Rocky, what kind of treats are they? Ingredients? I don't have a dog, although I've always wanted one. I have a cat and I know that cats are obligate carnivores. So, do your treats contain only meat? I've been looking for something with no vegetables! None whatsoever. And food too, not just treats. I also know that cats need more protein than dogs. So I know I wouldn't give my cat dog food. 😆 Never mind. I saw the ingredients. 🥺
Dog looks like a purebred solid liver color german shorthaired pointer with natural (undocked tail). Not a lab. I know-- I've had GSPs and English pointers for 20+ years. Pointers tend to shut down in shelter situations. I used to volunteer for pointer rescue.
My heart breaks for this poor dog. Her behavior is so unlike a Lab. All of my dogs have been blk labs. They are the friendliest and affectionate dogs. Seeing her just sit there speaks volumes about the humans on her short life. 💔
For people who love animals, everyone should have a dog like Jenny middle name O'shocolat. Love her face, eyes, demeaner, she seems concerned every time she hears a dog barking in the canel.
I've seen others comment about Rocky's positive affirmations. I'm 60 years old father of three. Reasonably "tough". When he apologizes to the dogs for what they've been through, tells them they are good and loved, and worthy. Promises to keep them safe, I hear him saying it to every animal and every person who needs and deserves it. Brings me to tears, every time. Thank you Rocky. Rocky Kanaka 2024
Rusty is waiting for you. I had a Yorkie mix for 19 years. He went everywhere with me. I think I’m going get another dog. Lion will understand and there are SO many dogs that need homes.
I can’t understand the dark dog thing. I remember when I adopted my almost all black puppy 14 years ago and the shelter worker thanked me for adopting a black dog. I was floored when she told me how hard it is to get a black dog adopted. 14 years later, she’s been one of the best, cuddliest, cutest personality dog, I’ve ever had.
Thank you so much for your care and kindness. This precious girl so deserves it ❤. And big thanks to Mel, the wonderful mama groomer there ❤. In speaking about “being ready,” our teacher once told me “You don’t get over it. You make peace with it” 🙏🏻. Blessings 🩷🙏🏻🩷🐾🩷
We are in crisis mode over here on Maui. Our shelter is beyond capacity. The fires have been a catalyst for abandoned dogs and cats. We are in need of foster homes or for the visitors who are willing to take them to the mainland for adoption. People need homes to live in and most homes are not pet friendly. If anyone is coming to Maui and are looking for a dog to adopt, it’s a win win for us and for the dogs. Thank you for listening.
I have a message to people landlords you rent to people of the fires. You should allow the pets free into the rental . Healing is important for the victims of all varieties.
@@journeybrook9357 Hawaii and Alaska are forgotten by the mainland. The only time they know anything is when some disaster occurs. We’ve reached out to those foundations and no answer. PETA kills more animals than they find homes for. The American Humane Society is almost as bad. We are contacting individual animal shelters to ask for help n. Then we have volunteers who are visiting the islands if they would accompany them to the destination. Sometimes an airline will donate a space on the plane for transport. We also have volunteers who are on vacation check out a dog and take them to the beach to run. It gives them a chance to get out of the small space they are in. If anyone is coming to the island of Maui, please take a dog to the beach for an hour or so. Anything helps. Thank you.
Aww, that poor baby she's so scared she doesnt know what to do. Its almost like she thinks "maybe if i stay really still he wont hurt me" i just want to hold her and kiss her and show her that she is important and i love her❤
That precious dog was so capsulated in fear she was just frozen. I saw an immediate release when you held her in your lap. Those little ears finally perked up when you told her she was a good girl. She’s BEAUTIFUL, stinky or not. Jenny, I LOVE IT! ❤ Thank you Rocky for loving these little dog, you’re a blessing to them. Mel is a wonderful caregiver to these dogs. I pray she finds a loving forever home SOON.
Jenny is perfect... and everyone LOVES a box of chocolates & the movie 'Forrest Gump' The whole Kanaka family are amazingly loving souls ❤ Every pup you touch is very fortunate!!!
I'm 70 and I still tear up when I remember each of my dog-babies that have passed. You never "get over" their loss; you just move on when you're ready and keep them warm in your heart.. I currently have 2 dogs & 2 cats. All adopted. I cherish every minute we have together.
I adopted a chocolate lab in 2015. She ( Lucy) had been in a puppy mill. Lucy is now 18 and half yrs. Her health is beginning to have issues, but she is so loving. About 5 months ago the vet said Lucy might have 2 months left, but she is still going strong. I love her so very much and each morning she gets her massage, ear cleaning, and hugs. I do not want to think of the day when I no longer have her.
you have really cared for Lucy and she loves you back, i am certain of it. I had my rescue puppy, aged 12 week, for nearly 14 wonderful years. You will find the strength to cope. I did and I thought I wouldn't. Make the most of her, as you do, but try to trick your mind into thinking when the day comes, if necessary, you will be the ultimate carer/mum/loving friend and do the right thing. My dog, Betsy, and had a very loving relationship, hugs each morning and ear tickles, on my lap. and throughout the day. After feeding her i was brought a favourite toy. Not to play, but in thanks. She would then settle down for a sleep. lol. Many happy memories will shore you up. Just stay realistic as I am sure you are.
It's not about replacing flip. Some people just don't realize that you're grieving. Grief takes it's own path and time. You lost an integral member of your family. You need to take it in your own time. You are a great person. You have the biggest heart. Time isn't the issue, your heart is. When you're ready you'll open up to another pup. Keep up the amazing work.
Rocky, I lost my husband to suicide. I have also loss my first soul dog many years before. I have learned through crisis and trauma counseling that the death of a loved one (no matter how they died) or a soul animal never really goes away, you learn to carry it with you. It is very difficult and you will never forget them but you really do learn to carry the grief with you. Much love from outside Washington, DC. 😢♥️😢♥️
@@lilac6940 Hello Lilac, thank you very much for your lovely comment. That is the same reasons I watch Rocky. It helps my soul feel lighter just knowing those dear dogs are being emotionally cared for. ♥️😘
Absolutely...my niece died almost 2 years ago in a violent, single car wreck. It was like a nightmare...I'll never let her go...ever. She was the daughter I never had and I raised her from an infant...I'm sick of people saying...it'll get better with time.' No, it won't...blessings to you, sweet lady 🫂💐🐾🐾💖
I wish Rocky would make us a video of all his affirmations.. His words are healing and change something in me every time I hear them. Both of my parents are not encouraging. They have always lectured me on my mistakes, on how they would do things differently, how I haven't done XYZ, how I should be more like them or my siblings, etc. I have learnt that no matter what I do I will never meet their expectations of me. I tried and ended up bed bound with a list of chronic health challenges. If I do what they want, how and when they want me to it's not good enough. They then nit pick through the tiny details or find something else that I should have done. I made a big mistake in my twenties, trusted someone who was using me and my family, and it took me 18 years to get free from the resulting mess. Last month I finished dealing with it. I let my parents know and inky got another lecture. I have done my best to be responsible, to do the right thing every chance I get. My parents have blamed me for the mess, lectured me over and over. They don't see what I have done to make the situation right, they only see the mistake and see me as I was all those years ago. They don't understand. So I use Rocky's words to encourage myself. I also use affirmation videos from UA-cam to help me calm down when I'm upset.
I had my Pomeranian Molly for 19 yrs, last August she just laid down and went to sleep. I can't even begin to explain the loss. I've had many dogs in my 68yrs and each one of them has their own special place in my heart. A friend told us about a 3yr old black Pom that was used for breeding that needed a home. So we went to see her, last week, and of course we brought her home. She is just starving for affection, she is right by our side all the time, so sweet. We named her Luna. I can't help but to think Molly sent her to us. Thank you Molly, we love you too
So sorry for yr loss I know how hard. We just had our beautiful maine coon almost 18yrs old taken from us by 2 dogs running loose. She was very arthritic but still comfortable & happy just sunning herself when attacked. She only suffered broken ribs but after a wk of TLC she just went to sleep & was gone. So glad you have another its SO horrible to come home to an empty house after losing your so much ♥️d pet.
All the best with Luna - so glad you gave an overbred dog a loving home! You’re right - pain from losing your doggie friend never goes away - so sorry for your losses but so glad you found a new little soul to love!❤❤❤❤
Perfect! Wow 19 years -amazing. I believe my dog Bear was my childhood dog reincarnated in a 25 lb version as my first dog as an adult. They were even the same color.
I have a wonderful 8 year old Pom without the nervousness and full of love. I live near Nashville. I had a wonderful chocolate lab previously and giving Jenny a home would be a dream for me. How can we make it happen?
Someone once told me when your fur babies pass you don’t try to “replace” them. You look for the room in your heart to welcome in more love. It’s amazing our capacity to share love when animals give it so freely. Thank you for the work you do.
Both times I lost my beloved cats, we adopted a shelter cat. Not only did it save the cat - it saved my mental health to be able to give love to a new furbaby. Nothing could ever replace the kittys I lost, but my heart grew with each new cat. I have so much to offer a shelter animal, I couldn't think of a better way to honor my kitty's life, than to save another one.
Yes. I think it is a great way to memorialize and honor a previous beloved pet that passed. But still one needs to allow time to grieve the loss of the previous. Or you do an adoption in the waning years of the current pet. Cat's 17/or so but still showing vitality? Maybe get an eight year old kitty too if you can manage another. That way the newer one has earned his/her place in your heartt when the elder passes.@@lisabelle7553
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are". ~Anonymous
I doubt that this pup should be returned to her original owners, even if they could be found. She has obviously suffered abuse. I hope she finds her forever home with the loving family she deserves.
How is it obvious that she suffered abuse? Because of two scars? Because we have no clue what caused them. It could have been abuse, but it also might not have been. And IF it was abuse, how do you know it happened by the hands of the owner? I don't think it right or good to jump to conclusions. We need more facts ... which we may or may not ever have.
@@djondjon I agree with you. This pup did not give the impression that she had been abused. to me, she was a dog that somehow got free and that caused her to be in a messy state.
I lost my heart dog in 2020. Three weeks before turning 13 to cancer. Six months after he passed I decided to honor Brownie and save another. Little did I know the new dog made the sun shine again. It has been almost four years. Do I still miss Brownie? Absolutely! Do I still cry? Absolutely! Do I love my new girl? Absolutely!
I really like that you use the term “soul dog.” I’m 70 now and had 6 dogs. I loved all of them very much, but there was one dog who was different - I can’t really say why, he was my soul dog. After 3 years I still miss him so much. The same with one of the many cats I’ve had.
There definitely is such a thing, I have loved all my dogs since childhood, and I love the one I have now BUT my last dog was my soul dog, 11 years and I can still cry over her. She literally helped me raise my two boys, INSTRUMENTAL. Taught them to not fight even if it was because she got so upset, they did not want to upset her no matter what the issue between them was:)
Thanks - I wish I could cuddle her. This extra thanks is in memory of my best, most loving dog who died about 18 months ago. I still miss him so very much even though we’ve adopted more dogs since, but he was special and this little dog needs so much love. ❤️
When it is your time, you will see a hill and a horizon. Over that hill and the horizon you will see a waggly tail. It will be your precious pup, coming to take you home with him. That's how I often see my precious girl: a field of hay, and she will come for me, my great grandpa, who died 2 weeks before I was born and an animal whisperer, smiling, following her. 🌈
Jenny… she is so beautiful and sweet, even before her bath ! Rocky, when you get the dogs to relax, especially when you scoop them into you lap, I feel it. You are a doggie Angel, Mel is the loving Queen of grooming and makeovers, Kelly and Alexa are compassionate Guardian Angels. You haven’t sat with a dog I wouldn’t adopt. They are all so special. 🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🥰 Thank you for what you do, and giving me the honor of being a small part of it.
I am sitting here crying as I write this. I have a real soft spot for chocolate labs as I had one but lost him to cancer. It breaks my heart to see such a scared and sad lab when I know that they are such a happy, carefree breed.😭
I totally can relate about being not ready for a new pup. I lost my doggies six months apart, and they lived to be 13 after I adopted them both from a shelter. They crossed the rainbow in 2009, and I'm just now feeling like I can have pups again. Rocky, thank you for being so vulnerable--I truly respect that! --Michelle
Speaking as the owner of a dog that will not take treats when it's too scared... if a dog is too scared to eat a treat, sometimes they will try it if you pretend to eat one yourself first to show them it's safe.
Oh my heart She's absolutely beautiful. Bless her heart. She definitely needs some TLC. Anxious dogs need some patience and eventually they'll open up. She reminds me of my lab mix when I rescued her. Black dogs are beautiful. I really hope she opens up more and with the right person she'll find trust and be so much more bright hearted. I would name her Annie to let her know the sun will come out tomorrow. ☀️♥️ Such a good girl.
Soul dog. You got me there. I cried. I'm not ready either even tho it's been a while ane everyone says yes. Thank you for that acknowledgement. And the part about carrying a comfort piece with you.
Carrying that comfort piece keeps you connected to that love. I lost a baby in tragic circumstances many years ago. I kept her ultrasound, and various other items but that wasn't enough. I then got the date engraved on my gold ring. I could always sense it there and it gave me great comfort. Well done Rocky for talking about your grief and mentioning the dog tag. I still have all the old collars and tags as well as heaps of photos from my fur babies.
I have had 8 dogs since I was 21. Most of them came from shelters or rescued from unwanted home. Two of them I inherited from my late mom. My memory after death is their collars and tags. I have never been without a dog as one gets old, God brings me a new one. Love adopting from a shelter. Blessings for what you do.
Your heart is so big it makes sense that your grieving is big! I waited nine months after i lost my last dog and I am about to lose one of my two current dogs to cancer. I am in the middle of anticipatory grief. Seeing you help these dogs lifts my heart and i am glad that you bring Flip with you! I love the box of chocolates! Jenny is so sweet!
Rocky, I lost my soul mate a little over 3 years ago. My sister called him Cody because she said we were codependent. He never left my side and it took me 2 years to get over the loss. I hadn't planned to get another dog when we did but we had to take my stepsons dog as he moved and couldn't keep him. He has been such a blessing. I absolutely understand your loss and love when you talk about Flip because it's nice to know that someone understands what it feels like to lose something so precious.
@user-wf4ro7oi3w I lost my fur son on September 1, 2023. It tore my heart out, and I am still having so much grief over my loss. His name is Charcoal, because he was coal black, and had a crested silver head and socks. He was extremely loyal up to the very end. I went down to the basement that day, where he slept in his warm bed, and called him.....then, I realized he had left me!! Oh, the immediate shock and grief took over my entire body. My wife came down after she heard me sobbing, and held me. My wife has told me several times, that I gave him a good life, and showed him love every step of the way. How I miss my son!! I can relate to you.....
He was diagnosed with an adrenal tumor and inflammatory bowl disease. He underwent surgery and seemed to be doing great and then suddenly began hemorrhaging and died shortly after our getting him to the vet. I have had all my babies cremated when they die and when I go I am going to be cremated and they will be with me forever. @@sylviekins
She is beautiful and an absolute angel. I couldn't help but see her leg muscle twitching SO MUCH as she sat there. I hope she isn't in any pain, and that she finds the perfect forever home. With how absolutely adorable she is, and now you're showcasing her here, it won't be long.
Just means she nervous, and any movement Rocky may make causes to do that as a reflex action. So VERY sad and heartbreaking to see a dog be so frozen and nervous like this. 🥺😭💔🥺😭💔But in the end, it's sooo worth it when they FINALLY brighten up with such joy knowing there are people out there that do actually care so much and want to love back immensely. 😌😊😊🤗🫂💞💗❤️💞💗❤️
I’m from the uk, and I so want her. She’s beautiful. If I saw a dog shut down in a shelter, I wouldn’t walk past. I would be like “look a dog that needs saving”.
Valentine a.k.a Jenny … is a sweet beautiful chocobrown pup ❤. I pray she would get adopted in no time and and live happily ever after with her forever family. No more living in dumpster or sewer ever again. Thanks Rocky from bringing her out from despair 🙏🏼
Bringing another dog in after a loss helps you to open yourself to loving again. You’re not replacing your soul dog, you’re gaining help toward healing. It was what got me through.
I'm currently a drug counsellor, but for a long time I worked as a grief counsellor, which taught me so very much about people, and it was an honour to be able to see them through their long, painful journey to recovery. I totally see what you're saying, but I think it depends on the person. Some people can react as you say and a new dog, cat, etc can help them to recover (which is wonderful), but others can take a long time to be able to open their hearts again. If someone takes on a new animal companion too soon, they can end up comparing it to their previous one, which can lead to unexpected problems, sometimes even resentment of the new furry friend, even though that's the very last outcome anyone intended or foresaw. Everyone is different and everyone needs their own time to recover from the trauma of loss. Having said all that, I'm so very glad to hear that your new dog helped you to heal, and I wish you many, many happy years together. :) xx
Point taken. Buuut a real animal lover who's thinking and acting selflessly understands that minimal space and a bit of time offers much more than living in the chaos, noise and madness of a small dirty cage (often shared). These dogs sorely need a place to decompress from the trauma many have experienced. The majority are physically torn up, malnourished and in pain. Emotionally bruised and beat up too! Rocky doesn't need to find and replace his "heart dog", but Can care for fosters. Offer the minimal which is everything for many,, and saves lives.... I disagree with his reasoning and selfish actions. .. Additionally he's emotionally uneducated and doesn't really SEE or share his energy with the dogs he visits. Yet it's a lot and beats a blank...
I recently rescued a darker than dark boy from a shelter to keep our other rescue company. He is so dark that we lose him in the house if the light is off, very dark eyes..he is darker than a shadow....love that boy
I have a soft spot in my heart for Labs. I own 4 Lab/Mix and one dachshund. We just lost one of our babies on the 20th of January she was 3 years old, Lab mix. Daphne was sweet and quirky, very hyper, she loved to steal my socks, she was playing keep away with one when we believe she had a heart attack. It was very sudden, and I still struggle to think about her without tears. She will always be missed and I will be crying for along time. 😪
We have a large black Labradoodle, more Lab almost no evidence of poodle. She is so sweet and loves everybody. She also steals socks, shoes and slippers but doesn’t destroy them.
I really didn't know that about dark colored dogs in shelters. I've grown up with dogs in the house my entire life and I'm 45 now and have two of my own. Every dog my family's ever had has come from a shelter. Almost all of them have been dark colored dogs too. I'm quite partial to them actually. Glad to know that me and my family have helped out some dogs that might have had a harder chance getting adopted. ❤️
Rocky, I had my schipperke, Buddy, for over 17 years and he was the best dog I ever had. I’ll be 68 next month and have had a dog all my life. When it was finally time to let Buddy go, I wasn’t sure if I could handle getting another dog. I didn’t think I could handle the heartbreak of losing them. Well, I did get another dog, and another and then I had two dogs. I now have three because my dad died last January and I took his dog. I can honestly say, none of the dogs replaced what I had with Buddy, but I can’t imagine my life without them. My dad’s dog is 13, deaf and blind, but I’ll take loving care of him until his last day. My other two dogs are my heart and joy and hope they will live to be as old as Buddy. I write this to say, you may never be able to replace Flip, but you can fill that void with someone like Jenny.
This one broke my heart. Poor sweet baby. I know it sounds crazy but it seemed like she understood when you called her "stinky". Poor baby. She is beautiful❤
We often think of ourselves as the rescuers of these lovely souls. Truth be told, they actually are the ones that rescue us.....from our loneliness, our lack of a sense of purpose, having someone to share our feelings with who shares their compassion with us in return, someone who always loves to see us and be with us no matter how short or long we've been gone. They make us laugh and help us find our smiles all the time. They are not "pets." They are companions and just as much a part of our families as any human. I can't imagine my life without a dog and a cat. And I'm lucky that they are buddies, playing and napping together. Thanks for the reminders of how much they give us, even the tuff to place dogs. They are all worth every moment of our love and respect.❤
So true "pets" get to be part of the family. Be loved and give so much more in loads. I believe they are some are some of the "angels" God put on earth.
I want to adopt her!!! I lost my dog 2 years ago and my sons dog 1 year ago coming up. It has broken our hearts. They were both rescues. Jenny can you find it in your heart to be our girl and share our home?
Rocky, no hurry! My chocolate lab was with me from 8 weeks to 15 years. He was magnificent! We learn to live with loss but never get over it! Take your time. I absolutely love what you do!
You are too kind. Honestly though the angel here is this cute little pup. I think I can see wings on her she just has them tucked away right now because she's scared.
This is a baby I would run to the shelter and adopt. I am going to pray someone gets excited to own her! I’m calling her Sally!! Thanks for giving her lovin!!
I am a pediatric Rn. That might seem like a strange qualification to let you know what sometimes works for kids, especially those that are young or have experienced trauma. I sit with quietly and softly talk to them about anything. My garden, my pets, my favorite stories when I was a child.e.t.c. Your gentle presence and voice can do wonders . Worth a try, and I hope it works.
Also works w lizards and insects and birds, I've discovered (even plants). I think sound is so primal for all living beings that they respond positively to soothing sound no matter the words used
@@cynthiagimbel6590it does seem to be universal! dogs certainly understand. having speech disabilities was actually an advantage for me working with shelter dogs. scared dogs liked how quiet and slow I talk and didn't care if I didn't get all the words right 😊❤
I bet she was a christmas puppy that got loose and the owners never found her. Scrounging for food and surviving. Shes beautiful. Ive always wanted a chocolate lab. Hope the best for her.
I wasn't ready when I got my bunny who just recently died. Your show popped on while I was heavily grieving him(still am) . Because of this show I went out and adopted an old black dog (same age as the bunny I lost). I was grieving my bunny and he was grieving his person who also died. We're helping each other through a tough time even tho we'd both rather be with the ones we lost.
It’s such a blessing to adopt an older dog! They need love and hugs and kisses too! ❤. We adopted a black and white pit bull that was abandoned in a boarded up house and left for dead. She was found by a passerby and brought to the shelter we got her from a foster organization after 9 months there. Our dog is so grateful and happy now.
JS-tv8sf - Thank you for understanding the seriousness of grieving! You are an angel for rescuing the older pup, as people overlook that! Bless you and your companion! 🙏❤
@JS-tv8sf, Please grieve your bunny but love and accept your black dog, they're truly sensitive to human rejection, he's just following your vibe, he's patiently waiting for your much needed love and comfort. Thank you.
This sweet angel is absolutely terrified 😨 it breaks my heart into a million pieces. She's acting like she's been abused. I pray she finds the most amazing loving home that shows her how beautiful and amazing she is and is treated as such!!! ❤❤❤
You never get over the loss. You adjust to it. And when that happens, you'll be ready for another special fur friend. But don't ever try to replace the dog you lost! You cannot ever find a replacement. When you adjust, you will be ready for a new and different dog to love.
Thanks! Hope that first bath was so wonderful for her. I’m sure she’ll be adopted fast but I’m definitely considering making a trip up there. Hugs to you-I lost my soul dog over eight years ago and she’s always in my heart and mind.❤
i just adopted (2 wks ago) a young dog who is just as feaful and timid! we've had ups and downs with her...she'll hide under the bed and not come out if given the chance 😞it is heartbreaking. but we're patiently loving her through, and have the promise of better days!
Awesome. And they will come. Sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes weeks, I have even had hoarding case dogs that take months or more but with patience they will come around. Keep up the good work!
the harm done is so sad! down the road if shiloh wants under the bed, it's OK. right now working out her trust of us. ❤ we celebrate any small victories, of which there are plenty to rejoice in!
@@kimoda9451 my previous dog was abused, too. It took her about three months to trust and Promise became a party girl, best dog I’ve ever had. Hope for you and Shiloh better days ahead!
I am aslo a volunteer in my city's selter here in Greece. I do watch carfully your "technics" in approaching "shut down" dogs and make them a little bit happier. No strange that my four legged fammily consists of......... 5 ex-stray dogs, spoiled to the roof!!!! 😃😃😃 Thank you for all your assistanse in prooving that big dark stray mix dogs are the best members for one's family.... My 2 daugters have.... 3 more ex-stray dogs.... that is my......... bad influence!!! 😁😁😁
I So Love watching your videos, with the transformation of the dog from a shut down dog to a more relaxed one. I hope this choice gets rehoused quickly. We support our local dog rescue charity, The Dogs Trust, here in Norfolk, UK too. It's so heartbreaking to see shut-down dogs, but good to know when they get to their forever-home! Thank you for sharing your kind dress in these videos!
oh my goodness Rocky! I am in Oklahoma, and I cried through this video...then when Kelly named her Jennie...The tears took over. 😢 😭 💔 That's my first born daughters name who passed away in 1986. I pray she finds perfect love! Thank you for your love for these sweet babies!
To true "dog" people, dogs are actually a part of our families. It's okay to grieve. If and when you are ready to add another member to your family, you'll know. And you don't have to justify that to anyone. You really do a great job with these beautiful creatures and we appreciate you for all you do for them.
It took me two years to get another dog after I lost my soul dog, Odin. I knew I would adopt another dog, but I needed the time to grieve. Take all the time you need to grieve Flip. Don't let anyone rush you into getting another dog. When you're ready, you will know.
Hey Rocky.... sending love to you and the Kanaka family on your loss of the amazing Flip the doggo.... I can totally relate on what you said about loosing your fur baby..... I had a cross breed best friend collie and terrier named milo.... he was super loving and amazing family member..... we made the right decision on letting him go to rainbow bridge....And it hurts so bad he's been chasing squirrels in the sky since Nov 4th 2023 and now its March 28th 2024 and it still hurts so bad.... So just sending some love from Zoe UK!❣❣❣❣
Goodness watching her from the beginning ….. I’m sure there were so many of us all over the USA that were wishing they could adopt her and give her lots of love and attention. These are always hard to watch. Thankful for Rocky and this channel to give so many sad dogs a chance ❤️
Sad to watch, but for us dog/animal lovers, it's also a good example of someone walking through the pain to help a little life see hope that things CAN get better..for them and us.
11:46 those SAD PUPPY EYES break my heart, their fear is palpable & makes me want to snuggle them even more! I understand, I was homeless for a very short time & the human rejection was disheartening & broke me for a little bit, & I have a voice to speak my struggles. These guys don't have a voice to tell us anything. THANK YOU ✌💜🙏
I lost my "soul" cat almost 2 years ago and I don't know if I'll ever get another. And that's ok. I have friends who constantly advise me to get another cat to perhaps ease the mourning but it's possible that it would do quite the opposite and that I'd be making comparisons unfair to the new kitty. My boy was truly special and irreplaceable and our home is still filled with his energy and essence and to honor him we're happy to keep our home his and his alone...
Hi, I am an elderly Norwegian lady, and I watched your attempt to get the labrador to relax. I got the idea that perhaps if you left the room for a moment and then came back? It would tell the dog that you are willing to yield, . And perhaps also she would welcome you back? Anyway: Thank for your work and devotion to these poor animals.
My Doodles was with me 10 years and cancer got her. Merlin, her litter brother, was with me 16 years. I wasn't ready until 3 months later when he visited me in a dream letting me know I needed to get another dog. So I rescued 2! ❤❤❤ I still have their dog tags on my key ring. When the jingle I think of them.
My heart goes out to every dog you are sitting with Rocky. I dont understand that dark dog issue either. Both of my dogs were black and the cutest, cuddliest and most loyal dogs I ever knew. Its,been 10 mpnths, now that I had to put my almost 16 year old Australian Sheoherd to sleep. She was very close to my heart. My grief is still raw. And it was ecen worse with my first Australian Shepherd which died aged 14. She was my soul dog and it took me years to grieve her. My heart always starts dancing when a dog opens up and trusts again. I also always appreciate it when the grooming and bathing is being shown. Or rescue with really tough medical cases. It means so much for the wellbeing of the dog.
This was like watching a miracle. She was so shut down, so afraid, so muted. By the end, she was a different dog. You gave this dog the gifts of love and kindness! That's all she needed to finally open her heart again... Thank you Rocky, Mel, Kelly, Alexa, and ALL the shelter staff!!!! You're doing what I would give anything to do again. Bless you all. Jenny, you are a GOOD GIRL!!! 🤗💗
You are my much younger "soul brother" from another mother! I foster kittens every kitten season, all season long for the county animal services where I reside in northern California. When someone thanks me for saving lives, all I can think is that really, the kittens are saving my life and filling my empty nest. I truly love animals more than people. :)
I was given a gift of a wooden sign that says, I love all cats and some people. Thanks for helping the kittens and I am happy that you feel nurtured by doing so.
I hear you loud and clear I love animals way more than people that is 100% for sure I did fostering for 13 years and ended with 16 cats of my own and still fostered, it is bitter sweet when they get their forever home but all the work you put in will make you appreciate life in different ways that if you did not foster you would of not been able to enjoy the little things that fostering brings into your life, like little ears that wiggles when they take the bottle or the joy of seeing a little kitten open their eyes and many more!!!! JUST SAYING. Have a great day!
There are many animals better than many people, that’s for sure. The beautiful thing about dogs is that they give you unconditional love w/ out asking much in return other than to be fed, taken out to for potty breaks, &simply loved. They can just show up w/ their presence alone, & that can be more comforting than a human being, who might be saying all the wrong things during a tough time.
Thank God this puppy 🐶 was rescued. I pray that this beautiful puppy 🐶 find a wonderful Compassionate loving home and awesome family. I also pray that she 🐶 has along and strong life. Blessings to ALL 🙏🏽❤️❤️🩹🐶
I love what happened with Jenny! I cried watching her come out of her shell. You do great work. Unfortunately I’m a senior on a low income and can’t afford to help you financially.
She's going to be a confident dog once she has a stable environment. She's so darn cute and I'll be checking to see if she finds a home. I can see her becoming a therapy dog. I swear she's going to be such a confident dog when her person comes to get her.
My heart melted when Jenny noticed herself in the mirror after her bath and groom. She is a beautiful dog. I would adopt a dog who has been through abandonment. They usually learn to love again with patience. They are deserving of a home more than anyone. ❤
Yeah I hear you about soul dog's. It's been 25 years and still I can't get another dog, even though my heart would love to have another German Sheppard. Love what you do. Thank you. Beautiful chocolate lab ❤
About five minutes in her back leg stopped quivering and a minute or so after that her eyes relaxed. It is so amazing to watch the physical changes as the sitting session progresses. Thanks for sharing these small miracles.
What a beautiful, gentle soul she is. She has the most gorgeous, rich, shiny chocolate coat! She definitely needs a calm, loving, patient pet parent and probably someone who doesn't have little children because of how fearful and gentle she is. I pray that she finds that.🙏🏽 Thank you for the patience, gentle persistence and affection that you have shown her to help her to trust.❤
I was watching your video about Beans surgery 😢 and now I'm watching you in the kennel with the chocolate lab. It just breaks my heart . I watch your videos every day, wishing I could adopt them all! I'm 79 and on a limited income wishing I could do more. God bless you and your family and the other rescuers.
Rocky how precious is she .Everytime you tell the pups its going to be ok .I ball my eyes out. So imagine the feelings your giving that pup. Its wonderful, it may be the first time they've ever heard it's going to be ok. Earth Angels are the names i give anyone that helps animals. Truly helps them. In Canada we have such good laws now. People think twice before abuseing animals, as the jail time is real. My father years ago helped create laws to help animals. Take care and thank you for helping them. He also shut down many puppy mills. 🐶 🐾💗
Jenny is such a sweet puppy. You could see how she was relaxing, whilst you were talking in your calm way. I hope that she gets a wonderful loving home, because boy does this sweet girl deserve it. xxx

We really appreciate these videos, no matter how short they are
I love what you're doing Rocky. You're a compassionate man.
Never mind. I saw the ingredients. 🥺
Oh Jenny, sweet girl! You've come so far already! We love you! So happy you are more comfortable now!
You are the best 60 yr old dad who cares with love and compassion. You have my best of wishes.

Precious Brown Sweet Baby ..
Rocky for President!!
I'm 74. I lost my sweet Rusty when I was 19. I still occasionally cry for my loss. He is waiting for me. I can't wait to see him again.
❤ YES! YOU WILL SEE YOUR BELOVED PET AGAIN! ❤
Yes, Rusty is waiting for you! There’s a joyous reunion in your future, when it’s the proper time. ❤❤❤
Rusty is waiting for you. I had a Yorkie mix for 19 years. He went everywhere with me. I think I’m going get another dog. Lion will understand and there are SO many dogs that need homes.
I’m also 74 and I know my pets will be waiting for me too ❤❤
It is so hard to live without my soul dog. I cry every day.
Yo creo que lo más canalla que se puede hacer con un perro es ,abandonarlo ,su amo se merece lo peor que le pase
All my animals have been black, and they were all rescues except for my childhood dog.
Same with black cats. I adopted my Gadget 9 years ago, and he's been the smartest, most loving cat ever.
Love Gadget as a name!
The dog I rescued was a black shepherd /skipper key mix, he was gorgeous
Why hasn't Humane Society or Peta help with connection to the mainland for flight and facility to adoption?
Thank you.
@@journeybrook9357 Very good question.
@@journeybrook9357 it cost lots of moneys for planes transport animals and many shelters have limit space.
PS Jenny! Perfect!!
I'm 70 and I still tear up when I remember each of my dog-babies that have passed. You never "get over" their loss; you just move on when you're ready and keep them warm in your heart.. I currently have 2 dogs & 2 cats. All adopted. I cherish every minute we have together.
❤
I adopted a chocolate lab in 2015. She ( Lucy) had been in a puppy mill. Lucy is now 18 and half yrs. Her health is beginning to have issues, but she is so loving. About 5 months ago the vet said Lucy might have 2 months left, but she is still going strong. I love her so very much and each morning she gets her massage, ear cleaning, and hugs. I do not want to think of the day when I no longer have her.
I think Lucy will live for several more years. She sounds like a fighter.🤎
😢
It sounds like Lucy is so incredibly lucky to have you!
Every morning when you hug Lucy, tell her I love her and hug her for me.
you have really cared for Lucy and she loves you back, i am certain of it.
Well said.
Humans that care for animals as much as he does, are the best kind of human
She is gonna be the absolute sweetest thing once she gets passed her trauma.
So true ...
Janet, you are a true survivor. God bless you. I find that watching Rocky helping these precious lost-soul dogs is really soothing and cathartic.
@@lilac6940 Hello Lilac, thank you very much for your lovely comment. That is the same reasons I watch Rocky. It helps my soul feel lighter just knowing those dear dogs are being emotionally cared for. ♥️😘
Yes so true. ❤ lost my only son and my dog of 16 yrs. It NEVER leaves you.
When Rocky does the positive affermation with these pups, I sob like a baby.
So do I!!
Me too!
OMG I do too! I need to hear those things so I pretend he is talking to me. I use it as practice on how to love myself
I'm so sorry this girl's been treated so bad. Please someone give this angel a good home. 😢
She is so 😢and scared but maybe likes women only. She seems very nervous I never seen a lab refuse a treat or a tennis ball.
Looks like the sweet talk and skull massage is helping.
She is so brave 🙂🐶
How old is she?
@@laurahennessy2893 - Looks like 6 or 8 months.

Loving another pet in need is a beautiful way to honor the one you've lost
~Anonymous
@@genevievel5309That’s a beautiful quote. Thank you.

Oh she's so beautiful. It absolutely breaks my heart that she's been neglected.
I really like that you use the term “soul dog.” I’m 70 now and had 6 dogs. I loved all of them very much, but there was one dog who was different - I can’t really say why, he was my soul dog. After 3 years I still miss him so much.
The same with one of the many cats I’ve had.
I had a soul dog. I feel truly blessed. Going on 3 years. Still miss her, still cry.
She's beautiful. Thank you for caring for her.
Thanks - I wish I could cuddle her. This extra thanks is in memory of my best, most loving dog who died about 18 months ago. I still miss him so very much even though we’ve adopted more dogs since, but he was special and this little dog needs so much love. ❤️

Good luck and many blessings Michelle. I hope by now you have felt okay to have that addition to your family.❤❤
Eyes show the personality...fear, confusion, scared, uncertainty, love, etc. All of these can be seen in her big, beautiful eyes...
Speaking as the owner of a dog that will not take treats when it's too scared... if a dog is too scared to eat a treat, sometimes they will try it if you pretend to eat one yourself first to show them it's safe.

Exactly my feelings and approach
PS - I'm also from the UK. Hello fellow Brits! :)
Yeah. Me too! Sweet dog. Take care!
EXACTLY
I read that you should wait a year after a loss, due to the fact that a new dog can pick up on the sadness and it may affect the new dog.
Me too.
I recently rescued a darker than dark boy from a shelter to keep our other rescue company. He is so dark that we lose him in the house if the light is off, very dark eyes..he is darker than a shadow....love that boy
What did you name him? Cat people call black cats voids.
I have a gray and white cat, and dark gray cat. I go to pet the lighter cat and often bump the dark one because I can't see them.
You are a good human
LOVE👼🏻💕🤧✝️🐕❤️🩹
So true "pets" get to be part of the family. Be loved and give so much more in loads. I believe they are some are some of the "angels" God put on earth.
I totally agree with you!
@@mariapetherbridge3116 I agree with you 100 %❤
Your comforting voice cute giggle and soft touch just melts away the fear poor little babies hope she gets a good home
I want to adopt her!!! I lost my dog 2 years ago and my sons dog 1 year ago coming up. It has broken our hearts. They were both rescues. Jenny can you find it in your heart to be our girl and share our home?
Oh my GOSH, I HOPE that you GO AND GET HER! She's BEAUTIFUL and please send pics to Rocky after you take her home! ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Her DEEP sadness and reaction to your touching her leads me to feel she does or did belong to SOMEONE.
I hope you can have her
Did you adopt her?!?! Please UPDATE US!
I hope you go and get this precious soul! 🙏❤️
12:32 I had a chocolate lab tears ago who passed away. She is a precious one
They never stay with us long enough
Nailed it with naming her Jenny!! What an absolute sweet girl 🥰
I hope Jenny's been able to find a forever home. she seems like such a sweet girl and could be such a good dog for someone.
Rocky, no hurry! My chocolate lab was with me from 8 weeks to 15 years. He was magnificent! We learn to live with loss but never get over it! Take your time. I absolutely love what you do!
Rocky, you are an angel sent from heaven! Thank you for everything you do.

God bless you in your work, Alicia
Also works w lizards and insects and birds, I've discovered (even plants). I think sound is so primal for all living beings that they respond positively to soothing sound no matter the words used
@@cynthiagimbel6590it does seem to be universal! dogs certainly understand. having speech disabilities was actually an advantage for me working with shelter dogs. scared dogs liked how quiet and slow I talk and didn't care if I didn't get all the words right 😊❤
@@cynthiagimbel6590 I talk to my houseplants!!
You will both make one another so happy ❤️
Bless you for rescuing an older dog.
@JS-tv8sf,
Please grieve your bunny but love and accept your black dog, they're truly sensitive to human rejection, he's just following your vibe, he's patiently waiting for your much needed love and comfort.
Maybe she wants you to help this baby?
God Bless this Shelter God bless you Rocky and all people who HELP Their ❤
i just adopted (2 wks ago) a young dog who is just as feaful and timid! we've had ups and downs with her...she'll hide under the bed and not come out if given the chance 😞it is heartbreaking. but we're patiently loving her through, and have the promise of better days!
Awesome. And they will come. Sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes weeks, I have even had hoarding case dogs that take months or more but with patience they will come around. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for helping your adopted baby.
My girl was abused and it took her a long time to be able to approach people. Over 8 years later she still goes under the bed when she is scared.
the harm done is so sad! down the road if shiloh wants under the bed, it's OK. right now working out her trust of us.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss! This video is just a reminder that your Jennie is still with you ❣️🤗

THANK YOU ✌💜🙏
Monk-eee thank you for saying that" humans"? can be the crawlers beast! on this planet‼️ A lot of times it is...... especially to the animals 🤬
I had a dog for 17 years and when she passed it took me 4 years before I was ready to get another. I still think of her.
My boy was truly special and irreplaceable and our home is still filled with his energy and essence and to honor him we're happy to keep our home his and his alone...
she doesnt have to replace flip in order for her to have a special place in your life. Flip is always with you, he may love to spread the love
Aww, she is so sweet and so scared, my heart can't help but wanna hug and play with her ❤
You are my much younger "soul brother" from another mother!
Oh! I never knew there was such a thing as "kitten season". Is it spring?
Thank you for what you do
There are many animals better than many people, that’s for sure.
Blessings to ALL

This little girl is so beautiful. Just heart wrenching . I just don't know how you do it i would just cry. God bless this chocolate one. Amen
I pray that she finds that.🙏🏽
Thank you for the patience, gentle persistence and affection that you have shown her to help her to trust.❤
Now about Bella ?
Or maybe Lily?
Samantha?
Jenny is a sweet name.
Makes me proud to be Canadian and have a fur baby 😊
My trigger to bawling is always "it's not your fault".
As a human who wasn't held or loved, it heals a part of me when he says that.

@cathytilford388 thank you 🫶🏻

Jenny is such a sweet puppy. You could see how she was relaxing, whilst you were talking in your calm way. I hope that she gets a wonderful loving home, because boy does this sweet girl deserve it. xxx
