The grating is pure gold. I must’ve looked over them a hundred times. I guess I’ll take back the shopping cart that I was going to cut up for cooking grates. J/K! 😂
Some things I've gotten from the dollar stores, simply for bartering include: -small personal hygiene kits (nail clippers, tweezers etc) -personal sewing kits -candy -books & travel size games -coloring books and markers for the kids -foil, cling wrap, wax paper -plastic food containers or Tupperware -tools (usually more options at DG) -notebooks, pens, pencils etc -phone charger cables -individual use coffee packets -clothing (usually at DG) -rope or cheap cordage
For a DIY project, those "broken" solar lights do have a solar cell on the tops of them. You can link them together with a much bigger and stronger battery for a power source.
I built a barter box with Dollar Store stuff. If I need to help someone or trade, they never see my full preps and I'm not depleting my personal supply.
There is no problem with dollar store supplies. Just get the things you need now or over a short period of time . ( Gradually ) Get a quality storage tote or backpack or duffle bag to keep everything organized and easy to transport. Fill up a few of these kits and spread the out over a few different locations easily accessible to you in a pinch, just incase FEMA decides to confiscate your supplies. That way you have extras for yourself for an extended period or some the give out to your unprepared family or neighbors.
The dollar tree first aid supplies are ouchy boo-boo kit for sure. Minor inconvenience issues but for sure need a couple really good kits put back for long term
I agree Dollar Store items are poor quality items. However, I will purchase those same items, tuffer quality products at the bigger brand/contractor supply/camper stores. Thank you.

Dollar Tree items are great to stock pile some items like the batteries, flash lights, matches .... for bartering items.

Always have a couple extra can openers , kitchen scissors too
..matches, 👍..
They have the long candle/barbeque lighters for $1.25 where everyone else wants $3 or 4 dollars for them!😲😲
If you can get lucky enough to catch the
Wound Kit box when they get them in, those are an excellent deal for 1.25.
They do have heirloom seeds at our DT

Some of the canned goods are actually higher than Walmart store brands!😲
Spices too
Well done. Agree with what you have said here. I use that stuff to throw into various bags. When it ages out I toss it. No big money.
