I’ve watched you for years and years and I’m so happy you’ve gotten into reading. You should start listening to books when you walk and workout. Some books are better when you listen to them, Daisy Jones and the Six was a good listen. I feel like I’ve been your neighbor and I’ve watched you grow so much. You’re a great guy Joel. 📚
My favorite new phrase, "a book to dip in and out of." I find a lot of my non fiction I have underlined things and go back to "dip in" and read what I underlined. I loved seeing you go through this process! The power of the pen, is definitely NOT dead! Always ❤
I LOVED The Fine Print but mostly because the series is a focus on 3 different love stories with billionaire brothers (each brother has a book), who takeover the family business which is pretty much basically Disney. That first vlog is around the theme park. It’s pretty cheese but that’s why I love it 😅 (not sure you will though!)
📕📙📒📗📘 Loved this!! I would absolutely watch any and all book reviews u choose to do on these (or others) as well. You and I seem to have the same taste in books, Joel, so I'm loving all the bookish content. 😍🤩
📚 I am reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow with my book club now. I hope we both enjoy it. Love listening to you talk about books. Have a great week!!!
📘📚I LOVE knowing what's on someone else's bookshelf. I feel like this was just about Joel showing off his books than any kind of actual productive sort through and I'm here for it. 👏
Thank you so much for sharing your book collection with us!! I’ve loved books my whole life and now I may have to give Powerless a try! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
📚 I always watch to the end of your videos, I have been for years. i’m so excited that you are addicted to fantasy books as me.😃 I can’t wait to hear your reviews on these books and our have to add some of these books to my TBR.📚
You like books like I do. I thought it was so cute that Ava was trying anything to get your attention with that ball. Ava is such an adorable dog. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I enjoyed this video. 😊❤
Oh, the stacks of books--I understand completely--73 "to read" stacked up next to the bed. I need to follow your lead--no purchases until I've finished 10--great plan!
Really enjoyed this video. Will look into some of the recommendations that you make, although I am also on the second to last novel in the Throne of Glass series. Like the idea of going through the TBR pile and setting them in order and sorting out the already read (which invariably gets mixed in at some point). Have a great week Joel and hopefully I’ll see you on Thursday in the next vlog.
Read read read The Discovery of Witches!!!! There’s 5 books… Times Convert is kind of like a spin-off it’s mainly about a character from the previous book and the newest book The Black Bird Oracle just came out
📚I watched the entire thing 3 times (so I put 3 books😂) I really enjoy watching your videos of book reviews, I have paused them, so often, and gone onto Amazon to order the books that you are showing!! I too am a “Book COLLECTOR”😆🤣I always have the very best intention of READING all of them, but I don’t accomplish that goal…. There is something about HAVING books that makes me feel “rich” in a way.😆📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚 So, THANK YOU for sharing your books with us, it’s quite special and I have taken a lot of your recommendations for myself and as gifts for others.❤
Really fun to hear your reviews, the likes and you've read better, lol. That is a lot to read with all you have going on, but I believe you can do it. Poor Ava, patiently waiting and hoping you would get her favorite ball from under the bed, lol, such a good girl. Thanks for the recommendations Joel, hope you have a pleasant Sunday.📚❤️👍
all souls trilogy is a must read....although i lean on audible because its historical fiction and some of the jargain makes me stumble...its fantasticly narrated though...vamps, witches, deamons, time jumping wrapped in a nice bow written by an ivy league professor...i love them! 📖
Joel, I love all of your videos, especially those with your man, and I also love it a lot when you talk about books. I'm an avid reader of Gothic fiction, so I was very intrigued when you talked about The Silence Factory in your old video back in May (I believe). You weren't certain about how to classify it, but I knew that it was Gothic because of the way that you described the plot, and I felt very drawn to it. After looking it up on Goodreads, I learnt that it is, indeed, a modern Gothic, so I immediately pre-ordered my copy, but we aren't going to receive it here in Canada until the end of this month; I am really excited to read it after waiting for all of those months. I'm aware that this genre and way of life is very out of your league, but it's nice that you influenced me to read The Silence Factory. I think that our version will have the woman on the cover, and the man on the back, though. (And, yes, Gothic reading isn't easy. The Castle of Wolfenbach, The Monk, Mexican Gothic, Child of God, and The Woman in Black are some of my favourites.) God and the Gay Christian sounds very interesting, and I think that I should read it. I'm Anglican (although I come from a Spiritualist background), and my church is very close to our LGBT+ community; one of my lesbian churchmates got married at our church. When the Moon Hatched sounds interesting, even though I don't read much fantasy any more. I had the same problem in the past about starting a book but not finishing it. Thankfully, that changed over the years. Sometimes I set goals for myself. For example, three to ten pages a day, and that helps me finish the books even if they take me a few months to read. (I simultaneously read a few titles together.) Thank you for sharing your collection! I watched this video around three times now, and this includes whilst I was organising my drawer. Cheers! Xoxoxo 📔📖📔
👋 Ava🐾 Fantasy is not my favorite genre, but I am so happy to see someone so enthusiastic about reading. I feel the same way about mystery, history, art, and design. 📖
📚 I’ve read all the Powerless books. The novella is a quick read but heartbreaking (IYKYK) and the Reckless cliffhanger had me in shock yelling WTF!!! The last book is going to be interesting. The Discovery of Witches trilogy is great and I think Keegan would like them as well. It’s academic and contemporary but with fantasy, witches, vampires, and dives into European history pulling in real historical figures. I don’t want to give much away but it will mention places in England you are familiar with. I listened to the audiobooks and the narrator did a fantastic job. I listened to them 3x
📖Suggestion: Review each of your top 12 books in a vlog after reading each one. That might help motivate you to read them since it will be part of preparing content for your channel. I think your subscribers will be interested in your thoughts on each book. Ava was so cute near the end of the video when she pawed at some books next to you as if to say "I'm putting my foot down, Joel. That's enough book talk. Now it's time for you to pay attention to me." 🐶🥰
Wow, Joel, that's a haul for sure. I fist the same thing, banned myself buying more still I've finished the ones I've got, or at least a chunk of them. Idk if you're like me, but I find that when I'm in this kinda situation, I get motivated by the books I'm excited about the most being my "reward" for getting thru the ones that I've got to get thru but are not top on the list. Eg, I might use the few non fic ones you've got pages left in alternating with the top ones on your fantasy list. That way you'll also get thru ten faster since those are not full books but need to be done. And I've got several of those at the moment and two fantasy that I'm eager to get to. That might not help you tho... Anyway, thanks for sharing your shelves and reviews, you sold me on some of those, later tho, cuz my ban 😅isn't over yet.
Ever thought of getting a kindle! Nobody will know how many you have and you can take your library with you! Saves so much space and you save loads of money too as they are cheaper!
I somehow missed the book emoji thing and I just watch the other video where you mentioned it. But I watched the whole video and was so preoccupied with writing down book names of books that sounded interesting, so that’s probably why I missed that part😅 📚
📚📖 Book lover greetings to you Joel. I own a book store" Within the Pages" and l recognize a lot of those books. 🎉 Watched you since 2019.🤠 Cajun howdy from coastal Mississippi 🧔🐻😎👋
I wish I read more but my attention span is not that good anymore. I still enjoyed your video and Ava hanging with you. You have a soothing voice. Easy on the ears. Happy reading.😋
📚 I'm so bad at reading as I'm such a slow reader. I tried to read more books this year but it's not gone great. I have so many books at home but the last few months I've started to kick start again. The problem I often have, is that reading really relaxes me....but too much as I literally fall asleep to any book after a few chapters. I've been adding my reviews to my good reads account which does help me and motivate me to read more. I did a book haul video a few years ago on my YT channel but never finished reading them all.
Get a cheap bookcase at TK*Maxx or a charity shop or somesuch place, and stick it in any bare spot--as a stand-in until the future library is actualized. Being able to see the books will be ample motivation to read whenever you can catch a moment. The Holly Black series is good, but if you want to double-down on your fantasy-nerd-cred, get into Patrick Rothfuss, after the ban ends. Love a book-centered video! 📚
You don’t need more books! But someday try “The Library Book” by Susan Orleans. Fascinating history of the LA library and the culture of libraries in general.
Love bookish content from you, Joel!! Do you or have you thought about tracking the books you've read? Personally, I like to use Storygraph for the analytics.
📕 Of course I am watching!! 😅 I’m on a book ban too. I need to send you a book on Arts and Crafts-era architecture that I have. It’s a coffee table book and will give you some great ideas for refurbing your next house.
I think that with a lot of books and how they seem to "stack up and reproduce" around the house. My workaround is to buy books that are a "one read", is to purchase them digitally and read them on a device. There are books certainly well worth owning in the physical form but for books that become dated, as do a lot of non fiction books that I read there is no reason to buy a hardcover or paperback. At least in digital form, one can go back and reread as necessary. For me my little book problem is a growing collection of "art" books that cover, art, architecture, history and the like. Save a tree and read digitally when one can.
📗📘📙 Joel, I think that picture of you at 27:15 in your video should be your new screen shot on your phone, just in case you pass by a bookstore! Happy reading! 📙📘📗
You’ve inspired me to try the inheritance games! I enjoyed Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow but felt it was a bit overhyped (maybe how you felt about fourth wing?).

Agreed, some are better on audio. Some need better narrators,, and if they paid better, I'd say Joel would be a great reader for those.
I'm reading Court of Silver Flames thanks for the recommendation great series. 📖

Watching from Ireland ❤
I liked The Fine Print. I’ve read all but the last book. The last is on my tbr. 📚
Always watching📕
Of course you can finish all those books!
After all, who needs to eat and sleep anyways?😂

Book that burned the road is good ❤
Interesting books. Not bad. Good choice. PS. Have a great day❤
Thank you 😁
I’m halfway through Judi Dench’s Shakespeare book and I’m enjoying it immensely

The Book Thief is really good and will fly by. It’s almost poetic. The narrator is Death. You can definitely conquer that in a few days. Enjoy!!
📕 my go to solution when I run out of room for books is to buy more bookshelves. Lol.
Good luck with the journey. I think you CAN do it, but not sure you will. 📖
For literary fiction, try Alan Hollinghurst. One of the leading UK gay authors. Patrick Gale too.
You’ve inspired me to try the inheritance games! I enjoyed Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow but felt it was a bit overhyped (maybe how you felt about fourth wing?).
📖 TBH, I got distracted so only listened, but I let the video run for ya! And yes, you can read them if you get cracking.
