I know its been a year, but if you can find at least a purple belt, and some mats, and maybe you can even get some friends to pitch in, and have a grassroots class of your own. People do it all the time.
We used to call this the Lone Ranger throw when we were kids! The Ranger would always incorporate this in his fights, yea I’m old and loved all the old westerns Gunsmoke ,Have Gun will travel and The Green Hornet!
For whatever reason the Judo and BJJ community have been separate with not a lot of cross over as far as exchanging world class standing technique and world class grappling techniques. This is why I always try to bring Judo players into our BJJ club and do my best to learn as much from them as I can
Target just above the belt knot directly in the center. The toes are pointing out in the direction you are throwing so for Yoko the foot is sideways, and for regular Tomoe the toes are pointing directly upward as the directionality of the throw is over your head in the standard version. Hope that helps
Im not a pro but this throw isnt designed to counter single leg takedowns but to use your opponents momentum against them, if someone is coming at you quickly then you might manage, id suggest learning the throw and testing it on a partner that tries to attempt a single leg takedown
I assume you meant without the gi? You can use this throw without the gi but the grips will be much weaker making it difficult to control the finishing throw. If all you wish to do is launch the gi in the air then by all means enjoy
Like judo throw for jiu-jitsu fighter
I really wish my town had Jiu-Jitsu classes, this would be fun to learn.

This is a Judo move

Certainly my favorite throw, & by throw I mean, I’ve certainly been down a quarter to half point if I mess up this throw in a tournament
Why are these types of throws so rare? Finding any tutorial on how to do anything on your back requires deep searching.

He did the Beyblade with him lol
Where is the foot placed? Hip or belly above belt knot? Middle ? Same foot placement for throwing either direction? Thank you.

yes foot placed directly above belt knot dead center running along the line of the belt for either direction.
At the belt
Hi! Just wondering if we could use this technique to counter a single leg take down?

It would be best to use the sumi gaeshi to counter the single leg
@@thejiujitsupedia , agree..but it has to be quick right after he graps the leg
@@qnguyen4490 yes needs to be quick for sure but keeping the grips tight and eliminating space is critical before dropping under for the counter.
ever try Uchimata?
How come one never sees a this in a Yoko Tomo Nagi throw MMA fight?
Need grips for this throw, unless someone is charging you with a sword lol
Can this be done with the gi
