Banshee is the name of the show. It follows Antony Starr's character (whos name i forgot), who is a professional bank robber. He is released from prison and goes to the town of Banshee to find his girlfriend. When at a bar, the new sheriff of Banshee, Lucas Hood, is sitting eating dinner. Two thugs walk in and demand money from the owner of the bar. Lucas is killed and Starr, along with the bar owner, bury Lucas, and Starr takes his identity, becoming the new sheriff of Banshee. The old guy is an ex-Amish businessman who basically runs/owns Banshee. Hood and him do not always see eye to eye, but in this situation, the old Amish teacher has kidnapped a small Amish boy and murdered an English girl because they were together romantically.
Other than the fake name he has (Lucas Hood) we never learn his real name. It’s rumored to be John Smith but in season 2 ep 10 he had a different fake name under “Tom something” but went to prison before being able to use it
I'm sorry, he takes the identity of the now deceased sheriff? How the hell does that fly?
@@goodguykonrad3701-- lol, i know right? This show just worked around that big loophole.
The only thing they did was make it clear the city council didn't know what the new sheriff looked like and took the guy's word for it snd the bartender backed him up
@@goodguykonrad3701 it is a lil incredulous in the age of the internet, but back in the day it would have been plausible as no one in Banshee at the point of his death (besides the barkeep) had laid eyes on him in their lives, he was a parachute boss.

That always bugs me. It's a ranged weapon and you'll usually get a good half a second while your opponent is reaching for it.
Exactly, also the extended grip of the pistol is just Asking for it to be grabbed
Anchor point would be a better option than trying to hold it in front of you.
to be fair from what I get from other comments he is just impersonating a cop. Probably didnt know otherwise from shows or tv and you have to get close if you want to imprison a person or use cuffs.
Or its just filmes badly, I only know this show through third parties after all.

Banshee is one of the better series of the last 10 years, quite violent but it has incredible character development, and some really complex storylines, I loved it!
What can u watch it on?
I remember seeing it on Hbo but never got in to it because i felt like i was late and this was in peaks of season 2
@dillonthevillon3719 I believe it was originally on FX (can maybe watch on their website), but it may be available through other streaming services. There are some websites that host no longer aired shows for free.
In Canada it's on crave, USA it's HBO. For other countries I don't know
It's available for digital purchase on Xbox for 80 dollars

The Amish teacher plays DeWall in True Detective. Some people you’re never sure if you’ll see twice!
Proctor and Hood teaming up is literally unstoppable..
When i was in school we had to study Lord Of the Flies.
Shit book
Amish, and this guy was nuts
Same. And Animal Farm.
I don’t remember what it was exactly but this guy was a murderer or a pedo
i've basically gotten the recap from people that had to read it for school. it is somewhat interesting i think.
Dude this show is so sick I 100% recommend it. Some weird sex scenes at first but a lot of badass fight scenes. Banshee.
As weird as The Boys?
@@thomasfisher5976Not as weird as The Boys. More "human" but yeah the show included sex scenes which I think are unnecessary. Antony's character (his real name is never revealed throughout the series) is basically bad guy playing good guy playing bad guy.
@@DarkZeroHero His real name is revealed in the later seasons. It's John.
Pulls from a lot of influences, one of them definitely being Preacher. Hood & Proctor together are heavily influenced by Jesse. Proctor’s front is supplying meat, and he even names his Rottweiler “Preacher”. Burton is almost superhuman. Obviously not immortal, but he had a type of “turning” event where he seemed to get superhuman abilities in service of Kai. It’s actually much more faithful to the Preacher comic than the Preacher show was.
@@hibernopithecus7500 You do realise Preacher came years after this show ended right? I don't think the writers would have been reading the comics.
This was a great show that never really got it’s due
Banshee was the last show of its kind in many ways
One of the greatest shows ever, I recently finished it and already miss
Kai Proctor was such a badass character. He was the main bad guy but occasionally swapped sides.
He ran Banshee, which meant sometimes he and the law agreed about something needing to happen for the good of the town. It probably helped that the Sheriff was a violent psychopath himself and willing to overlook quite a lot to get the job done. Not to say they wouldn't try to kill each other from time to time.
Kai proctor is a poor guy. He got beaten by hood numerous time without knowing wtf is happening lol
Yeah, I mean, he wasn't really a regular bad guy, like, he didn't really want others to suffer or anything, he just didn't really give a shit about anyone other than himself.
one of the most underrated series ever
Sherriff hood at his best😊

I was in high school. I’d pretend to be sick so my dad and I could watch it all day 😂
Homelander backstory lol
My favorite series of all time!!! I love & miss this show. It sucks that it only went for 4 seasons. It was highly underrated, but had a huge cult following and great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Ulrich Thomsen is underrated
Supremely watchable as Kai. Turned in an all-time great bad guy performance. And always seemed truly torn trying to reconcile doing the godly thing, and being the animal god made him. Like an early version of The Operative from Serenity, except he’d come to terms with the fact that there was no place for him in the better world he wanted.
This is my favorite show. Bamshe
Definitely worth watching if you hasn’t seen it before. It deserves your full attention don’t just have it on. As back ground noise, or ill kno ! 😂
What the hell is Bamshe? Lol! Do you mean Banshee? Funny how this is your favorite show ever, and you couldn't even get the title right.😁

@@hibernopithecus7500 Icelandic, actually. The bearded bad guy is an Icelandic actor who voiced many of the Icelandic adaptations of movie characters I grew up with (disney etc).
Iceland doesn't exactly have a large cast of actors who make it big so you would see him in just about everything.
Police officers are trained to close the distance on a suspect out of arms reach if they have a firearm. And make a distance from a suspect with a bladed weapon.
He’s not a cop. He’s actually a master thief. He assumed the sheriff’s identity when the sheriff was killed by two guys shaking down a local bar owner.
Dude looks like the guy from True Detective, season 1.
Man how strong is that bearded guy? Must be some type of new Supe . Homelander actually had to try .

A firearm is a distance weapon. Don't get close. Back away or something.
I mean, they kinda have to get close though, otherwise there wouldn't be a chance for brawl scenes.

This is way more faithful to the Preacher comic than the Preacher show ever was. The writers all but admit it was one of their influences when Proctor calls his dog Preacher.

I love how cops in TV shows always stand within two feet of people when training their weapon on them to make it easy for the suspect to disarm them. I've lost count of how many times this has happened in various shows. They do know guns are ranged weapons, right?
Guys not actually a cop in the show. He’s a criminal who is impersonating one.

My least favorite thing about movies and shows is the gun etiquette. What's the point in a ranged weapon if you stick it in their face.. 😅
No cop would ever get that close to a criminal with his gun drawn bruh
Well he's not actually a cop, just posing as one.
He also kidnapped him?
Your biggest advantage with a gun is the distance between you and the other guy, now why would you want to be right next to them where they can VERY EASILY disarm you
Because it gives the author the chance to insert brawl scenes.

Yo what homelands up to
I'm sometimes offended by the portrayal of Amish communities in TV...they make them so.... rigid and controlling...They sometimes get made into a easy target due to their religious lifestyle....but as a Amish man said when i bought a $300 porch chair from him....."Evil can be anywhere... being your brothers keeper isn't just for family......
That said if i see you on my property without my permission we are gonna have some issues"
I have my bias towards them..... mostly with how they hunt and trap and making sure their traps are tagged...but they do what they do...they keep to themselves for a reason but they make sure to participate in the county they live in (County is a subsection of a state...they tend to be very local for a reason)
Leave Amish Hagrid alone...
