      Same here, bro! I have been quite pleased with the performance of my own HDR50 (the 11J version sold in Greece), which I've basically used to shoot plastic bottles of water and aluminum soda cans, but reviews such as this make me feel that the HDR68 (16J) is, indeed, on a different level of performance, which makes it ideal for the purpose of home defense as well! Well, what can I say, I just ordered one through a store in France!

      @@AirgunAlleyI just got my HDR50 and always wondered if it would lose power overtime, because I noticed the sample HDR50 at the local shop that's been fired many times by different customers seemed weak compared to my brand new one, as far as the loudness of the report, not sure about penetration, but again just seemed like a softer "pop" on the sample one. Now after more than a year of you experience, does the HDR50 lose power and how well does the build last? i.e black paint coming off, gun structure falling apart, etc..

    How do the piercing/inlet valve assemblies hold up? I've had a couple of these but the airsoft version (H8R, looks nearly identical to the HD 50) and the threaded retaining ring holding the piercing seal failed in both. Which sucks because otherwise it's a great pistol.
    The problem seems to be that the rings are made of some kind of super soft metal and deform/split. I wonder if the cartridge assembly from an HD 50 could be retrofitted into a H8R? It looks more durable 🤔

    A trick I learned that helped me control my firing was when practicing with a revolver I would leave one bullet empty or even load one spent shell so I couldn't see which one was empty. Then spin and close without looking like Russian roulette style. Then when I fired the weapon when it fell upon the spent shell the gun shouldn't move. If it pulled up then I knew it was me pulling it because the gun didn't fire. This helped me gain better control. Of course most airguns don't operate like this but there are a few with revolver type loading mechanisms. Ive only done this with .38 and .357.
    As for your silhouette shooting my first reaction to your commentary is that the gun doesn't just "go a bit high" by itself. And I don't think you hit the same holes (although, it is possible) btw, if so, the same holes were missed first shots. You should slow down, relax, control your breathing and only fire when your ready. Typically between breaths. I like to fire after exhaling b4 inhaling. Only exception is if you're laying down suppressive fire. Just a suggestion from a quick observation. Btw, thanks for covering these guns I've been wondering what advantages the 68 would have over the 50, aside from the obvious bluntness. Would like to also see this comparison pre-modifications.

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  Рік тому

      Hey man, thanks a lot for all this. One very valuable lesson!! I will be doing exactly what you said! There is so much going on when I film these videos - many don’t realize. So relaxing and controlled breathing are always the first out the window. That is indeed a crucial reminder.
      And I love the “russian roulette” technique - will apply that.
      Once again thank you, your comment is extremely helpful.
      And I always try to invite to trust the footage I show - more than the words I say. I don’t always have the chance to rewatch what I film, before commenting on it - so a lot of thing get missed on the spot. Hope that makes sense…
      Thanks again

They are very good better accuracy more speed and hit hard plus they fit nice and tight in the clip and in the hds . Hit alot harder then the hds in the HDR would recommend but you have loads of ammo about the same . Been looking at them bore sights for my guns as well have you tried putting Plummers tape round bores to fit the HDR 68 .keep up the good work mate

    I think you might be misunderstanding the difference between the regular rubber steel balls and the S-Type. The regular ones do not have an extra sprinkling of metal on the surface. It's more like the other way around. Both are made of steel powder mixed with a synthetic rubber compound. The only difference is that the S type has an extra coating of rubber around them so that there is less friction moving down the barrel. The metal you see is not on the surface, it is what they both look like all the way through. I think if you cut both of them in half you would see that. I could be wrong but this is to the best of my knowledge.

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  Рік тому +1

      From the maker:
      There is almost no difference between the weight of Regular and S-Type products. But on one side, the surface of the regular rounds are mixed with some extra metal dust after the production - our customers usually like this shape and the feeling of touching them. On the other side, S-Type balls are produced with a special Italian mould and even though there is not a steel core, the steel amount increases direction to the center of the balls. These are not mixed with extra metal dust, in this way, the balls slide better with the rubbery surface.

    • @techromancerzero2709

      @@AirgunAlley I guess I was right about the lower friction, but I was wrong about everything else. I stand humbly corrected.
      Interesting that the density of steel increases towards the centre.

It is not necessarily about the hardness of the two shells being different as I agree the “ hardness” of the two is probably similar. Provided of course one is not green and the other is ancient and ready to crack. No, the difference lies in the fact that the larger coconut has greater surface area in terms of diameter, or inches that make it weaker and more vulnerable to crack that a smaller more compact, hence stronger surface area.
