This was the perfect way to end the trilogy. As always, the animation, music, and flying sequences are incredible. I love how this movie focuses on Hiccup and Toothless as individuals. (Hiccup, struggling to lead the clan and realize that dragons need to be free and on their own, and Toothless, reconnecting with his own kind, finding a mate, and fulfilling his role as alpha.) I love all the new dragons introduced, the hidden world is gorgeous, Grimmel serves his purpose as a dark, alternate version of Hiccup really well, and the ending is so mature, bittersweet, and beautiful. I love that DreamWorks went in this direction. This is one of the few trilogies, in my opinion, where all three movies are undoubtedly amazing, and I couldn't be happier with it.
This was such a sweet end to the movie Franchise. I loved this movie especially the new abilities of Toothless. What got me is at 38:56 that’s the transition of Hiccup and Toothless coming together and trusting each other, now he had to let him go. Fun facts: • How to Train Your Dragon is the first animated franchise in history to have three films or more and have all of them nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. • This film has the best opening weekend of the franchise with $55 million. It then only took 12 days to gross over $100 million domestically. • When Hiccup is making Toothless a tail that will allow him to fly on his own, Astrid says "you tried that once before; he didn't want it," which happened in Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury (2011).
Grimmel (while I hate his guts) is a great villain as he is what Hiccup would've become if Hiccup killed Toothless when they first met. This was also confirmed by the director Deblois to be the case.
I really don't think they should make this into a live-action remake. I think it's perfect the way it is. I'd see it, but I really don't think they should make it.
I agree mostly because the dragons here are both fearsome and lovable creatures, and I just don't think they can adapt that in live action. They will make the dragons look like GoT, and I'm sure it'll look great but not lovable great.
@@yolandag8436 Have you seen the How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular? They were able to make this dragons look realistic but still be fearsome and lovable.
@@Ay3shizzle Yep, Dean Deblois who wrote and directed all three of these movies is also writing and directing the live-action. That's the only reason I have some hope.
I was 28 when I saw this and I as well as every other adult in the theater were crying their eyes out just as hard as the kids. There is no reason to not include the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy among the greatest movie trilogies of all time.
This movie is by far the hardest i have cried to a film EVER. The how to train your dragon movies were already my favorite animated films of all time, but this one REALLY stuck with me because about 2 months prior to this films release, I had lost both my childhood dogs of 12 years in a span of half of year. That ending absolutely broke me into tears in the theater, and I was balling my eyes out for half an hour straight. It wasn't even at the part where the dragons had to leave, it was the scene where tootless and hiccup reunite and they do one final ride. The music playing when toothless recognizes hiccup is where i always break. One of the most perfect endings to ANY film ever made, and I cry hard every time I watch it. Hell, I'm crying to your guys' reaction. In my opinion, the greatest animated films of all time, and my favorite movie trilogy ever made.
You know its even more sad when u realize it but i wasn't one of the people who watched the 3 movies one after the other, i watched everything in order as a child. The 1st movie when i was 7, the shorts the 1 series two seasons long, then the 2nd movie at 11 yrs, the 2nd series 6 seasons long and then finally the 3rd movie at age 16. 9 Years. Even before i saw it when i heard it was the last one i cried for days and counted down the months only to then cry even more in theaters. And while you crying they hit you with the end credits , then the dams just burst. Im 20 yrs old now and Im still crying, weve left this series long with our childhood and im so blessed to have been a child when this series was out. and there has been a trend of people reacting to this series on youtube and you guys are by far my favourite i love this series and seeing u guys love it and cry for it too was just heartwarming. imagine how much more you guys wouldve cried if youll kept up with this whole franchise. I ask that you guys please react to everything else this franchise has to offer. I hope you guys will and ill be waiting.
Let’s just sit and think about that sunset scene early on with Hiccup and Stoic years ago… reminiscent of Simba and Mufasa “everything the light touches is our kingdom” scene 💋 👨🏾🍳
This was nothing short of an epic, jaw dropping, emotional rollercoaster for us all. Glad you guys enjoyed this trilogy, really hope you give the tv series a try one day. It’s pretty good and connects the first and second movies through the years pretty well.
Every major part of my life this series was here. I was 8 when first came out. I was 12 when the second one came out. And then I was 17. I love these movies.
I have seen this trilogy several times, watched countless reactions to it, and that end scene where toothless hugs hiccup with so much emotion, STILL makes me cry.
When Gregg says "this is Hiccup" he sounded like either Adam Sandler's Little Nikki or the scene in grownups when he goes "they pay with maze" and I LOVE IT!!!
Thank you for not only my childhood memeories but reacting to one of greatest movie trilogies to ever exist. Not even animated just one of the greatest trilogies in general
This was just such a good trilogy i still remember how much i cried when hiccup did the last roar to round all the dragons up and go to the hidden world
I saw all three films thousands times, but I still cry my eyes off every time I see it. Seeing all this comments is making me cry even harder right now. HTTYD feels like home to me, it is my home. Forever.
I watched this in theaters when it came out and went with my sister. I sobbed like a baby, I was heavily depressed for like a month or two after that lmfao. I grew up with this trilogy so Hiccup letting him go live his life was incredibly moving.
This movie was gorgeous in the cinema, I'm so glad I got to see all three of them on the big screen. The art direction, the cinematography, the music, it's all amazing. I will always cherish the fact that I grew up with the characters too, the first movie came out as I entered highschool and the last came out after I finished university. If you guys want more context for the movies I definitely suggest watching the tv shows, they have amazing storylines as well.
The try not to cry challenge is right 😂😂 this by far one of the best trilogies ever. Every movie just has so much heart 😭 I re watched these recently and they hit me even more! I love seeing people react to seeing hiccups family its always so wholesome ❤️ This trilogy really is animation at its best. Some things and stories are best told and shown animated! 10/10 😭❤️
This trilogy absolutely broke me but made me happy. It was one of the best animated films I have ever seen in my life❤ I'm a 43-year-old woman and I've seen a lot of animation but this is the best
Great reaction guys! This movie really is a beautiful and emotional end to the Dragons trilogy. To this day I’m sad it’s over but at least they ended it with a bang and the journey’s been epic. The movie does make a great message of how sometimes sacrifices need to be made even if they’re hard ones for the greater good. Man I can’t stop crying at this movie. What a masterpiece trilogy about a beautiful relationship between Hiccup and his dragon Toothless.
I saw the first and this one in theaters. I was 7 when I saw the original and was 17 when this one came out. Growing up with these characters and having to let them go at the end absolutely crushed my soul when I first saw it. These films are some of the only films to make me consistently cry every time I see them. I cannot say enough how much I love these films and how much they impacted me growing up.
I love how you watched httyd 1 2 and 3 together and that still brings the tears but I’ve been there for years through 1 2 race to the edge and 3 and this is the only movie I cried at 😂
The first one came out when I was very very little, so growing up through the years and watching these movies was incredibly special. Gosh this trilogy was such a beautiful ride
After that first and second reaction (to the first and second movie) and seeing the emotional depth and knowledge you both had I had to INSTANTLY click this reaction
I was 16 when I first saw the first HTTYD...on October 16, 2010, my parents and I rented it from Blockbuster's, so that dates me. By the end of the Forbidden Friendship scene in the first movie, I had fallen in love with this movie. Four years later, on June 13, 2014, I saw How To Train Your Dragon 2, not expecting to love Eret, Son Of Eret as much as I did, and still do, and not expecting to cry as much as I did. I was *bawling* in the theater. I had gotten spoiled on Tumblr about a certain scene in HTTYD2 (aka the scene that broke me; who caused Stoick's death), but I still just bawled. The execution of this, the voice work by Jay (Hiccup), Gerard (Stoick), Cate (Valka), and Craig (Gobber) (plus the rest of the cast), plus the animation and the score by the amazingly talented composing genius that is John Powell. It was a scene that I've held with me for the past nine years since I first saw it in theaters. As for Hidden World, my mom and I went to see it (as opposed to when I saw HTTYD2 alone) the day it opened, February 22, 2019. My mom cried more than I did, and I'm sure I would have cried more, had she not been there. Eret, Son Of Eret, from the day I "met" him, on June 13, 2014, I've loved him. I may never get the privilege to meet Kit Harington (the voice of Eret) or Dean DeBlois (the director of HTTYD), but I just want to commend the both of them for their beautiful work. Like I said, I didn't expect to love Eret as much as I do, and, go ahead, call me crazy, but, I do turn to Eret, Son Of Eret in times of need and comfort and sadness...he was "there" when my Grandma died, and I don't know what I would've done if he hadn't been there. Thank you for reading my novel of a comment (I'm an author, so I do get carried away), and I just wish that DreamWorks would make a series between the second and third movies, like they did with the series between the first and second movies, and I know I'm not alone in that sentiment.
I commented something similar on the last one too, but I was a huge fan of the books growing up. These movies are NOTHING like the books, but they're incredible! I'm a huge fan of both the books and the movies! Hiccup's ending monologue, though, is straight from the books, so when I heard that for the first time, I SOBBED. It still makes me cry like a baby every time. It felt like my whole childhood was being wrapped up in a nice little bow, but every time I pick up one of the books or watch one of the movies, I get to revisit one of the best parts of my childhood.
When I tell you I squealed when the noti popped up!! I just know Greg will be a MESS!!💔💔💔💔💔 my heart breaks for the guy! Truly an amazing trilogy. Thank you for taking us in this journey with y’all
It’s a minor detail in comparison but i loved that Astrid kept riding her own dragon it further confirmed that the transformation and that it’s now about genuine profound connections between humans and dragons no longer an exploitative one. This series is perfection.
yesss the ending of one of the best Dreamworks maybe one of the best animated trio movie we had 🥹 this movie was my childhood fr 😭 I remember when it came out my dad took me to the movies, now i’m grown n shit I don’t speak to my dad often, it sucks how much you can grow apart from yo parents but we know that love is still there 💙
There was 1 short movie they made after the first HTTYD called Gift of the Night Fury. And it links to this part 20:25 where Hiccup made an auto-tail and Astrid says "you made it before, he didn't want it" as well as a bonus short film after the last movie titled How To Train Your Dragon: Homecoming. Would recommend you guys react or even just watch it for some pure wholesomeness and more dragon shenanigans 😊
Great reaction! My Sis-in-law named the Light Fury "Toothpaste", then you have "Toothless and Toothpaste"! Her 3 year old loved this movie and the Night- and Light Fury.
Really hope they do the live action movie justice. These movies thrived in the animation scene and its hard to think they can recapture that lightning for the live action.
All 3 of these movies are my favorite trilogys. I love them so much. Never seen you so emotional in a trilogy like this before Greg...but its well deserved. They are making a live action movie. Hope they dont screw it up
HTTYD is my absolute favorite animated trilogy of all time. The storytelling (both verbal & visual), its character progression, the emotion, and obviously, its drop-dead gorgeous animation and cinematography. Having Roger Deakins involved with these films really added a whole new level of cinematic beauty. I watch this whole trilogy in one sitting every few months and it has never dropped in quality for me.
I remember looking at my dog after watching this and telling him “ you fall in love you better bring her home or stay single cause I am not letting you go😂.” Hell no that’s my baby.
I am so happy that they ended on the note that they still interacted with the dragons in some way, I found myself thinking the separation felt slightly too forced at the end, so the positive ending with the babies and dragon babies is so much more heart-warming saying that although they can't live together they can still get along and see one another as equals
This trilogy is my favorite. I watched the second and third movie in theater :") Truly magical. These movies left a forever lasting impression on me. I'm a sucker for great world and character building. HTTYD really SERVED everything I love about animation movie or movie in general. Love you guys' reactions!
Great reaction guys knew this movie would break you hard the 2nd one is my favoutire but this one is the perfect and bittersweet end to the trilogy i knew this one would break you even harder than the first because we have to say goodbye to Toothless and the dragons because humanity doesnt deserve them yet 😢love how this trilogy is so adult and all about sacrifice.I love how Toothless and Hiccups last moment is him hugging Hiccup and echos there first physical contact his nose leaving Hiccups hand 😭Also love how Toothless gets his happy ending meeting the Lightfury a cousin/subspecies to his and live as king and queen of the dragons!
The voice actor for Hiccup also stars in The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicolas Cage. Knowing that he voiced Hiccup there were parts that I was waiting for a dragon to show up. Pretty good watch all and all I feel.
I adore the fact that the way they end it implies that the dragons were and are real, they just haven’t returned yet because we don’t deserve them. “Until the dragons can return, in peace”
Not sure if you guys watch TV series, but there are a couple series that go in between the first two movies and one that takes place over 1000 years later in the modern day. They are called Dragons: Race to the Edge and Dragons: The Nine Realms, respectively. Both are pretty good, but Realms in particular suffers from a reduced budget in terms of spectacle.
I grew up with this and Ive never cried so hard at an ending. I watched the first movie in 2011, and the second one in theaters. All through elementary and middle school I watched the show which develops the world so well and you learn to just love everyone in Berk and the whole environment. I grew up with Hiccup and Toothless. I watched Hidden World when I was in High School. I unapologetically love this world of How to Train Your Dragon. It will always be in my heart

I love all the new dragons introduced, the hidden world is gorgeous, Grimmel serves his purpose as a dark, alternate version of Hiccup really well, and the ending is so mature, bittersweet, and beautiful. I love that DreamWorks went in this direction. This is one of the few trilogies, in my opinion, where all three movies are undoubtedly amazing, and I couldn't be happier with it.
So happy that Greg and Tara reacted to this trilogy! This trilogy is so amazing and the best! 👍
This was such a sweet end to the movie Franchise. I loved this movie especially the new abilities of Toothless. What got me is at 38:56 that’s the transition of Hiccup and Toothless coming together and trusting each other, now he had to let him go.
Fun facts:
• How to Train Your Dragon is the first animated franchise in history to have three films or more and have all of them nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
I see what you mean but the film’s director is involved with the live action remake so I’d say it’s in good hands.
@@Ay3shizzle Yep, Dean Deblois who wrote and directed all three of these movies is also writing and directing the live-action. That's the only reason I have some hope.
@@Ay3shizzle As I said, I'll watch it, but I hope it's good.
I was 28 when I saw this and I as well as every other adult in the theater were crying their eyes out just as hard as the kids.
There is no reason to not include the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy among the greatest movie trilogies of all time.
This! Exactly 💯 this!!
I'll definitely be rewatching y'alls reactions to this trilogy often.
No matter how many times that I’d watched. I still cry over these movies. My all time favorite movies.
Yep here’s the reaction I was waiting for, crying like a baby now with you guys 🥺
When Gregg says "this is Hiccup" he sounded like either Adam Sandler's Little Nikki or the scene in grownups when he goes "they pay with maze" and I LOVE IT!!!
oh my god in the patreon intro, I LITERALLY said "i sound more like Little Nicky" haha
The thumbnail to this video gives me so much joy despite how you guys are depicted in it
This is honestly one of the best animated movie trilogies I have ever seen!
I’m commenting bc I’m so damn happy they did this trilogy.
this one got me SOBBING! love the references, love the kids, love the friendship... it's just awesome
Thank you for not only my childhood memeories but reacting to one of greatest movie trilogies to ever exist. Not even animated just one of the greatest trilogies in general
This was just such a good trilogy
i still remember how much i cried when hiccup did the last roar to round all the dragons up and go to the hidden world
The baby dragons at the end are called Nightlights
LET'S GO, MORE HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON!
Greg, you got such a good heart, man.
I need a good crying session every now and then.
PLEASE START THE RACE TO THE EDGE SERIES! You will love it. Much more Hiccup and Toothless in there
I saw all three films thousands times, but I still cry my eyes off every time I see it. Seeing all this comments is making me cry even harder right now. HTTYD feels like home to me, it is my home. Forever.
i dont think ive ever seen you both this emotional at the same time. this was a very wholesome reaction. thank you!
I'm not sure if you're interested, but there is a christmas special called Homecoming that takes place right before Hiccup and Astrid vist toothless.
I watched this in theaters when it came out and went with my sister. I sobbed like a baby, I was heavily depressed for like a month or two after that lmfao. I grew up with this trilogy so Hiccup letting him go live his life was incredibly moving.
The parallel from when he first touches him to where they reverse it always gets me, I lose it every single time 🥺
This movie was gorgeous in the cinema, I'm so glad I got to see all three of them on the big screen.
I love seeing people react to seeing hiccups family its always so wholesome ❤️
This trilogy really is animation at its best. Some things and stories are best told and shown animated! 10/10 😭❤️
This trilogy absolutely broke me but made me happy. It was one of the best animated films I have ever seen in my life❤ I'm a 43-year-old woman and I've seen a lot of animation but this is the best
This movie got me crying almost a hour 😭
Now that you've seen all three, bask...bask in the feelings this emotional rollercoaster of a trilogy!!!
Glad you guys enjoyed the ride ❤
I saw the thumbnail and instantly knew this was gonna be a certified banger
an awesome, emotional, and heart breaking movie.
This trilogy is one of THE best, ever!
I can´t explain how much I love How to Train your Dragon
Thank you for taking us in this
journey with y’all
Man I bawled hard at the end. We are ready yet for dragons to return.
It’s a minor detail in comparison but i loved that Astrid kept riding her own dragon it further confirmed that the transformation and that it’s now about genuine profound connections between humans and dragons no longer an exploitative one. This series is perfection.
35:27 Hicup was ready to die for his best buddy to have a good life that parts always gets me
yesss the ending of one of the best Dreamworks maybe one of the best animated trio movie we had 🥹 this movie was my childhood fr 😭 I remember when it came out my dad took me to the movies, now i’m grown n shit I don’t speak to my dad often, it sucks how much you can grow apart from yo parents but we know that love is still there 💙
There was 1 short movie they made after the first HTTYD called Gift of the Night Fury.
“They should do how to train your dragon 2025” “in the modern day” well.. how do I say this.
Greg you’re killing me!!!! Please have a box of tissues cause seeing you cry makes me sob!!!!! 😭😭😭😭 loved rewatching this with you guys! ❤
I watch this whole trilogy in one sitting every few months and it has never dropped in quality for me.
literally one of my favourite trilogies ever, httyd is simply beautiful
Been in a scream mood lately and that shirt is awesome. also just watched the other two reactions.
This is such a spectacular way to cap off the trilogy and honestly is one of the greatest 3rd films in any trilogy ever.
The voice actor for Hiccup also stars in The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicolas Cage. Knowing that he voiced Hiccup there were parts that I was waiting for a dragon to show up. Pretty good watch all and all I feel.
42:48
Funny how you predicted that they were going to make a live action film in 2025
The best part of finishing the trilogy is that I can loop the playlist for days!!
Thank you both for a wonderful adventure!
I adore the fact that the way they end it implies that the dragons were and are real, they just haven’t returned yet because we don’t deserve them. “Until the dragons can return, in peace”
I don’t think I’ve ever cried harder during movies than I have with the HTTYD trilogy, especially this one. Such good stories, and an amazing trilogy!
This is why you guys have more than a million followers. I love you guys ❤
I swear I love this duo! They have the softest heart
Grimmel is the opposite of Hiccup. Drago the opposite of Stoick
I one hundred percent agree. Like stoick changed but drago didn't and grimmel kills night furies and hiccup didn't.
Best moment is when Hiccup says goodbye to toothless, it is the reverse of when he puts his hand out in the first movie. Such a great callback!
The final chapter in this fun and adventurous trilogy.
What's also awesome is the tv series' fit in the spaces in-between.
It will always be in my heart
binged from the first movie reaction, and I’m so happy y’all got to watch this trilogy! one of the best film trilogies!
0:40 yooooo the rhyme! Greg is spittin’😂🔥
This still is one of the best trilogy movies ever made🙌
