims. however for him to be able to project this, he would have to be able to appreciate on a conscious or even subconscious level what a narcissist is, and this is a paradox that practically never occurs in the true narcissist, which he is lets be clear. he is indeed describing himself, but he doesn't know or understand that he is describing himself. that just happened to be the case. this means for him to have used the term, in concert with his other statements he was most likely trying to play the victim, which was supported by those false statements of receiving abuse from his ex girlfriend, which in turn was an attempt to justify the rape and murder...again only cognizant of the fact that making such statements is something only "victims" do, but not necessarily understanding or having an in depth appreciation for what they mean. this guy was waaaaaaaaay too dumb for that.

I suppose people would commit more crimes if they were there longer. Some people don’t need barely any time at all.
Storage places just want to rent to normal, non criminals that need extra storage. Homeless people have a much larger percentage of issues such as drug addiction and lack of income that make them less stable and cause more problems. But this crime could have happened whether he lived there or not. Just him being there at all was the danger.

Just how calm he was through this entire ordeal is beyond me. People that snap, do not duck down hiding and sneaking about. He stood at his vehicle and just decided this was what he was going to do and goes right ahead with commiting the most hideous surprise act of violence on an innocent lady that's just been helping him.

I think the cops lied by saying they heard he was dating her. Brilliant!! I believe it was to make him defensive and to get him to deny having any sexual contact with her (consensual or forced). If that is true - great move by the detectives.
That's what they do, they get the suspect to lie as much as possible, based on the facts they have already.
He didn't snap. He knew exactly what he was going to do when he snuck in and waited for her. I keep thinking about that high five they shared shortly before.

He knew the truck and unit he was inside, both units actually, were recorded. He had to want to get arrested. No way he even considered not getting caught after 5 minutes. When he sat on tail gate thinking , it was him thinking about the camera. He knew arrest was certain and still did it
