Any Young person here will say dont move to Kerrville. It's a retirement city that doesn't want to add things for young people. Anytime you ask what there is to do they tell you to go to Fredricksburg or San Antonio. They took down the bowling alley, the "mall" is a joke and good luck getting decent fast food. Only thing it has going for it is its pretty, but that's what you pay ridiculous amounts of money for little shacks out here.
That's why the drug rate is as high as it is! Nothing to do for young folks other than drink or do drugs 😃 I love when people call this a caring community because all they care about is money and the other 60+ year old folks. If you're under that your opinion doesn't matter
We would stay at the HEB cabins when my wife worked for the company. We went there one year and we couldn’t find a place to eat. I walked into the Long John silvers and as soon as I walked in I heard a voice saying “ unless you are here for an interview we are closed”. I asked when they will open again and was told that they have no employees all the young people were picking up jobs and moving to San Antonio.
That’s a tough situation, especially with so many people moving to bigger cities for work. Kerrville has definitely seen its share of changes, but it’s still a place that holds onto its roots. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Well said! Kerrville really does have that unique middle ground - you can enjoy the peace of a small town without giving up all the conveniences. There’s a reason so many people find it a great balance! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
We are considering a move in the future. I'm a pretty good carpenter and don't mind working. Are there any good deals for houses that need a lot of work?
I am an 8th-generation Texan and have lived in Kerrville off-n-on since 2009. My Mom has lived here over 22-years. This is unfortunately Ryan a very sugar-coated 7 Reasons. There should be an 8th reason: Unsafe roads & highways! Simply drive on Main St/Junction Hwy for 12-36 months and you will risk vehicular and/or bodily harm 1-out-of-2 times on the roads/highways. I am not exaggerating. Kerrville has some of the RUDEST or UNSAFE drivers anywhere else for a Texas small town! I have been given the middle finger so many times here... JUST for obeying speed limits and traffic laws! I have never seen so many drivers run stop signs and red-lights here as compared to Dallas, where I grew up. In my last 2.5 years here I have been in a minimum of 4 near-wrecks! No wonder auto insurance rates here keep increasing faster than when I lived in Dallas. This is what has changed the most in Kerrville, TX the last 20-years. It is now unsafe for retirees to live here.
@@richardandlinda5309 No, but I did many times in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and Sierra Leone & Liberia, W. Africa. Hence, rural TX Hill Country drivers are equally as bad.
You sound like somebody raising cows and complaining that they don't have the advantages of a horse. If you don't like it, just leave. I've bought and sold many properties in the county. Thanks for reminding me why I don't need to do business with you.
I still live here and have zero plans or intentions in leaving. If you watched the video, you would have heard me say that these are the reason that other people have told me they are leaving… I’m not leaving! Thanks! 😊

Kerrville definitely needs more activities, especially for kiddos!

Nothing to do for young folks?? Get a job
Kerrville has a Freddy’s and three water burgers now those are all very good.
@@JWayne-ej4jy Sorry I forgot that's all there is to life out there. 🙄

Lived in Kerrville for the past 31 years, its great for kids, terrible for teenagers and a amazing place to live as an adult.
Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s always great to hear how Kerrville works for people at different stages of life.
What's with the flag at the end?
The last flag did it for me!
Is Kerville conservative? That flag at the end .

Yes but even those are expensive. Very clean town though.
