This is really wonderful to show those just starting out or those who don't have a lot of money to not be discouraged or think they need expensive gear
When I first began prepping, I made our packs from Dollar Tree.. They have some great items, no need to go expensive for short term survival. We used our DT bags 3 times in evacuations. I did add mini sawyer water filters for each bag. If we got separated each of us could safely drink mountain water. We live in the forest so depending on one's area, I would suggest Dollar Tree's Tool Bench 4x6 blue tarp... pack 2 tarps /bag + their leaf trash or heavy trash bags to fill with leaves to sleep on if no adequate shelter available. Tool Bench 40ft diamond braided rope or TB 25 ft paracord , can make a ridge line for the tarp etc.. Tool Bench safety glasses or goggles. Tool Bench 5 pack bungee cords. TB disposable masks (protect from smoke etc.) There's much more DT has to offer to make a decent bag, these are just some of the items we actually used when we had to bug out. Prepare and stay safe everyone. 😊
great kit. the little scissors maybe for cutting thread. maybe ad a needle and thread in the kits not just for if u tear ur clothes but emergency skin stitch.
Very helpful and great ideas! Girl, you cracked me up when you had the net over your head and also when you said you can play dress up in the woods (with the pantyhose). I love your humor! I follow a lot of preppers, but you and Homestead Corner are my two favorites. I love it when you upload a new video. Keep doing what you do 😊
For Dollar Tree items, that was a pretty good bugout bag haul. For my bugout bag, I would get water, food, hygiene, medicines, first aid stuff, some entertainment items, etc., at Dollar Tree. There are things I won't get at Dollar Tree. Like you said, the knife and other items we should invest in more quality items.

I would use the tin foil use as a make shift solor oven.I have the shower curtain liner in each go back to make a shelter and have tea light candles in a medicine bottle along with a few matches and strik e plate from empty boxes of matches also you could dip cotton rounds in wax as a fire starters. Old medicine bottles work great to keep things safe and dry and they float

Add 2 large rubber bands to go over shoes and around pant leg bottoms. And at least a piece of rope for a belt. To keep those bugs out. Also a small hairbrush and ponytail holders.
lots of good ideas 👍 also helping to remind stuff i ran low on. my backpack has not been updated lately. my gloves are very used need replacing lol. what i used to start fires in damp or rain was sterno gel from those sterno cans it burns good to start damp wood. just store in a ziplock bag might leak.. i like the long lighters. baby wipes & zip lock bags i used most. paper towels too. plus walmart bags the plastic ones are free 👍
The net bag could also be a refrigerator system. Put items in and drop in an area where you are getting water to filter. The water should keep it cold or cool. Another option would be a sling if you have a arm injury. Use a cord or even bungee cord ( from the dollar tree) hook on either end and rest arm in( maybe cut end? Put cord around neck. This was awesome. I love the grey woman concept because mine is obviously a bug out bag!
I have a knee brace, ankle brace, Neosporin, heavy duty garbage bag, jar of honey roasted peanuts for protein, extra shirt and socks, handkerchiefs, two bottles waters, life straw drink bottle, sawer water filters, foldable reading. glasses,, some cash, solar radio which can charge a cell phone and pain relievers
Hi Sunshine! Okay, you got me thinking!!! This is why I love, love, love your video's! Multi vitamins very important. Small bottles of wine? A plastic folding cup and small paper plates, small bag of plastic utensils, bandaids, small pepto-bismol or the tablets, hand lotion, neosporin, coloring book and crayons just for fun. Love the small mesh bags. In a pinch, the pair of pencils could be used as chop sticks. Small salt and pepper things, and sugar packets. The tea lights are perfect. Going to my $Tree tomorrow and fill in based on your suggestions! Thanks!
@@sunshinestatesurvival got a good part done. also making room for more 55gallon water drums. we have 2 rooms really not being used. really mostly bins of all the work i do appliance parts plumbing electrical hvac.. but in shtf water matters most 👍
If you watch for the medicated lip balm, it usually has an SPF rating, and though not great sunscreen, can protect your ears, cheeks and nose from sun burning. Did a lot of Dollar Tree first aid kits and grub stakes with my Boy Scout Troop. I used to give each patrol $20 to buy their groceries for a weekend outing, to teach them how to budget.
My additions would be cup of soup packet and tea bags individually wrapped. And for medical would be allergy med. Ive never had allergies and last year I swelled up so bad and I couldn't breath. I ran to my everything bag and sure as **** I found Claritin from the dollarstore that I had bought and had instant relief. I thought I was having a reaction to beer but it was the pollen that was on my deck. I've since went to Costco and stacked allergy medicine lol. I like your idea of the toiletries bag. I am going to keep an eye out for those. Keep gathering even if u don't think u will need something. It might just save u someday xx
Pads and tampons are also good for wounds. Shower curtains, tarps, and garbages bags for shelter. The small peanut butter cups and my DT have individual bottles of Boost. The bottle would be good for other things. And to keep in the vehicle but light enough they could be carried or attached to the bag and have multiple uses are the sun windshield covers and the cooler bags. Now is a good time to look at the garden area. The small tools like the spade and clippers. And the open top watering can is perfect as an urinal. Anti diarrhea meds. Sometimes they have the flashlights that you squeeze and don't have to worry about batteries. Also headlamps. Also a poncho, baby blankets and pillows cases.
That zippered bag is also good for a change of clothes, like a compression cube type of thing. Throw in a large zip lock bag for dirty clothes when swapping out for the clean ones
Well thought out choices! I think I’d include a DT container of petroleum jelly (no name Vaseline) because it is a great fire starter, will go further than the chapstick. Also is a good skin protectant, my skin is really dry.
Love all the ideas, a shower curtain may be a little thicker for shelter, cover, etc. and make sure you check in the craft area for the jute twine they have it there and in the gardening section.
Great video! Coffee filters maybe a good addition to your pantyhose.. so many uses for filters and a really lightweight item. I am definitely adding those poop bags to mine!
@Sunshine State Survival they will do that to you. I am 22years older then my youngest brother he is in his teens now. I am only cool because of my 🔫 property and dirt bikes. My son is almost 5.... I'm not looking forward to that time frame
@Ashlyn Nelson I was always the big sister in my family, so I feel like I was kind of thought I was cool, (maybe that was in my own mind). But nothing could have prepared me for a teen boy lol. I love him like my little baby, even though he's trying to become his own person/ man, lol.
@@sunshinestatesurvival You’re definitely a cool mom. Your son may not realize it until he has kids of his own and then he’ll be a cool dad because of you.
Had a knife just like that as a EDC pocket clip-on and it lasted me for a couple years. I think I paid about $7 for it. The flashlight looked good for being a dollar store light. Some great ideas for a budget BOB. 👍
the pencil sharpener is perfect to help keep those shavings in that compartment if its windy.. :-) i like that ... and u could undo it and use that small blade to gut fish ... lol
Celebrity Luncheon Loaf made in Denmark. Protein packaged very good utilizing an attached key to open it (vs pull-top which is a liability) I keep a couple cans in my bag.
Thanks for this video it is very helpful. I am going to make sure my 17 year old daughter and 20 year old son has one in their vehicles. I have one made up that my husband and I share. I like some of these ideas I hadn't thought of like the pencils and sharpener. I will be doing that one for sure. I will also rewatch this video to make sure I don't forget anything. Thanks again. 😊
You should also add a needle & thread , some cloves for numbing or clove oil , a small bottle of alcohol & any meds the person is on. Also, some jewelry wire for example, for making a snare to trap food & a fishing hook & fishing string etc.
From another great channel here on UA-cam Ranger survival and field craft "Always have a knife a way to start a fire and a snack in your pocket" Just like your budget kit presentation Good advice. Thanks
Very informative tyvm. Also I'd had a pretty yucky day...and I actually laughed out loud when you suggested to play dress up out in the woods 🤣. Ty girl been with you a while now. Love the cooking with prep's videos too. Keep up the good work 🙂
Great video. We packed get home bags and included stuff from around the house. We packed a couple of days of our medications, sewing kit, lighters and hot hands. Thanks for the great ideas.
Loved this video. I need to put something together. At the least get some of the first aid and foods to put in a bag and water. God bless you and your son.
Great video, may I add that shower curtain is great temp shelter and it has holes already to tie off to a branch, alcohol wipes, a puzzle or crossword to keep you entertained, can opener or even a military P38, but I have used a knife in a pinch, couple of handkerchiefs can use around your neck to keep sun and bugs off, also a makeshift mask, a hat to keep the sun off your face, Happy Bug Out everyone!
Some sports tape, not just for injuries but also to keep stuff together. Bar of soap not just for body care also for washing your socks. Some pepto tabs if you can find them too
I am old and live in hot Florida, we live in a rural area, so not bugging out LOL I keep a small cooler in my car that I throw bottle water and snack crackers in, when I go somewhere. I can't keep food and water in my car permanently as it gets too hot. I do keep a toolbox jumper cables, and first aid items in there. But those are good ideas for those on the run.
I understand and honestly bugging out is the last thing I would want to do, but to have the stuff in my vehicle just in case, at least makes me feel better. I've had so many instances where somebody had something go wrong and I was like, oh I have something in my car that can help with that!
I love the Dollar Tree for preps & pantry! Your idea for the large can of Vienna bites is perfect! And the expandable washcloth both so clever! Thank you for sharing! I'll definitely be adding those to my bags!
My hearing is horrible today, Sunshine, so you might have said this and I just didn't hear you. If you think you're going to be walking a lot, you should include sunscreen. Great ideas! DT comes through again.
I hate to say this, but you might throw in a neck gater or some type of mask in case of things in the air you don’t want to breathe in! (That’s the only reason I would wear one anymore). And the charger brick. The rest looks really great. I need to update mine for the changing weather. Arkansas is a wee bit colder than Florida right now!
I watched a bunch of your videos yesterday. Trying to catch up. ..lol It does my heart good to see young people doing the things! Great ideas! Dollar Tree is where I started and still find myself in there a LOT! Next time you're in there check for bungee cords and carabiner clips 😉
Even though I don't need to build a budget bug out bag, I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate all the thought and effort that went into your budget bug out bag. Great ideas! Dental floss might be a nice addition - not only for your teeth but to use as a string.
Nicely done. Truelly enjoyed your version of the dollar 🌲 preparation bag. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this will help someone getting started on prepping.
I took my jr. high aged granddaughter to DT...we made a bug out bag out of one of her old school backpacks. We got lucky, they had small sewing kits, first aid kits, and ponchos that day. Needles and pins are an absolute must.!
So I'm wondering what type of party has a black table clothe?? I actually bought 12 huge vinyl table clothes with the felt backing for 99 cents each on clearance at Walmart a year ago. Thinking window blackout or I don't know.. but was such a good deal.. They are in my preps.. On vacations I would always buy a pack of souvenir cards now I have them in my medical bins, bug out bags, everywhere.. Who knows barter..
Sunshine.... Darlin.... Esculent, excellent!! Your ideas are terrific, but lack practical application. Before the SHTF, take your sweet self and your hubby and/or kids and try spending a night out with your kit. Even if it's only in your backyard. If you are expecting to encounter scarious, life and death problems along the way, you need to upgrade your kit... easy to do on UA-cam or Prepper channels. You're off to a good start, but you have aways to go. Keep at it and may God bless you. Ax
Very nice. My 🎒 has a plastic hooded rain coat, flannel blankets [freebies from work] bungee cords & belt, a tarp. Dry or wet, 👍. Layers really work. A pair of walking shoes, socks , and a jacket. And a 1st aid bag, because we stopped for a traffic accident few years ago, and all I had was a blanket, and keeping the victim quiet while waiting for ambulance. Amazon has wallet size First Aid pamphlet & Emergency/Survival guide. Also ordered a nice big one for home 1st aid kit which I have been building. Temu app has a LOT of stuff for 1st aid, Emergency SHTF, etc. Check your local charity shops for bags, containers, equipment, books.
This is Full of some really good items! I've used foil to put on the wet ground so I could start a fire. It can also be used as a wind block for the fire. Great thinking outside of the box! Take care, stay healthy!
Most imaginative and creative Dollar Store bug out shopping trip I've seen.

Maybe garbage bags, not just for garbage but a large one you could make a poncho. You did an awesome job!! Thanks for Sharing and God Bless You!!
A woman could carry that into work & no one would ever know, she was ready to go. TAKE CARE..
FABULOUS video... mosquito net is brilliant. 🤠🤠🤠

Lol
Get a dish towel at the $ tree too. Good for cleaning up or wiping sweat. Add nutritional bars.
You can use tampons and female pads to help bleeding, I have seen a person actually use a tampon to put in a open wound
Zip ties--“awesome and fun”……couldn’t of said it better!!! Lol👍👍
Great ideas, I'd add a shower curtain for a tarp from DOLLAR TREE.

Some sports tape, not just for injuries but also to keep stuff together. Bar of soap not just for body care also for washing your socks. Some pepto tabs if you can find them too
I keep my bag inside the grocery insulated bags in the car. I think it would draw less attention since I have more than one in there.
Great finds Sunshine.
Your ears are just fine :)No I didn't mention it, but definitely a great suggestion¡
Funny, I bought that little camouflage bag from the dollar store for my hygiene items in my main bug out bag. You have good taste.
Great job explaining what everything was for.
Check to see if your armor bites are on the recall list there’s been a lot of recalls for them, but that name brand
I watched a bunch of your videos yesterday. Trying to catch up. ..lol It does my heart good to see young people doing the things! Great ideas! Dollar Tree is where I started and still find myself in there a LOT! Next time you're in there check for bungee cords and carabiner clips 😉
Bungee cords! Great suggestion. And thanks for binge watching my videos lol.
I never considered putting a charger & cable in my GHB/BOB. Nor did I think about using panty hose as a pre-filter. Thanks for the tips!
Even though I don't need to build a budget bug out bag, I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate all the thought and effort that went into your budget bug out bag. Great ideas! Dental floss might be a nice addition - not only for your teeth but to use as a string.
The shower curtains or liners are great for shelter and protection too
Nicely done. Truelly enjoyed your version of the dollar 🌲 preparation bag. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this will help someone getting started on prepping.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
I took my jr. high aged granddaughter to DT...we made a bug out bag out of one of her old school backpacks. We got lucky, they had small sewing kits, first aid kits, and ponchos that day. Needles and pins are an absolute must.!
Good job
Awesome! Very creative and well thought out.
Good ideas! You are always thinking.
it’s a great kit! Since your in Fl you may want to add sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen for the upcoming season. And maybe hair bands or a scrunchi
Hair bands for sure!! Can't go without them
@@sunshinestatesurvival same
Got to watch out for them Bill Gates mosquitoes, Let a ton out in Florida..
Yeah those GMO skeeters will eat you alive!
"Over the hill" parties often have a black table cloth. Usually 40th birthday, I believe.
Some really good ideas here!!
Excellent ideas, well put together!
Awesome thank you for sharing. Very good ideas 🥰
You could also seal those pencils in wax. For waterproofing
This is Full of some really good items! I've used foil to put on the wet ground so I could start a fire. It can also be used as a wind block for the fire. Great thinking outside of the box! Take care, stay healthy!
Great ideas & very ingenious! Thanks for sharing your items, very helpful.🌞
