This is so eye-opening. Growing up having none of the 4 s's created so many internal issues (not my mothers fault though and definitely my responsibility now at over 50). I know, having my own issues meant my own parenting style was filled with mistakes and missteps. 6 years ago I began therapy and started to unpack. It was truly shocking. I read and watched everything I could as I have started to write my own book. Seeing the child in front of you as they are,, instead of how you want them to be, then responding to that moment is invaluable. I used to do this with my granddaughter. Tantrums were few and over quickly with no bad feelings between us. Attuning to her was natural. Everything you tallk about makes sense. Mistakes will still happen but repair is so important. I was talking with a friend and we believe that every parent, grandparent, parent-to-be would benefit from watching your videos and reading your books. I was brought up in the authoritarian fear filled home and my book is called "Home is where the harm is" (I haven't thought of a subtitle yet). Keep getting the word out Tina. Things need to change and I believe school, nursery, college staff need to be taught this too. Empathy is key.

Eventhouhg we got it or not from our parents, it is important to forgive, and move on, because our kids need us.
