"I always read the manual..." Respect, man. It's not really necessary to operate the gun maybe, sure, but as a guy reviewing the gun, I like that you actually do this.
Been wondering all about this gun ever since I held it at SHOT in January. The Turk's are making some really high quality firearms I'll tell you that. I really want to get my hands on one of these and try it out.
I do not think Canik is making any money with 300 dollar price tag now from the guns sold in the US. It is priced 3-4 times higher in Turkey. To those hating the gun because of the makers' religion/politics I would like to point to Soviet/Sattelite guns like ak 47, cz, Zastava, Tokarev etc. by buying those guns are you supporting Lenin/Stalin? It seems to me that a very competitive piece/brand is trying to get market share and the vested interests are not liking it. If the piece proves its value in the medium to long term the haters too will own one.
Guns in general in the EU and Turkey cost 2x to 3x than the US. They definitely started out cheaper then they sell them now in the US but that's expected when you're trying to break into the market.
for me, I love this pistol. that said i had to change the sights. it took fluorescent pink nail polish and removed the white paint from the rear sight to my groups from 8in to 2.5in, at 7 yards rapid fire. i have put all kinds of ammo through mine, s&b, magtech, federal target, winchester white box, and pmc, 100 rounds or more of each without a single failure. according to the web site it has a ceracote finish and a hammer forged barrel. took about 20 minutes to paint the sight and let dry. IMO you will have to change/modify the sights the pistol takes p99/ppq factory/aftermarket sights. hope this helps
Desert Tan, 5 years, over2000 rounds. Still luvinit. Tan coating is chipping off at corners, yet still works. Only problem I ever had was with light charged reloads. Up the charge problem solved. Did replace sights with Truglo tritium NS (for P99).
It's a good pistol. Also, it's respectable that you get to know the guns you sell so that you really know what you are selling to people. It's good to be honest too.
I have one of these. Great pistol especially for the cost. It comes in OD green, tan, two tone black frame and silver slide, black, and platinum. Platinum sure is an oddball color. I like that it came with a good holster right out of the box. The trigger takes some getting used too, but is a good trigger once you do. It is similar to the Walther anti-stress trigger, but not the same. It breaks far back, but no over-travel. Not really the same as any other trigger on the market that I have tried. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality full sized pistol especially if they are looking at a Glock or a Sig but can not afford them.
Yes, I like my TP9. It's for home protection. Your review helped me in having the confidence of this hand gun. I hope I never have to use it in that capacity. But, your review and my time at the range proved to me that it's reliable. And that is the crucial factor in any self defense weapon. There's nothing worst than having to find yourself in a situation where you may have to defend yourself, or loved ones. And having a malfunction. I don't know about anyone else. But, it would be a nightmare to hear a "click", instead of a bang when you need it. Just my thoughts on the importance of readability in any self defense weapon. It's like having a fire extinguisher. You hope you never have to use it. But, it's there if you need it.
Thinking the same thing.... I just bought the Ruger SR9e 17 +1.. $325 bucks... have not shot it yet... the CANIK looks like another one of those must haves....
It comes with a holster with 2 different mounting options, so it is ready to rock right out of the box. Nothing else needed. Plus it is rather inexpensive for a good quality pistol. ISO 9000 quality control.
I have one in Desert Tan - love it!! 350 rounds thru mine and only one tiny issue ( had to download the mag 1 with one brand of ammunition). Other than that...perfect! Not mentioned in the video, the rear sight is adjustable and mine came with two additional front sights and the tool to change them!! The trigger breaking far back did not bother me at all... the SA is great. the DA pretty stiff...mine is very accurate! All for under $350 - and that was after shipping and transfer fees!!!!
Jesse Sisolack I just got a FN-S (9mm) for $399, there was shipping and being insured ($30), then my FFL only charges for the background check, $10). Out the door, cost me $440.00. And FN is an ISO-9001 company too. And the barrel is Cold Hammer Forged...Stainless steel slide, which is much better than Carbon-Steel. FNS/X is a seriously over looked gun and not recognized...when it competes with Glock, S&W, Springfield. Personally, I think FN makes a better gun....at least using better materials than Glock. If this gun interest you or anyone else. Go to www.deguns.net, their a big gun shop out in Omaha, NE.
Rick S I own a FNS 40 and a Canik Shark, I'm tell you the Canik Shark is now one of my fav guns to shoot. The slide in frame gives great target pick-up on second shot.
Eric- I find your "work" on UA-cam to be of the highest integrity on top of being very knowledgable. Thank you, and keep up the great work you do. Oh, and on the Canik, for me personally, I would never buy anything from Turkey. They can pound sand. Ymmv
I've had mine about 3 months now (actually bought 2) and LOVE it. I've been carrying this IWB since I got it, I'm 6'7" and about 290lbs, so I can hide it better than some. Not the most comfortable to carry, but it is possible. The only problem I had with it was the rear sights. I put it in my glove box when I got to work and when I got home that night I noticed that the rear sights were moved.... alot! So I put it back together and have not had another issue. Well worth the money!
The selling point for me was the price features and reviews. The reason it's a keeper for life is it's quality feel and accuracy. 3000+ rounds with ZERO issues.
I have to say I really enjoy your reviews on the guns that you do and when I'm buying a new gun I ussaly watch and listen to your post they've been most helpful when I make my purchases so just wanted to say thanks for the posts on you tube
Thanks for this review, I really enjoy your reviews. I did buy one a few months back, paying $296 + FFL cost. For what you get in addition to the pistol you cannot beat the cost for a full size pistol. They do seem to print low, even though they do come with three different front sights, the shortest front sight still prints low even at 7 yards. Also as mentioned in the review, it is not the most accurate pistol you can buy but the short reset and high capacity mags will make up for this in a defensive situation.
First all thank you for your service... Second thanks for all the videos...I have learned so much from them... I am a long time viewer, and long time gun owner.. I just bought the Ruger SR9e 17 +1.. $325 bucks... have not shot it yet... the CANIK looks like another one of those must haves....Buddy, Pontiac, Michigan
Good review. I've seen nothing but positive reviews on this pistol. The odd thing is that we have 8 local gun stores (including the big box chains with handguns), and gun shows come to town every few months. I've never seen this handgun on the shelf.
I bought one 4 months ago, the price has gone up. I payed 400 out the door. Great gun, great price, I carry it all the time. Great accuracy, well balanced, great follow up shots. For the price, you can not go wrong with this gun at all.
Primus1985 Unfortunatly no....Commiefornia has a Ca. APPROVED handgun list and if it isnt on there you cant get it.....even if it is a 5 shot revolver.....ONE of the most rediculious laws we have in this hell hole....cant wait to move!
blunted one Jesus...thats just...damn. Thats some freakin neo-fascist sh- right there. Stuff like that is why I dont say im a liberal. Im no right-wing, fox news watching, neo-con, but making a list of guns that you can own screams fascism. Whats more it makes no sense. Dont they realize Nevada is right next door and you can get basically anything super easily? If someone wanted to say go on some kind of rampage, they could easily go to Nevada to get the weapons and come back. Louisiana is the same if not more lax than Nevada, which is why im glad I live only an hour or two from the border.
Just bought the gun today. it comes with two extra sights so you can change it to small . medium or high to get the better sighting. Great deal for $349. It was the last one at Cabelas as it is being discontinued. Heard the newer version, the TP9SA is not a good design since it has no safety as ell but is only a single action trigger which is being called a unsafe design by some reviewers. This version seems better with the double action trigger.
got one of these from Moss, after about 50 rds it began to stove pipe every round. got it home and the feed ramp was filthy!! hope this was the problem, if not ill be seeing you at the shop......Lol. Great review as always!!!
Great review. I own 2 of these pistols. I have watched a lot of videos of the TP 9. Hickock45 is the only person who gave it a bad review. I carry it in the small of the back in a Kydex holster I made. Century Arms has magazines for $26.
Hummmmm, been looking at reviews of this gun for a few months, all reviews are good. May have to add it to my "TO GET" list. And thank you for changing the focus on the camera. Nice to see the hits on the targets clearly!
This is the 3rd review of this gun I watched, the first 2 by nutnfancy and sootch00 were already amazing, this one basically confirms them ... I really like this gun and it´s a heck of a bargain with all the stuff that comes with it, sadly it´s not available here in Germany and I have already reached my gun limit -.-
I own this gun and if you have any question as the whether or not you should get it, get it. The accuracy is amazing even though the trigger is heavy. It is light weight and quality certifications really give it an edge.
Glad to see some serious reviews of this gun being pumped out finally. I have been looking at it for a pretty long time now but just really have no need for it. as for it shooting low the gun should have came with 3 front sights and from my understanding it seems to shot best with the low sight.
I have one and I love it. It's reliable and it is NOT ammo fussy. The holster is perhaps the best holster I own. I gave $300 for it brand new, An exceptional value.

hi, I thought they also included extra front sights like Walther does with it,s P-99. If thats the case perhaps changing one out for another might alleviate it,s printing low.
I love this gun it feels really good in hand it gives me the feeling I'm shooting a 1911 the trigger the way it holds all of it gives me the feeling of a 1911
looks like a top quality weapon,, the turks have been making weapons for a couple of hundred years, mausers etc,, so must be good,, looks great in olive green,,, top video
I've had my TP-9 for about a year now and it's been stellar! I like it a lot and I own some much more expensive arms. Just because it costs less doesn't mean it's cheaply made. Unfortunately, Canik55 may have made some changes to the design to make it more Glock-like. You can see the new one on the Canik55 Website. Seems like once I find something I like, they go and change it to something I don't much care for. Buy one while you can get this style!
It's good for the price. It does seem to shoot low, may need to replace the front sight. The trigger is actually nice once you get used to it. I would recommend the pachmayr 05163 grip accessory for it.

You're forgetting the exchange rate...
$350 U.S dollars = 1336 Turkish Lira
And well said xD
Makers of zastava were yugoslavia they were not part of stalins bullshit and hated him but it doesnt change the fact that they were socialists
Well said

I bought the SCCY for a cc gun and love it. They are also a great American gun company to deal with
Great vid, and it certainly seems like a great gun. 👍
Hey my first UA-cam coment. Sweden loves you.

Nice job ! Keep up the good work!
Great review! Putting a lot of lead downrange is the best form of honesty.
I have one and like it a lot. Good gun. Great value.
love my tp9 accurate and eats anything u give it

Solid informative review as usual. Thanks.

Another great video. Thanks for taking time to spread knowledge and info. Keep up the good work!
Slick editing and camera work.
Beautiful copy of the Walther P99
I have always loved the European style mag release on the trigger guard.
Great video as usual. Keep making them and I'll keep watching
Heard about this gun like month back was interested in getting one but of course they aren't available in California!
cant you just buy a ten round mag to put in it?
Primus1985 Unfortunatly no....Commiefornia has a Ca. APPROVED handgun list and if it isnt on there you cant get it.....even if it is a 5 shot revolver.....ONE of the most rediculious laws we have in this hell hole....cant wait to move!
It's not "safe" enough lol. They should have a firearms test and if you don't pass it you don't get to pass bs gun laws

And Eric's beard is starting to look great.
Can you do a review for the Zigana Turkish pistols?
Great shooting review.
Thank you for another objective review. It's sometimes hard to decide if people are entirely honest. Keep doin' what you're doin'.
Can you do a review on the Canik Shark and or Stingray thanks.
Good video man. Keep 'em coming
In 2014 its a "Value" ,... in 2018 ,..Its a legit contender now.
got one of these from Moss, after about 50 rds it began to stove pipe every round. got it home and the feed ramp was filthy!! hope this was the problem, if not ill be seeing you at the shop......Lol. Great review as always!!!
I had a S&W 40VE about 20 years ago that used to rap off 3 round bursts every now and then. That was always....interesting

Pretty good for a inexpensive gun. Enjoyed your review.
Buddy of mine picked one up the other week. Shoots nice, great gun for the money.
Hummmmm, been looking at reviews of this gun for a few months, all reviews are good. May have to add it to my "TO GET" list. And thank you for changing the focus on the camera. Nice to see the hits on the targets clearly!

At 6:15 just to the left of the soda bottles under the first round steel target... why do I see what I see?
+Lion Silver I see it too ...looks like a naked guy cut in half! lol
+rbrittne a quick look over other comments and nothing... and I think we may be the only ones who see it lmao...
I own this gun and if you have any question as the whether or not you should get it, get it. The accuracy is amazing even though the trigger is heavy. It is light weight and quality certifications really give it an edge.
Great looking Gun , Good Video !
Eric, great review, serious approach humble spirit!
He's always been a great host. I like how humble he is as well.
Excellent shooting, sir!
Nice to see good, inexpensive pistol.
They certainly give you a lot of goodies with the gun.
Beautiful piece!.
AWESOME…I really enjoyed watching !
Glad to see some serious reviews of this gun being pumped out finally. I have been looking at it for a pretty long time now but just really have no need for it. as for it shooting low the gun should have came with 3 front sights and from my understanding it seems to shot best with the low sight.
Damn how do they make any money with a deal like that :)...awesome review guys
Diggin the od green!
For the money these are not bad guns
And you told us not to be rough with the slide hahaha :) great video
I have one and I love it. It's reliable and it is NOT ammo fussy. The holster is perhaps the best holster I own. I gave $300 for it brand new, An exceptional value.
Waiting to get mine !!!
Great review brother have one myself and shot the best 21 ft 13 out of 17...love the heavy quality mags too. Semper Fi
Test out the TP9 V2 it's a great firearm.
And also, thank you for your service.
Aloha Eric.
You read my mind, ATV/UTV gun, drag it with you in all those muddy/dirty places that you might want a gun with you, but would not dare bring most of what is in your gunsafe. I also think it would be great for outfitting any kind of cache locations without breaking the bank. I see this either replacing or supplementing the NAA .22LR/.22Magnum revolvers with folding grip/cover that I currently try to use for affordable firepower locked away on various vehicles/locations.....this TP9 is not much more in price and really delivers a ton of value.
Peace & Prepare

Damn, that's a nice looking gun.
Mine's going in for service today. I like the way it shoots, but with it decocked, the primer strikes were too light. It looks like Century is going to take care of me, though. They made it pretty easy to send it in. I think that I'll ultimately be happy with it.
hi, I thought they also included extra front sights like Walther does with it,s P-99. If thats the case perhaps changing one out for another might alleviate it,s printing low.
I love this gun it feels really good in hand it gives me the feeling I'm shooting a 1911 the trigger the way it holds all of it gives me the feeling of a 1911
Been looking for a first carry gun and looked at this gun today. Damn it feels nice. Think I’m gonna go with it!
I have one of the OD green ones and of note the mags are half the price of the Walther mags and they fit my PPQ M2 and run like a champ there.
Mine shot low out of the box. I installed a shorter front sight that came with it and put on the larger back strap. It now shoots to point of aim.
looks like a top quality weapon,, the turks have been making weapons for a couple of hundred years, mausers etc,, so must be good,, looks great in olive green,,, top video
MADE IN TURKEY!!!!!!! YEA
Man now I want one in od.
looks like a sweet gun
C'mon youtube, PROCESSS FULL HD.
Totally want one.
I want a tan one . You have one ?
At 7:30, it looks kind of like a striker fired HK USP.
wow!! nice shooting.
Great video!
too awesome, nice gun
I really want one of these.
What is that clicking sound I hear?
Very interesting pistol. Like the reviewer said I can see this being a could "house" or home defense pistol.
It's good for the price. It does seem to shoot low, may need to replace the front sight. The trigger is actually nice once you get used to it. I would recommend the pachmayr 05163 grip accessory for it.
Any idea when or where the Canik55 TP40 will be available???
I hate the fact that people say "its great for the money", no, it is great... period.
it looks nice
Great vid.
Hickok45 makes it look so easy.... :)
Nice shooting btw...
cool piece
I have a TP9. I also have a Walther P99c so I am used to the AS trigger. I love the AS trigger. The trigger on my TP9 absolutely sucks and only resembles the Walter trigger in a very shallow way. I don't mind a heavy trigger. What I do mind is the suck way you have to pull the trigger on the TP9 all the way back to the frame of the gun and then squeeze hard just to get it to fire. My trigger may not be representative to all TP9's as I don't hear any of the video reviewers commenting on how hard it is to pull the trigger on this stinking gun.
Hickok45 complained about that.
ScrewYouTwice I would be willing to bet that the... "trigger may (well be) representative to all TP9's"!
