It was best overall in some ways. MVC1 amped it up and MVC2 was the start of things going bonkers. Then, UMVC3 just went ape shit..that damn Vergil lol
Still my favorite VS game of all time. Seeing this game in the arcade for the first time in 1996 as a 10 year old was mind blowing man. The fact that it was tag team, had crazy over the top super moves and air combos, and let you play as Street Fighter characters against the X Men was just crazy to me.
Imagine if Capcom announced a 4K HD Collection of: Marvel Super Heroes Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter Marvel Vs Capcom Marvel Vs Capcom 2 X Men: Children Of The Atom X Men Vs Street Fighter No one would ever leave the house again.
This one will conclude with MvC2, since that's the point of the hashtag. UMvC3 is readily available on Steam, so it's not "stuck" like the second game.
2 cool things with rouge. If you kiss zangief you can do his spinning pile driver. It's funny to do that and then spinning pile drive juggernaut as rouge. The second cool thing is if you kiss akuma and build up your super meter you can do akumas demon rage.
Man, that hand shake between Ryu and Cyclops is a fucking powerful image. Always loved X-Men vs Street Fighter, the music was probably the best in the VS series, a high bar to clear all things to consider.
Brings back so many memories. The one game I played for my birthday on 1996 and was so good with Magneto and Cyclops. I only wish these games were digital on PSN or Xbox live.
Good memories of playing this at Walmart. One of the only arcade games I ever beat and I believe the only arcade fighting game among them. With a team of Ken and Wolverine.
He was quite low tier. He is not as fast as wolverine nor have his cheap combos and he doesn't have projectiles. At least Cammy has super fast speed plus her attacks knock her opponents away to compensate for her weak attack.
One of the games I happened to try on both the Saturn and the PS1 and I was amazed how amazing the Saturn version was compared to PS1 (with the Ram expansion of course). Like PS1 had worse visuals, constant loading and you couldn't freely switch between the two characters, while Saturn was basically arcade perfect and surprising no loading almost anywhere.
This was my favorite Capcom game for a very long time, it wasn't until more recently that I started to favor Marvel vs Capcom 1 over it because of it's added mechanics that make the game slightly more interesting and complicated, the roster in XmvSF is nothing short of legendary.
Was not an arcade but it was a Fish and Chip takeout. Was only a 2 minute walk from my home growing up. Had this COTA and SF2 and SF2 Rainbow. Used to spend a lot of time down there haha
I still remember the days of playing this at my favorite arcade/pizza parlor. Eventually my brother asked me to buy this game for Sega Saturn , we had to order it from an import specialty website, not available on amazon in those days.We both still treasure this game to this day.
I remember seeing this game at an arcade by the beach when I was a kid. Blew my mind seeing the characyers do cool stuff. Some time later it became the first ps1 game I ever bought. I didn't even own the console, just played it on my uncle's. Not a great port, but still lots of fun!
Rogue might be the most interesting character to work with in a fighting game with her gimmick of stealing moves, sadly by MvsC2 they didn't care so they gave her some power up moves that most of the time are kind of meh, it would be interesting if they bring her back and make her also able to steal a Super Move, like Ryu's Shinku Hadouken or Hulk's Gamma Crush.
Its not that they didnt care. If anything they did care, they gave character specific powerups considering the roster size, i would say yes they did care
That's the one thing I always wanted from a Rogue moveset, was to also have her do a super move as well. I was such a Rogue fanboy, I remember thinking up what moves she'd steal from the rest of the MvC2 cast, lol!
Hey max I doubt that you’ll even see this but you’ve quickly become one of my favorite content creators. Seeing your excitement for FF7 has created a nostalgia for me for a game that wasn’t even in my childhood. You single handedly influenced my purchase of the game and I’m loving every second of it. Keep up the great work good sir. Godspeed
This was my 2nd favorite versus game right behind MVC 2 and I remember buying a gameshark adapter just to play as Apocalypse. Damn I miss the late 90s.
I remember on a school trip to San Francisco in like middle school we went to an old arcade. I had been semi familiar with street fighter at the time because my dad loved the games. At the old arcade I remember finding an arcade machine titled X-Men vs Street Fighter and I lost my mind being big into superheroes and all. It was my first experience truly playing a fighting game and it’s what got me into them.
The first true Vs. game, and the first to have 2v2 tag teams! I remember how stoked I was when I learned that Rogue could use special moves of other characters after kissing them; my favorites were Yoga Flame, Spinning Pile Driver, and the Raging Demon!
I bought the Japanese version for the Sega Saturn at launch with 4MB RAM cart, and had no idea how to do those air combos. I just played it combo-ing like regular SFs before 🙈
Sabertooth lore: Sabertooth always tortured his little brother Saul in his birthday. There was a incident which ends with Logan killing Saul. When Sabertooth arrived at the circus where Saul their sister Clara were, only for Clara to tell him that Saul is no longer around for him to torment. Sabertooth decided to go after Wolverine on his birthday from now on.
Now THIS is my first "VS" type game I've ever played on Arcades. I was absolutely BLOWN away by the "2 character tag team" gameplay style, I didn't know Children of the Atom existed, I've only known Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat (among others) at the time and seeing SF getting paired with my obsession with X-Men at the time, I think it was love at first sight when I glanced over this arcade back then. I've spent many, MANY quarters on this bitch and I just couldn't get enough of it.
One of the first fighting games i played with my cousins. Given that we had no idea what to do we use to pick storm and spam typhoon to beat the game and watch all the endings
Still remember that I knew how to unlock AKUMA in this game! Phenomenal of a Fighter, and the true birth of the Vs. series! Also loved Rouge! Gosh darn it I still love the original 90’s X-men cartoon…..
My first arcade between the 2 companies and the arcade was that bloody loud when calling out the title lol. Ryus fire ball super in this seems longer than the other games
All the characters were strong. In MVC2, most got nerfed except for Storm and Magneshhh. I like Jugs' grab and head pound into the ground move. Wish it was in MVC2
I hear what the announcer for the Super Smash Bros. series was doing before booking the Smash gig. He was announcing "X-MEN VS STREET FIGHTERRR!!!" LOL
The port of this on my Saturn was too easy. No matter the difficulty setting. However it was still fun. Best $75 I spent as a kid. Xmen children of the atom was nearly impossible to beat.
Bison getting back in line to be in the arcade mode "Hmm? No that other guy was called Dictator I'm Bison :) my teammate is Magneto and I would like to fight."
"Birdie!"
*YES BOSS* 💥🔫
Minor trivia of the day:
Cammy's "Alpha" sprites debuted in X-Men vs. Street Fighter before she appeared in the Alpha series.
Yeah. Good call out.
Another fun fact! Cammy's theme in alpha gold is an arrange of this theme, meaning technically this is her theme for alpha 2!
Cool!
Dope
Ah yes, this was my first Marvel vs Capcom-ish, brings nostalgia.
Same here. I remember playing it with my uncle for hours and trying to get all the endings. Good times good times indeed.
Proud of you.
Can't believe I've played them all except marvel 2 the one I really want to play smh
You mean the first vs game
Same here bro 🤘🏼🕹️🤩
The way XvS Ryu calls out his move sounds so good. Gawd I miss this game
It was best overall in some ways. MVC1 amped it up and MVC2 was the start of things going bonkers. Then, UMVC3 just went ape shit..that damn Vergil lol

Finding this cab was truly a heavenly experience , looking for coins to put in the slot , a while different story
Damn you old. Just kidding I was born in 89.
The fact that this game has never been rereleased is a crime.
The future is bright!
We’re getting it!
We are living in the right timeline
Oh boy i do have the good news
It'd be a goofy thing to see, but I'd love to have a Sabretooth victory pose where he calls Birdie and gets the other Birdie instead.
That would be so funny.
That would've been hysterical 😆!
So _Street Fighter's_ Birdie would come in with a chain lasso grab instead? That would be a hilarious cross-reference! 😂
1 2 3..
Will we ever see that iconic handshake between ryu and cyclops again?
“Looks over at current cyclops in comics”
Prooooobly not
@@brandonspencer5594 Cyclops dead. Good riddance.

idk why but this sounds really funny to me.

Marvel Vs Capcom

Please 🙏🏽.
Who would win: a four thousand year old super mutant with god like power
Or Birdie
At the end of this, I see Max announcing something called "Marvel Vs. Capcom: Legacy", with EVERY game before "MVCI"
This is the MVC legacy.
Nah fuck that. Every game including mvci
that's already what this is
This one will conclude with MvC2, since that's the point of the hashtag. UMvC3 is readily available on Steam, so it's not "stuck" like the second game.
@@Hydrogue yeah but I want rollback for umvc3
Ah yes, old ass arcade games, where "difficult" just meant "make the enemy block almost everything"

This is the game where Rogue began stealing her opponent move by kissing.
The only game where you can flex on someone with a kiss.

Well, considering this was Rogue’s first appearance in a Capcom fighting game, no shit it was where she started doing the kiss thing.
How many people keep spelling Rogue's name "Rouge" this is crazy...

12:57 was very well synced with Max's notifications to go off.
Can you imagine what an X-Men VS Street Fighter 2 could be like now that we got so many more X-Men and Street Fighters?
In what art style though?
Good memories of playing this at Walmart. One of the only arcade games I ever beat and I believe the only arcade fighting game among them. With a team of Ken and Wolverine.
Cool to see Sabertooth in action. He may not have all that much to him, but he's one of my favorites from the VS series. I never see anyone use him.
Right? I always thought he was pretty cool in the games.
He was quite low tier. He is not as fast as wolverine nor have his cheap combos and he doesn't have projectiles. At least Cammy has super fast speed plus her attacks knock her opponents away to compensate for her weak attack.
Then you should check our Justin Wong's latest experimental touch-of-death combo in MvC2 featuring Sabretooth, Captain Commando, and Hayato! 😁
Always loved this boss fight. But then again this is the game that introduced me to the MvC universe.
LET'S GO CRAZY!!!
This game blew my god damn mind when I was little. I had never seen a game that looked tbis good.
What's up with Dhalsim's portrait in this game? He looks like he just realized he can see into the world outside the tv screen.

I love the artwork and the animations in this game. My mind was blown playing this on the Saturn back in the day.
I can feel max's frustration with the cpu of this game with each "NGRH" sound sabretooth makes
Honest take:
I'd rather get a big roster new xmen vs street fighter than a full mvc
Yeah. My primes were all X-men. I could see that.
Absolutely agree!!
This makes me nostalgic for the days I'd play this in the mall back in '97. I still remember the smell of the water fountain
