    Hey man, talked to you a long time ago and my engine being messed up. Turns out piston cracked and went to bottom end wiped out a bunch of shit. Long story short 1400$ and got it running. Then my starter clutch went and got that fixed. Runs like a beast now just trying to sell it.

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 роки тому

      I've replaced the starter clutch in mine twice because the spring behind the bearings kept getting stuck and would just cause the starter to spin and not the engine. That sucks that you had that piston issue happen, hope you find a more reliable quad!

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  Рік тому

      It should be stiff as hell, your foot and a shifter can produce a lot more force than your hand and a screw driver lol mine got to the point where it didn't have enough tension for the shifter to move the shift drum so it stayed in like 2nd gear, couldn't shift up or down lol

    I just rebuild my 2005 raptor 660 and waiting on a new carb, but question if I press down the clutch, will this allow my quad to move when it's in gears?
    My quad only moves in neutral, NOT when is in gears even by pressing the clutch and friends are telling me that the clutch should allow my quad to move and that something is wrong with my clutch.

    • @jorgevirgen1660
      @jorgevirgen1660 2 роки тому

      I haven't been able to run it yet because I don't have the carb.

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 роки тому

      It'll feel stiff in gear but it should still move, you may not just have the clutch cable adjusted right since you just rebuilt the engine, I know I had to adjust mine quite far before I was able to shift into gear without it killing it

    • @jorgevirgen1660
      @jorgevirgen1660 2 роки тому

      The clutch lever moves with the slightest resistance. Yet it will not disengage the clutch even after turning the lever to its max pull.

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 роки тому +1

      @@jorgevirgen1660 The lever definitely should have some grab to it, could also be because you don't have oil in the case to allow the friction and steel plates to move and compress when needed. I know my lever just flopped back and forth when I fresh rebuilt mine, I just put the spring on the lever and then adjusted the clutch cable roughly to the manual spec and it worked fine

      Sorry for the late reply, UA-cam won't send me notifications for comments..... have you figured it out yet? After I got the forks for the drum aligned I didn't really have an issue getting it in neutral, I would double check with the manual to ensure that you have every gear in the right order, along with having the forks in the right position. Does it shift through the other gears fine?

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 роки тому +1

      Brand new cranks can have a blue mark on it since most of the time they are heated to extreme temperatures to be assembled, as long as you don't have any noticeable cracks, wear, or insane clearance between the rod and crank then it should be fine

      Hunters Mechanics well I took apart the engine (completely) everything I did was correct! My problem was the piston was hitting the head ever so slightly about another .20 thousands it would be fine. Yamaha Piston to head clearance is very tight the head was deck about. .10 - .15 thousands
      So my vibration was the new Wiseco 11.1 piston hitting the head I use cometic engine rebuild gasket kit from cometic. call them you can have any gasket built to any size you need and I got mines .20 thicker stock is .10 thousands So. 30 thousand . It's a 2001 but has the better 2nd gear so I just reassembled the engine with hot rods stage 2 cam and springs and with the 686 11.1 . Just have to figure out jetting .

      @@bobosbikes2467 When you're shifting it by hand you must be putting force towards yourself and causing it to slip off.
