A huge undertaking! Well done! You have handled this with such grace and respect. Both of my parents passed away at a young age (20 ish years ago) and I still have boxes of treasures that I have not yet fully explored. I have been slowly taking photos of important items and turning special garments into boho-style, eclectic quilts... it is a long process and an emotional one. I fully intend to leave clearly itemised boxes of memorabilia for my daughter - so she can know what I considered important and meaningful.
Oh that must be even harder losing parents when they are still young! It’s so interesting hearing other people’s experiences. Thank you for your encouraging words xxx
Hello Liz, I've been working my way through your recent vlogs- thank you for sharing this experience with us, it couldn't have been easy for you. The vlogs have actually helped me process the loss of my beloved Dad too, lost to us at the start of this year due to this awful virus. I recall watching vlogs where you went on days out with your Dad, and the mutual love and respect was clear to see, may he rest in peace. Those old family photos are so precious, by the way. I can imagine how difficult it must be going through what sounds like a mountain of stuff, there's only so much you can keep hold of, so try not to feel too bad about letting go of certain things🙂
Thank you so much for filming and up loading ...what an undertaking ....think one of the hardest things to go through is cleaning out the family home .....
Thank you! Yes it was a bit harder than I thought it would be. I think particularly discovering things I hadn’t come across before and having to make quick decisions. Thank you for your support!
Loved this series Liz! Wow, you found so many treasures. Although this is such a difficult task to do you've handled it with so much grace. Really commend you for that!
Thank you for sharing this process with us. It’s been wonderful and touching to watch you take such care of your family’s property. And thank you for also sharing the parts that were difficult as well 💜 I pray you and your family are at peace with it all and are doing really well. And! Awesome job with completing VEDA!! I’ve enjoyed every vlog. I’m hoping you’ll continue vlogging!
I really love your artwork, Liz! I'm sad that I don't have any of mine from my school days. If I come across items I don't want but am reluctant to get rid of, I often take a photo of them so at least I can look back and remember. One thing we discovered after my Mum passed away was that my Dad was a member of the freemasons before he met my Mum! Why is it we find out things like this when it's too late to ask them about it?! We still have to decide what to do with items like that before we completely clear the house out! I really enjoyed your VEDA videos, btw - thanks for sharing ^_^ x
I just had a really good experience donating my Dads uniforms to the Surrey Arts costume hire department which is part of Surrey County Council. It’s much easier to part with things when you can see they will have an ongoing purpose:)
