I love how this song is so dark and edgy at first, then there's that little bit of heroic trumpet in there. He really believes he's the savior in all of this.
Man, the guy's like a storm! and he's coming right at Clive! ....It's almost like he's APPROACHING him! This storm that's heading towards Clive! ....if only there was a way to phrase that better :I
I like how there are several callbacks to the original Norse mythology in this song. The twain (Archaic word for two) On 10 feet run (Sleipnir has 8 feet and Odin has 2, obviously) Three eyes and one trained upon victory (Sleipnir's 2 and Odin's 1, and Odin is also-among other things- the Norse God of Victory) Foreseen (He sacrificed one of his eyes for the power to see the future) With steel (God of Battle) Darkness comes (He decides when it's your turn to either join him in the Hall of Valor or be cast down to Helheim, a realm of eternal frost & darkness.)
Without any context, the music at 1:30 alongside those visuals of this great infernal beast diving to take hold of a falling knight would have most people completely incorrect on who the villian is here. Especially in FF given the previous game's role for Ifrit
Lol theres also the tendency of japan that loves giving darkness/devil related powers to the MCs either in animes or games which also boosts what you're saying
I was going to BEAT HIS ASS INTO THE GROUND if he killed my dog. Same reaction I had when Benedikta kicked him in the middle of her fight. NO ONE FUCKS WITH MY BOY
Cloud and Sephiroth aren't rivals tho They just hate each other Sephiroth only had one actual rival from crisis core and it was Genesis Clive and Barnabas are rushed rivals
@@S1EEPLES5I think Hugo is built up as more of a rival to Clive story wise. Barnabas is just set to be an obstacle for him to overcome to face ultima, but Hugo is a way more personal fight to him.
I love how the opening sounds like Cecil's Red Wings from FFIV but instead of being reflective and melancholy it repeats the same notes unflinchingly until the next mad section begins. Cecil was a Dark Knight who still had his humanity. Barnabas is fully resolute and will never change his path.
This shit was so bonkers the second time around on final fantasy mode, the entire Odin run is just so well done I didn't appreciate it the first time around because it was so easy but that second time WHEW SO MUCH FIGHTING ALL OF THE FIGHTING THE FIGHTING JUST NEVER ENDS IT IS BY FAR THE MOST EXHAUSTING PORTION IN A GOOD WAY the game really prepares you for it, it's cool lore wise too since you basically take on the army yourself (with Joshua) similar to what Odin did when he first took ash I just appreciate it the more I dig into it, this game still got me fucked up lol
Same for me. I remember being upset I didn’t get to do a full eikon battle against Odin, but when I got to the arc on FF mode, I appreciated it so much more.

This song was way more badass than i expected it to be, especially considering the difficulty increase here since odin was actually a tough fight, which i greatly appreciate
I think the word “train” shud be “tail”. The name of the song and the lyrics come from Saga of Hervor and Heidrek in which Odin asked Heidrek to solve the riddles. One of them was “Who are the two who have ten feet, three eyes, and one tail?” The answer is Odin himself riding Sleipnir - 8-legged horse. Odin has one eye + 2 of the horses so that “3 eyes.”
While this is true “tail upon victory” doesn’t really make sense. Neither does the “three eyes and one” line I suppose, but that’s what happens when you can’t fit a word in without breaking the flow of the lyrics.
@@Timebomb_19 definitely not “upon victory” either though, the word in between tail and victory is something i cannot make out. Also, with an exception of the first time, i definitely heard Darkness casts - not darkness comes - the s and t sound at the end are pretty clear. Just need to wait until official lyrics come I guess.
@@FurryWulfz I know that, but “and one” has no context, when it specifically refers to his tail in the original text. If you read it as “and one, trained upon victory” then I guess, but it doesn’t sound like that to me during the lyrics context.
4:55 Did his eikon go akashic at the end of his attack? I noticed that his eikonic form was fading fast near the end but wow that's kinda scary if it's true
Thats basically how Barnabas was able to use Odin with 0 side effects during most of his life. At some point he himself turned akashic but was able to keep control of his body bc of his powers.

Hard disagree. Being locked into playing as a slow behemoth fighting damage sponges got old insanely fast. I didn't even like it when fighting Titan Lost.
@@algorometrikus9380since he can summon multiple egi’s with ease, I’d say it shouldn’t be tough for Odin to do 2 judgement cuts, one from each sword. He never goes all out in this fight since his purpose was to intentionally give his power to Mewthos.
God, what a waste of an awesome character. Halbard too. When you first see that meeting between Dhalmekia and the Kingdom of Waleod just after Kupka faces off with Jill, it's so exciting for the intrigue ahead only for Ultima to stink up the joint.
The reason they didn’t make full Ifrit vs Odin is because nothing survives from Zatetsuken by full prime Odin and it wouldn’t be feasible to make a fight that you get killed by a single hit

Odin has an amazing theme. Glad he’s got the Vergil treatment for the eikons.
It’s really awesome how the beginning is the same leitmotif as ultimas. Really shows how much of a worshipper he is and how he is a soldier for ultima
