    Glad you were so excited for Big Book Summer! That's quite a stack! James Swanson is a good writer. Yes, I agree with what you said - if it's 400 pages with notes, you can count it if you read the notes :) Have heard great things about Nathanial Philbrick, but I haven't read any of his books yet. We have In the Heart of the Sea on our shelves. Our used bookstore accept all kinds of books. But I already have more credits there than I can ever spend for the rest of my life - ha ha. I've never read Dosteovsky. I have plenty of books I REALLY want to read that I haven't gotten to yet! The Kennedy Women and Code Breaker both sound interesting. Suite Francais was wonderful! Really enjoyed that novel. Looks like a great summer of reading for you! I saw your comment on my blog, but most people will miss your link there. Just add your link for this video to the Sign-Up links list toward the end of the post (there are two links lists - the first one, with other links already added, is for sign-ups). Click the "Add Link" button there - it will help others find your video (they'll probably miss the link here in the comments). Glad you're participating again this year!

      Heart of the Sea is an amazing book. It was so well done.
      I had started Suite Francais and soft dnf'd it. I had read Fire in the Blood ages ago. It was a slow burn and I think it should have been titled something else, but I remember liking it. I'm not sure I would today because I've changed so much as a reader.
      I think I figured out the link. Thank you for letting me know. 🤗

    A psychologist I follow here on UA-cam once said that Einstein was a narcissist so it makes sense that he was manipulative.

    • @BookZealots
      @BookZealots  2 місяці тому +1

      Ooh! I like the psychologist you're following. I was going to say he was a narcissist, but it's so over said these days. I can see how Einstein would be labeled as that. His wife is very lucky to have gotten away from him; even though he pushed her away, a lot of women still won't leave. That probably irked him. His demands of her (literally a written out contract while they were married) were insane. He was a womanizer too and I can see how he must have charmed everyone in his life.
      thank you for sharing. I left a comment on your channel a few days ago hoping you're doing well.

      @@angieandthegreatworld Hi Angie. Is it just my channel? I've been having a lot of issues with youtube. People subscribing and youtube unsubbing them. And the same happening to me.
      I haven't forgotten about The Brothers Karamazov readalong. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions of what you had in mind for that book?

      @@BookZealots YT notified me about *this* reply. It’s so random. It’s not just you, though. Sometimes I only know that I have comments if I click on my videos. It’s very annoying.
      I don’t have any ideas for TBK. And I’m still in Mexico which limits the possibilities/options. 😔 I don’t even have a copy of the book. I’m very particular about translations but I’d be limited to the translations available online or on Libby.

    I've never read anything by Walter Isaacson but I'm now putting the Leonardo da Vinci book on my TBR list.

      I hope you enjoy his writing. A heads up about the book; IT IS HEAVY in weight. I think it's due to the quality of paper.

    It made me laugh when you talked about Prometheus being a high maintenance toddler, but low maintenance teen because that is how my youngest is. My oldest was so low maintenance as a kid and is now much higher as a teen. Maybe that’s the norm to switch? 😅
    That is a big pile of books! Will look forward to hearing what you read!

    • @BookZealots
      @BookZealots  2 місяці тому +1

      That is so cool to hear about your kids and how they switched. I'm not sure it's consistent, my daughter was the easiest baby but not as challenging as a teen. My other son was a hellion from the get go and never stopped. Still today he tries to push my buttons. LOL Prometheus made me learn how to parent differently. God knows what he's doing.
      Yes, I got a little carried away with the pile. I'm curious to what I'll get to as well. 🤣📚📚

    I have yet to figure out what my local Half Price wants. I haven't made a decent amount on anything there since I sold them some Doctor Who DVDs a few years ago. I'm going to try a different location and see if they history better.

    • @BookZealots
      @BookZealots  2 місяці тому

      I had to ask the Half Price manager to see what they wanted. It saves me time and effort of bringing them stuff they can't seel as well and my time while I'm waiting for them to go through the boxes I bring in.
      I'm really curious about the movies. I have tried seeling them movies and this was ages ago, but it wasn't a good return. I'm wondering if they are looking for specifics there as well.
      I hope it works out for you.

    Hi, hello and that's a lot of big books! The only Isaacson book I've ever read was Steve Jobs and I really enjoyed it. I've been struggling to find a big non-fiction book for this summer, I want something based on a wild event kinda like the Donner party book or the failed Everest summit book but just can't find something that catches my interest. Goodreads and StoryGraph are letting me down too! Any suggestions?

    • @BookZealots
      @BookZealots  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi, hello~ you sent me on a book quest. Nonfiction of adventure, but not necessarily about the Donner party of Everest, but this one came up for K2
      Life Lived Wild: Adventures at the Edge of the Map by Rick Ridgeway (but, I believe it has some of his other adventures)
      The Next Everest: Surviving the Mountain's Deadliest Day and Finding the Resilience to Climb Again Hardcover by Jim Davidson
      The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest Paperback by Anatoli Boukreev and G. Weston DeWalt
      other books:
      Forever on the Mountain: The Truth Behind One of Mountaineering's Most Controversial and Mysterious Disasters Paperback by James M. Tabor
      In the Kingdom of Ice: The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette Paperback by Hampton Sides
      I couldn't find any big books similar to Donner party. I'm surprised that so many are barely over 300 pages.
      I have Boone: A Biography by Robert Morgan I want to read, not quite the ice storm type of adventure book.
      Prometheus has a book he pulled off his shelf, but he hasn't read it yet, The Hunter Killers by Dan Hampton (over 400 pages with notes).
      Let me know what you decide to read and if I should add it to my list.

      You rock! I just got In the Kingdom of Ice: The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette by Hampton Sides from the library, they have 3 copies! I couldn't find any of the others and on Kindle they're like $15 ugh lol
      I"ll let y'all know how it turns out. I got 40% or so left in my Reacher book, then I gotta read the something Lies book that I waited 3 months to get. Thanks again!

      @@holt_arr LOL Thank you. We had fun searching. There were so many that sounded amazing, but they were less than 400 pages. I think I added a couple to my goodreads. I hope the Sides book is an excellent book. that is one I've added to my goodreads tbr. =) I just checked and I added FIVE books, LOL due to the book quest. So much fun! Thank you for letting me search.

    Rambling? I am the King of rambling. You can be the Queen of Rambling! I did not realize how much History books you have or read. That's nice. I love history. I have read once somewhere that Benedict Arnold was actually a pretty decent fellow and a good military man. I hope you find a book of his side of the story. I'm curious about him as well. It's raining outside so I am going to make some soup and watch a few or maybe more of your earlier videos.
    Thanks for sharing -James, & Bella.

    • @BookZealots
      @BookZealots  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi James, Rambling should be a prerequisite for all booktube creators. =) Yes, we are definitely history lovers and the bulk of our book inventory are nonfiction history books. Prometheus has a lot of text books too and I have a few fiction and classics, but those are slowly getting read and unhauled.
      Yeah, Benedict Arnold apparently was a good military man and kept getting passed up for promotions. And he got sick and tired of it and switched sides? I know there's more to the story. If I find that book, I will shout it from the roof! 🤔(thinking about how I can record that). LOL
      It's wet and dreary here as well and that means no mowing. I have to paint the basement bathroom. I'm currently listening to The Splendid and the Vile. It's pretty good.
      Hope you have a great day,
      Queen 👑Rambler aka Erion. LOL
