Ok but at 0:39 the scene of the humans holding that chokepoint has gotta be the most RTS-ish vibes I have ever gotten in a long time.. mostly reminds of Dawn of War where I just completely bunker down mowing orks in those missions.. Makes a son of Dorn proud
Funny you mention Dorn and DOW in the same sentence, in unification mod they got the Imperial Fists in it and that very scene is 90% how to play that faction, walls in choke points whilst having Whirlwind Scorpius (IF has a lot of Pre Heresy tanks in their disposal) hammering away at anything coming close.
I love how much care goes into the choice of characters for each little segment - especially with the Covenant. Here, they send out a Brute team first to take the first casualties. Then the Elites move up with the Wraiths, which you'd think would be their main battle force. But no - Jackals, Skirmishers and (somehow) Hunters come up over the ridge to flank the humans from the side. Then, with the enemy artillery disabled/distracted, they send in a larger wave of Brutes to just smash their way through the remaining marines holding the line. Very cunning, and very in-line with the lore. I also love how we're getting a different Spartan's POV, too. We spent a lotta time with the Commander and the ODST (may she rest in peace) in the beginning, but now we're gonna spend some with this Sniper. Great story/plot/character work.
What I like about Halo Covenant is each species has specific purpose unlike other alien when you have giant ufo and single species. Here every species build each task for example Elite is for command entire fleet and ground troop,jackal for reconnaissance and sniper,Grunt for canon fodder,Brute for massive ground troop, Drone for combat engineer and airborne and floating cute alien for engineer.Imagine if human encounter Real Covenant,we screw

I know it’s not much (I’m military so they pay us peanuts), but your content has re-invigorated my love for Halo. I’ve followed and played the game since I was 11 (I’m 31 now). 343 and Paramount turned a great game into a travesty. But you brought back the feeling that made this game great: fighting and winning against a superior foe even in the midst of many losses. You GET us. You know what makes Halo great. That Hunter Flank was so fragging devastating, for a moment there I thought the UNSC would have no problem containing the threat within the canyon because of bottleneck but then "Oops, Hunters on the High Ground." They were totally exposed up there, but the surprise of their arrival ambushed even that Spartan, which they were smart to take out before the tanks, they took out the very Overwatch that could have warned the tanks of the danger and possibly taken them out as well. And the fact that they followed that up by taking out 2 out of the 3 tanks was also so devastating, luckily the second tank provided the third with much needed cover so it was harder to hit but could fire back on them with impunity. Hope it reels around in time to face off with the incoming threat now charging right at it. Sodaz, you're work is phenomenal, I'm loving every moment and I have yet to see anyone who can even compete with you on any level. Thank you for existing, if I had money to spare and you had a Subscribe Star, I'd be throwing money at you like tomorrow didn't exist.

The thing I love about these videos is that it shows that Humanity is on the backfoot constantly in fights on the ground- but we make the Covenant pay for every single inch they gain.
i love the tactics the Covies are using in this. a hunter out in the open? big deal, get behind him. a hunter surrounded by skirmishers? a much bigger threat. a hunter on a cliff surrounded by skirmishers? while a frontal attack is going on? that's a damn tricky situation to be in
Covenant, at the time, the prophets only saw humans as Heresy cause of all the Forerunner shenanigans. But the Banished on the other hand, accepts "anybody". It's still alien species, but as long as you're strong, the Banished would let you join
Honestly, Sodaz is keeping the Halo community live by giving the fans what they want that 343 hasn’t. Halo infinite was such a let down… but this is the Halo we all know & love. If 343 is watching , they really should take notes as to what the fans want, how Sodaz does these shorts & how amazing these end up. Keep up the good work, you’re doing an amazing job. Holy shit that was good, aside from the textures, I could totally see this being a masterpiece with the camera angles, music ques and beats. The back and forth between both sides was great to watch. Looking forward to seeing more.
Ever time a new one comes out I'm losing it. We're on #17 of these 90 second clips and I've already grow attached to the spartans. I was genuinely sad for a minute when I thought our friend bit it, and now stuff's looking pretty dire and I have a real sense of dread. Well done creating an actual emotional response from somebody who is very picky about that kind of thing!!
SODAZ…the last Halo I actually played with friends was Reach. I’ve been a fan since Halo 1 came out, and unfortunately, I haven’t been able to play since the year Reach came out. Adult life responsibilities call I guess. Countless hours have been put into Halo 3 and Reach and I have to say, those games make me feel at home. Endless memories with those games have me longing for times past…but your videos give me solace knowing that I can still achieve those same emotions and awe from way back when. Thank you. I can go on and on, but I just want to end with saying that I truly hope you know how much of a service you’re doing for us old timer fans. I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said because there are only so many ways to say it's fucking awesome but I'll give it a shot I guess. I loved the push and pull of the battle, both sides got to shine and it's unclear where things are headed. And the detail! (chefs kiss) So many weapons and troop choices and actually using terrain. Love it.
Everything works so well, lore accuracy is 110% the rapid result of how the battle escalates fits so well with how far humanity tried to endure to no little avail. The outpost will fall, but they will give them hell before it does
According to the early books, yeah. It was flat out stated that the UNSC won most of the ground battles in the war up until that point though the losses were quite heavy. However, it was also said that these victories were bittersweet due to the UNSC Navy just being unable to really defeat the covenant unless they massively outnumbered them. Victories on the ground don't mean much when the planet starts getting glassed.
These make me feel a sense of joy I haven't felt in years. They bring me back to all those years of playing Halo 2, 3, and Reach with my brothers. You're a legend man, keep up the great work.

This makes me want to walk into a Paramount board room with these all put together in a file and force the writers to watch it while going "this! this is we wanted! why is it so hard to understand that?"
Everything looks absolutely perfect. Only criticism I have with the plasma impacts of each laser or plasma projectile from the covenant tanks is that it looks like a regular explosion. Where it would more look like it would burn away the armor of the soldiers or vehicles, flesh and ground around it. Leaving a colored mark with a crater instead of an ashy terrain. Would give more detail work on the soldiers, vehicles and ground terrain being hit, but would be more accurate to the damage they do and the protrayal of it. Everything else... just absolutely phenominal! Keep it up Sodaz.
This is as close as it gets to depicting the battle in the Fall of reach book. Just like the C4 representing the buried Lotus mines, the choke hold, then the tanks being taken out by Wraiths (but hunters here) high up on the ledges.

Whn the Skirmishers showed up it reminded me of a part of the Rubicon protocol book when a group of survivors are attacked during the night, it makes it show horrifying like being ambush by raptors with guns
There was a Halo 2 show that came out when I was l really little an older family friend showed it too me it was called the Codex. Way before RvB, it blew my little mind and I've been in love with Halo ever since. This brings me those same feelings. And I can't express how much that means. Thank you !!!

I’m pretty sure the UNSC has an upper hand when coming to ground battles. Looks really good. I’d watch this over the TV series anyday.

HBO needed to give SODAZ the entire HALO TV series pay, this guy knows how to make a story. This was what we needed.
