There are book tubers who have led me to buy books. Books that just sit there on shelves. You, my brother, have a hot for reading that makes me want to read. 😊 cheers mate!
Buddy. I just finished Hard Rain Falling on your recommendation and it was breathtaking. There was one line specifically in the last handful of pages that absolutely broke me. Floored by this novel.
The Grapes of Wrath is one of my all time favs!! so excited that you’ve started. it gets even better in the second half!! can’t wait to hear your final thoughts
Long legs was great! I highly recommend the horror movie Oddity. It had a small release in theaters and will be on Shudder eventually. It scared me much more than long legs, but I hadn’t heard anything about the movie!
Hello, I just started watching your channel for new books to read as I am new to reading consistently. I just finished two books recently I have really enjoyed and they are two of my Favourites. The two books are very similar, both being about a child’s life and living through civil wars in Africa. Both are nonfiction and true stories. One of them is “a long way gone” by Ishmael Bea who was a child abducted and forced into the civil war and then getting to America, and the second is “call me American” by Abdi Iftan who was a child running and avoiding war and finding a way to America. These two stories will draw you in and wonder what happens next in their lives. I loved these two books because they both told an amazing story, but it was all true and told me what life was like in other places in the world. I would think you would enjoy these books, and great videos, keep up the good work.
I love your vibe and channel. I’m also a Stephen King fan so that’s how I found you. Currently reading Hard Rain Falling, thanks for the recommendation
If you want a non-fiction that you can pick up every so often, I highly recommend “A Short History of Nearly Everything” by Bill Bryson! I found it both fascinating and fun.
I'm a huge Stephan king fan and misery and 11/22/63 are one of my favorite books of all time i cant wait to go deeper in some different authors thank you
I actually just snagged Hard Rain Falling from my local B&N, didn't expect to find it there when it wasn't even easy to find a reasonable price online. Just finished Butcher's Crossing by John Williams and excited to read Stoner. I'm going to be buying more from that collection. They pick great books and the books are just very well made, good paper, quality printing.
Oh... Hard rain falling is available at my library, so I made a reservation for it... and I shouldn't borrow books for a while, because of my already huge tbr... keep you responsible for this, lol 🤭
I started my Stephen King's Journey with Salem's Lot and The Body. They are awesome. I'm ready to read more! I Just got back into reading about three months ago.
That's nice. The Body was my favorite novella from him (Stand By Me has always been my favorite movie adaptation of King). And 'Salem's Lot had good aspects to it, though the book was a bit plodding at times ( and there's two short stories that go with it, a prequel called Jerusalem Lot and sequel called One For The Road). My personal fav's are Revival and Joyland. And I'm currently in the middle of Duma Key and Under the Dome.
I still need to get to Stoner but my partner absolutely loved it and I can't wait to get to it! Twisters was also a lot of fun, I thought it was American Godzilla Minus One
I feel like you would LOVE “The Elementals” by Michael McDowell. He was the screen writer for Beetlejuice and this book is the best southern gothic horror book I’ve read. I can’t stop thinking about it.
I think anyone who loves Grapes of Wrath (one of my favourite novels) should look into Sanora Babb. Her book Whose Names are Unkown was not published until 2004 despite having been written contemporaneously with Steinbeck's. It was thought that two novels dealing with the Dust Bowl farmers during the time of the Great Depression was not market friendly. Love your channel!
You make me want to read some Stephen king! I just picked up Billy summers cause I heard it was good so I’m interested to see how I like his writing. I don’t think that one is too much of a horror though so I’ll have to look into some of his others as well
Check out "Isaac's Storm" by Erik Larson if you are excited about weather right now! I picked it up because my name is Isaac but it has changed the way I think about the weather
Thanks for the video! Guns, Germs, and Steel is a must read. I have Circe on my list as well but haven't heard of Paris '44. Thanks for the recommendation.
Did you finish mayflies? The first half was struggle street but the second half was amazing. It stayed with me long after i finished it. PS your book recs are dope
Heyyyy love your videos! I needed to say that I just finished a book called PENPAL by Dathan Auerbach, it’s a short horror novel and I loved it! I really think you would enjoy it.
There’s been a movement to discredit Guns, Germs, and Steel because it focuses on environmental determinism, which some people don’t like. I think they’re wrong, so ignore people that complain about it.
Read a few books this weekend, Of Mice and Men was one of them. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it (I haven’t read any other Steinbecks) but turned out I loved it! And sobbed my heart out. But I also read High Fidelity that you recommended, I remember the movie with John Cusack and how American it was, not realising it was actually a British book. (I loved the movie) I really enjoyed the book though, a lot of British references which was great and nostalgic for me and I could totally see why they picked Cusack as the main guy, I still pictured him as I read as well. He just has that self deprecating, nervousness about everything he does which is perfect. Also, Jack Black was a perfect choice. There’s that one part where it says Barry has a devilish grin? Totally Jack Black visions lol Also, I’m one of those brits that can’t find Hard Rain Falling! I’m on the hunt though! 😊
Okay, so since you’re a parent, work full time and have multiple hobbies. When do y’all find time to read? I know most couples sit together and watch a show or movie, instead of that do y’all normally just together and just read or what?
@@rebeccasummerhill8010 it’s very good. The first bit can seem a bit slow but if you stick with it you will absolutely fly through last 3/4 of the book. It’s very good and it’s a nice switch up from books Stephen king usually writes.

Glad you’re enjoying Grapes of Wrath! Can’t wait for you to read East of Eden, it’s my favorite book of all time!

I recently read Circe and absolutely loved it

I’ve heard great things!

Books are Sick tee has been ordered 🤘
Ahhh thank you!!
Have you read Tommy Orange? Both of his books are great!
I think Lindsay and I would get along solely for the fact that I'm also obsessed with cats and hated A Little Life. 😂
I feel like you would LOVE “The Elementals” by Michael McDowell. He was the screen writer for Beetlejuice and this book is the best southern gothic horror book I’ve read. I can’t stop thinking about it.
The site isn’t working 😭😭

The original Greek pronunciation of Circe makes the C's into K sounds. Phonetically it would be "Keer-Key'. In English it's phonetically "Sir-see".
For a long time, I didn’t know how to pronounce it in English cause I’d only heard it in Greek. Then the Madeline Miller book came out lol.
Nice update again 🎉

Circe was one of my favorite books last year! Hope you enjoy it!
i have hard rain on audible here in canada
Check out "Isaac's Storm" by Erik Larson if you are excited about weather right now! I picked it up because my name is Isaac but it has changed the way I think about the weather
You can get it from a library
Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors.
Do you have a favourite genre? And do you struggle to stay interested in a book outside of that genre?

Omg i absolutely adored Hard Rain Falling. It's up there w Stoner, IT, and a few others. It's just absolutely everything I love in a book.

Books books books
I like how your wife gave you a chonky book to read 😂😂😂
You should strip the audio from these videos and upload them as podcasts as well. I would love to be able to listen when I can’t watch!
I always prefer original movies instead of all the remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels etc ...
Circe was a DNF for me.

BRO. BOOKS ARE FRIGGEN SICK.
Still committing crimes and not reading Vonnegut, I see.
Vonne-who?
@@booksaresick I heard reading Vonnegut ensures Josh Allen to pass for +5k this season.
@beardedjohnson5654 it's his channel, he'll talk about whatever random nonsense he pleases. And @booksaresick - I'm gonna assume you're being cute.
@@beardedjohnson5654well in that case I’m ordering every copy of every book available

Week 28 of asking you to read Billy Summers by Stephen king
One of my top 3 King , along with Pet Semetary and 11/22/63 ❤
Just picked this up the other day. I’ve never read one of his books so I’m hoping it’s good!
