Imagine finding some old childhood pictures you drew in your attic after decades and decades of forgetting you drew them. That's Sakaguchi-san right now. It's so wholesome and almost tear-jerking. He found those drawings again. He's enjoying every moment of it.
I am Japanese FFXIV fan and I watch his tweet everyday but I can't believe that Sakaguchi-san is 58 years old!😆 One thing , Sakaguchi-san did not say that Eiko is his waifu. He said that Eiko was named after his wife in real world! (But I know he loves Eiko in FF9 too!) Sorry for my poor English. I enjoy the video very much! Thank you!😆

Final fantasy XIV is the culmination (so far) of over 30 years of installments in a world renown franchise. I imagine Mr. Sakaguchi feels the same way a grandfather feels seeing his grandchildren graduate college and get married. I feel like I could get overwhelmed with wholesomeness. Chris Metzen and Warcraft, on the other side.... Oh boy, oh man. I can only imagine how he must be feeling right about now.
The last time we met Hildebrand he was not flying into the sky. That was the ARR quests ending. He shows up again in Heavensward and Stormblood. Shadowbringers is the only Xpac that didnt add more HIlde quests.
I'm assuming Sakaguchi haven't continued HW Hildy questlines, hence he thought Hildy's shot up to the moon. Hildy's in ShB though, he makes a cameo in Hero's Gauntlet dungeon as a summoned hero, confused about the whole ordeal
I think what he said regarding the Eiko, that she’s not his waifu (she’s 6 btw you weirdos) but she’s his literal wife. He named her after his own wife.
I had noticed the old pixel art in Matoya's Relict when the dungeon initially dropped, and it's always my favorite thing to point out to people who are new to the dungeon...next to the Y'shtola cushion off to the side.
The guy is a machine. Literally, if he start doing Savage and at the end of ShB he parse over 95 i would be surprise but at the same time i don't think i will
I am right with him in all the nostalgia. Being an older gamer I have played all the final fantasy games when they released so to me , seeing these characters is VERY nostalgic. Like a shard of a memory that not only takes me back to the game, but to that time and where I was and life memories. FFXIV has truly been a gift to play.
I had run Matoya's hundreds of times before I noticed the FF1 sprites. I am glad Sakaguchi has a good eye for the details. And I am glad he is happy with the respect the game gives to its family.
Pretty sure Sakaguchi said that Eiko was his wife's name, not that Eiko from FF9 was his waifu (in that sense). She was named after his wife when developing of FF9 was ongoing, pretty sure I saw someone mention that many years ago.
I would really like to thank Sakaguchi-san for the FF series. I mean I played almost the entire FF series (except for FFXI) and those 2D days of the FF series (FF1 to 6), FF4 and 6 was my fave.
He also did the Shadowbringer’s post game trial, and comment and posted images comparing the references to Gundam. This alone suggests he’s a Gundam fan, but maybe eventually one day if we are lucky we can get a collab with Gundam.
Following Quazii following Sakaguchi's journey = Awesome! Sakaguchi taking great gpose pics and finding even small nudges to his creation = Fantastic! Founding out that Sakaguchi was running with none other than Matsuno?!?! = HOLY SH!! xD
I only noticed those background references like a month ago when someone pointed them out in the party chat. Its the simple secret things like that that really show the passion of the team
Ty for the video, was a nice watch. If you're a fan of Melodies of Life (and would like to hear another version by a different singer) there was a performance of it at the Distant Worlds FF concert series where Susan Calloway (Answers, Dragonsong, Revolutions) sang a number of the FF vocal themes (including Eyes on Me and Kiss Me Goodbye from FF12) including a English version of Suteki da Ne from FFX which Uematsu made specifically for Susan Calloway. Thanks again for the vid l, and thank you so much for keeping us up to date with Sakaguchi-san's journey. Hope yours is going well as well. Keep safe ^^b
So incredible. Feels like everything is coming full circle. Sakaguchi's huge success with Fantasian and then him being welcomed back into the FF community officially by the people at XIV is amazing.
Sakaguchi-san is almost certain to get worlds first completion of the Endwalker MSQ seeing how he's ripped through everything else to date in such a relatively small space of time
Ah I still remember my first time doing the Alexander raids. My friend told me I'd love it since he knew how crazy I was about machines and steampunk stuff but I was skeptical as I had just recently completed Coils of Bahamut. Let's just say that after my first completion, it took my friend several minutes to persuade me to exit the duty upon completion as I was just in absolute awe with all the machinery around me. To those curious, my love of machinery began in an unexpected way, when my great grandfather who served in Korea gave me a replica of a German Panzer tank that he had, an item I still treasure to this day. Before that, I had no idea that such things existed (keep in mind I was still in elementary school at the time) so upon seeing that replica of a tank, I fell in love with technology from the World Wars which eventually branched out to planes and warships. Odd story I know, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. My great grandfather is still with us, and I thank him for introducing me to the world of military history and technology
The red mage pixel art is above the furnace on the top level. Can only be seen before or after the 3rd boss is available to fight (while the 3rd boss is alive the top level is shrouded in smoke from the furnace)
I personally didn't notice the pixel art in Matoya's Relict until I reached it in my NG+ playthrough, you can see them really well in the cutscene that plays at the beginning of the dungeon
This whole thing has been a bit surreal for me as well. I bought the first final fantasy on NES was it 1990 it came out in america? It was my first rpg of any kind and little did I know would end up being my favorite genre still to this day. It's crazy 31 years ago at only 12 or 13 I'd play the game, was likely bad at it but spent so much time playing I think the first 3 games. I can't remember if it was hard to find 4-6 but I never owned them. When 7 came out in 97 I almost played it so many times the disc (multiple of course) got wore down, I played a bit of 8 and 9 but so many games were coming out I rarely stuck with any game for long. FF10 in 2001 was the first game I remember completing after getting together with my wife, she watched me play it every night after work. I played both Kingdom Hearts 1+2 even though not a disney fan lol I only briefly played 12 due to life being busy then got into pc gaming kinda obsessed and no lifed games like WoW, Swtor, Guildwars, Neverwinter, Wildstar, even DC Universe for a time. Now I'm in FF14. I do still play GW2 and Neverwinter for their own reasons and the oddball indie mmo for however long it lasts but FF14 has just felt different. Even if I'm a anti-social dude, I don't chat or join FC's and my politeness is usually just a yo or wave in a dungeon group but I'm fully immersed in the story, content people are making for it, and seeing the original creator playing and having so much fun might be the most wholesome thing in gaming I've ever seen.
Love all your content lately! I was worried when you finished MSQ that you'd have a hard time with video ideas, but you sure proved me wrong! Going strong, and still enjoying your content :). I also see you getting more reacts from other content creators, great exposure :)
Every single bookcase on the walls at the end have the different pixelart classes. For more easter eggs in that Dungeon - there is a Y'Shtola cushion next to the main entrance. Also, Y'Shtola has some interesting dialogue for the 2nd boss.
FF9 introduced the concept of Alexander having wings. XIV's version is based on that. Furthermore, FFXIII was the first interation of Alexander having a lower half, which in turn inspired Perfect Alexander.
@@ember-evergarden These are evolutions on the same concept, though, which isn't the point I was making. Just a minor correction that Alexander in Final Fantasy games predates FFIX.

Matt Lagan, producer of and co-host with Michael Bell on Bell's Bellular Gaming UA-cam channel, recently hosted his first video on the channel exploring and speculating on how Final Fantasy IV will inspire Endwalker in Final Fantasy XIV. Matt believes - and a number others do too - that Masayoshi Soken will use Nobuo Uematsu's Theme of Love (愛のテーマ, Ai no Theme) from FF4 in a similar way he uses Uematsu's Eternal Wind (悠久の風, Yuukyuu no Kaze) from FF3 in Shadowbringers. As well as being the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi co-wrote the stories in FF3 and FF4. Eternal Wind is used by many FF14 content creators in emotional scenes in fanmade videos. Imagine what will happen if Soken uses Uematsu's Theme of Love in Endwalker?
