This one will have a couple posts 16’ from each end. I talked to my engineer and he’d probably approve it for free span depending on location (snow load).
This is for their open porch area that extends off the back of the structure. Since it is open and exposed they decided to go with a large timber truss instead of the standard truss.
Great thing about UA-cam is you can compare a lot of others doing the same thing but others might be better than you. Good job but you are not on the same level as some timber frame craftsmen like The Beam Guy who not only lumbers, mills & creates wood jointerny in his heavy timber designs. No craftsmanship shown other than cutting wood!!! Not even a true truss design.
Absolutely! That's the great thing about UA-cam. I don't consider myself a timber frame craftsman or professional. The goal of my channel is to educate and equip other DIYers when it comes to building post frame structures. I priced this out and two timber companies wanted $15-20K to construct. I'm going to build it for roughly 1/3 of that price. Thanks, Dennis!
Great job love your videos paul from Ireland i have been watching you for years now
Awesome! Thank you!
Looks great, my man! Love your attention to the details! Keep it up!
Thanks
Holy Smoke! What kind of Cathedraldominium ya got going on here dude? I love it!!
Ha...thanks! Can't wait until we get to erect this structure.
Nice job brother 👍
Thanks 👍
Wonderful video I have been waiting on a video like this. Thank you.
Awesome...hopefully helpful
Massive, great job!
Thanks
That telescoping JCB is as handy as a pocket on a tee shirt. 👍
Absolutely love it...no regrets on that purchase
Awesome job looks great! I was worried about making 20 foot span lol
So this truss you have built can span , end to end 48’ with no middle posts ?

That’s a well built truss then … do you have a video of the metal plates attached and in place ?
@joemanflyer2001 we will…they are currently being manufactured
Are the structural screws enough to hold it together or are the metal connectors needed?
This is why boat builders have been using lofting floors for thousands of years. Of course, now they use full size prints. But it came out very nice.
Interesting...thanks for sharing
Install ever happen? Connector plates video?
Still waiting on county permits! I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll get to put it up!
Why only one truss?
for a porch area, assuming the visible front one

From the sound of it, you needed a new blade.
