- Skull and Bones the new game we are looking at today with a Review of what it is and how its gameplay plays. First we will review the need to know basics of Skull and Bones before jumping into deeper gameplay impressions. Under the pretense of learning from ruthless top dogs, shipwrecked ordinary men and women from all over the world, built their name across the lawless Indian Ocean. They had one aim in mind - to one day topple those in power and eventually compete with one another to rule as the most fearsome pirate kingpin.

You actually do trade at end game quite a bit, it expands a lot. I am kingpin 17. Personally the game feels like GTA online to me with the business at end game because of the empire building and I love it. I will also remember crossing to the east indies for a very long time. The storms are epic. It looks like you haven't reached the amazing empire building, just wait till you get there. It is fantastic. Isn't the swearing great, lmao. The opium use is gnarly too. Subbed for honesty.
yeah its a good point I have been trading pieces of eight it just didn't really come up during the review (I don't write a script this is all in one take).
Yeah the pricing aside, the game is awesome and fun as hell. Especially the endgame empire building, so good. UA-camrs are 100% farming the hate train for views over this game and it is pissing me off.
If you don't see the joy of memeing about healing cannonballs we probably wouldn't get along😂
Thanks for taking the time! I've been loving it, and you touched on something that really stuck out to me. It feels like the devs decided on a focus, being a pirate captain (not just a pirate), and they've stuck to it.
I love that when my brother or spouse asked where to buy a particular lumber for their new ship, i could introduce then to tracking blueprints and finding tradelanes to raid. It was a whole new gameplay loop for them, and they're both still loving being hunter and thief, rather than a consumer.

Love the review. The amount of times I was nodding and saying “yeah you’re spot on” I’m enjoying the game a lot! It’s different that the boat is the character and the pirate is just for dressing up. Lol

This game is actually pretty good if you enjoy vehicle combat games Im not defending Ubisoft and they’re practices I still feel the game should at least been $50 but we all know they put their games on sale moderately fast anyways this game is nowhere as bad as the hate its getting quit clout chasing and try it

When you mentioned about boarding mechanics, I was thinking about how people would complain whether or not it was included. It's like when Ubisoft made certain changes to AC games that players wanted and some of the players complained anyway. Can't please everyone I suppose. I'm glad boarding is not in the game. It would definitely ruin the combat system.

This is great to hear..i fn loved the division..played the wheels off it..you shouldn't be surprised that people hate the game .i feel like there is a vast group of people that hate every Ubisoft game that comes out..its just the popular thing to do..they see youtubers doing it for negativity views and they spew the same shit out..
I hate it BC it’s not the full pirate experience nor a full game in general. It’s a bare bones ship game with pirates as a backdrop.

Its a good pirate game fun to play...its the journey...keeping beta data play over to launch was mistake i think the haters are people who want end game instantly and exploiters. I had a battle today with just the PVE aspect and i was like hella fun i haven had that in a game in along time. I understand PVP but i hope they balance the PVE gameplay. My hope for the game is that the PVP doesnt take over the end game. AArrrr
I like the game... Its fun... but its not 80 bucks ps5 fun... Its 50 bucks ps4 fun.. So I understand people feeling a way about it... This just does not feel or look like a game that should have come out on ps5 for 80 euros
Ill have a look at it when its on sale in the future maybe. I dont see a reason to rush to buy it now when Helldivers is out for half the price and games like dragons dogma 2 around the corner to occupy my time even further
If its anything like every other ubisoft game its usually better to wait for them to sort it out first anyway lol
I wonder if people know that there is a setting in options to fully automate the tree cutting game. I use the FK out of it because i cant pass a damn tree without getting that fkn wood >.

well i didnt use it at first , BUT i use it now because it allows me to keep an eye out around me for things that wanna kill my face.

1. Yes most people who follow the game know.
2 The fact there’s a setting to turn off an entire game mechanic, isn’t a fix, it’s avoiding the problem.

Certain other youtubers promote the hate for views, then people take their word as fact when its not. Dreamcastguy is one of them... Literally everything he ever posts he is wrong about.

About the boarding situation, they could have made it a risk vs reward kind of thing. Can I do a boarding action now or should I wait until more ships are sunk. But I agree in pvp I don’t see how it would work. Might just do it for PvE and make it not possible in pvp 🤷🏻♂️
100% agree on all points. I put about 16 hours in the open beta and had a blast (Ha! Get it? Pirates?... Cannons?) every second. Do not regret the premium preorder at all. It's not for everyone, but they can play something else lol
Ohh. And a lot of the people who are hating on this game have never even played it. They’re nothing but sheep on the Ubisoft hate train who on things because it’s cool to hate on them. Probably Fortnite/Apex players who wouldn’t know a good game if it hit them in the face
Nice review. I was considering getting this but couldn't make up my mind until I watched this review. I noticed there is now a free 8-hour trial in the Ubisoft store and so I am currently playing it. I am used to playing Sea of Thieves and though I am trying not to compare the two, it's difficult not to. As a result I am struggling to get used to the mechanics of the game, yet I am getting round to it. I also can't help seeing this a a sea-based Starfield (Seafield) with its cut scenes method if playing, but once the free trial is over I'll make a decision as to whether to pay for the game and continue.

I’m glad I played the trial a few hours ago. It saved me 70$ the game isn’t completely bad it’s just not for me and that’s ok but I’m sure there will definitely be people who will enjoy it
Same, it seemed mediocre but the 3rd person ship combat is just dog water. I wanted it to be sea of thieves for PlayStation 😢
That's a take lol, if you enjoy the game you enjoy it. It's your time an money anyone giving you shit for that just sucks. I personally just didn't care for it. I thought it was gonna be more in line with sea of thieves not world of warships combat. Which for me just isn't it.

Honestly I can see this becoming what for honor became and that’s a massive comeback game with a paradigm shift. They can definitely add things in overtime to change the overall opinion. I’m gonna give it a go, great video dude.
I've seen ppl complain about how you can't go off the ship take a swim or fight while boarding, when you look at this game as a fantasy pirate naval warfare game it makes sense, just look at World of Warships, it is similar only you do things within the games main menu, here in Skull and Bones you don't have those menus but you get to go on shore and craft build etc.

I never write reviews. I play this with mates, and it’s actually so fun. People hate on this game because it’s not black flag. I can only see this game getting better with updates… just like the division.
Not sure I agree with your reviewing method. If a game is good and woirth playing what does it have to do with any other games that have nothing to do with it? If you're going to compare one game with another via the review score they should at least be related, in as much as, if someone had the money to buy only one, then which one? It it doesn't make sense to mark down a good game because another fifty games in totally different genres are all better in your opinion. New viewers will come to your videos without the benefit of context and just see, oh that game I thought was supposed to be really good, this guy only thinks of as a 4 out of 10. Your scoring method would be interesting over a ten year period, for example, to see where the really good years were although, even then, it wouldn't be obvious unless you knew that these 3 out of 10 games are actually good compared to other years games of that score.

While I appreciate the considered response, you have touched on a really interesting point. It would be confusing because this isn't the current norm, but have you considered the current norm is actually a terrible system? (50 games with 7/10 helps no one coming from a review house with 20 different reviewers). This is a year long project (at least) but percentile ranking would be so much more helpful.
And the truth is; no one has the guts to do it. This WILL get me blacklisted later on this year because it breaks the status quo. Reviewers get the keys, devs never get lower than 7/10, the loop goes on. It encourages and even rewards mediocrity on both sides.

And it's like I've always thought, if everyone thought the same way, we wouldn't need more than one review. You give a different perspective than most UA-camrs, more open-minded and broad, well done mate
At 5:00 the cannon balls exit cannons at 45 degree trajectory and I'm not a fan of the arcadey ship acceleration. Seems to be a bunch of other silly things by the sounds of it. Sounds fun enough but it also comes across like a free to play multiplayer game with a very high entry price.
The game has the right frame but not built on any further, it's missing some important elements, like a world government and marines to enforce its laws, furthermore it needs a bounty system, Haki training and quests to find different demon fruits. If Ubisoft addresses these issues the game will get the respect it deserves 👍

i found it weird alot of videos ive seen of it and most the crew is always all woman for some reason its abit weird. no selection at all? or any hiring. but yeah boarding is a need and a killer for most i think there is a way todo it. and it just seems quite weird. sid meier's pirates was the best pirate game made in my view and no one has ever managed to beat it. pirates did trade they also signed on with nations as privateers. but as well the ships in it and the styling of crew to other things just doesn't fit for me and the price is just too high. ima stick to helldivers 2 game has a good price for its content Ubisoft could of done way better than this and that's what i think most people realize and don't want a part of it. id rate it 6/10 just missing to much and weird choices in some areas.
you actually can be a commodities traitor if you really want to. Just don't expect very big profit margins, but there are commodity traitors in the two main hubs and they will ask you to go and get supplies for them and you can buy things at low value and sell them for high value at other places
I actually really like this game. It’s basic and doesn’t have overly complicated systems. You get your first ship and you kill, plunder, smuggle, and trade your way to bigger and better ships. I’m not at endgame yet and I can’t wait to get there. Ship combat is solid and graphics are great.
I never played black flag but this game made me buy it because it’s on sale right now on steam
No hate. Glad you enjoy it. Looks like a mobile game to me. Can't lie, a bit disappointed you wouldn't expect better from a $110 game. The 10-year-old game this was based on is 10000x better. Upper Eschelon's video on this explains why well.

appreciate your review. been overwhelmed with reviews that just contrast and compare and nitpick. yeah, it's overpriced, and yeah, every game has some issues, but imo it is good for what it is. i wasn't gonna even touch skull and bones. cause of all the hype and comparisons o black flag, i was unsure of what to expect. i thought the naval battles in black flag were kinda fun but annoying to me in an assasins creed stealth combat rpg. but i tried the demo beta and was surprised how much i wanted to keep playing skull and bones. It's a sea shanty rpg where the player plays the entire boat, captain, crew, weapons, and all. cool
I enjoyed it too, glad to see your response to some the baseless whinging around this game like ship boarding, however the end game seems incomplete and grindy which I believe will be improved just like other live service ubi games.
I really enjoy this game. I think its only going to get better with time as they add more things. A good portion of people are just mad because " its not black flag" i do understand that because it was originally marked as a black flag DLC, but i went in a diffrent direction. The only thing i think they need to do sooner than later is add an open world pvp area.
AC4 Black Flag is better
