I still watch this nightly on Hulu and I wish Delta could know that watching designing women helps me with my severe anxiety that worsens at night.
Yes! Mine Too! I Leave It On As I Need Noise.
Proud To Be A Strong Crazy Woman From The South!
@@sugarmagnolia876I think that after she left the show wasn't as great.
There making light of it all it was VERY serious back then. Lots of trouble, lots of problems. Delta and Dixie didn't talk for almost 10 YEARS.
It’s amazing how differently people talk about mental illness now than when this aired. They meant well, but we have definitely evolved.
Loved this show even in 2020!
I’m still watching it in 2021 and I will still be watching it in 2022!! One of my all-time favorite shows. My grandmother loved all the shows I grew up watching them. Every time I watch it it makes me feel like she’s here with me.. I love you Nanny ❤️ and I miss you so much…

There were so many wonderful episodes. I loved this show! The network wanted to cancel it, but Delta Burke started a grassroots letter writing fan movement and it worked. I believe it was after the first episode or maybe it was during the first season. Anyway Delta Burke was what kept it on the air.
Amen to that.. That is a very true story. If Delta Burke had not started that they would have canceled the show. Completely. But it was only after the first episode was Re-aired a couple months later that it was one of the biggest hits they ever had. Designing women with a very amazing show. And it had a very big hit when it was re-aired a couple months later. ❤️
Omg the chemistry between all of them is beautiful.

The "Supremes episode" was called "The Rowdy Girls". One of my favorites from the show...
Because I'm OCD, it's always bothered me that they chose "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" as the song, because that wasn't a Supremes song. It was a Diana Ross song, right after she left the group.
@@mrsj1417 ~ Actually, Diana Ross & The Supremes recorded it with The Temptations in 1968. Then Ashford and Simpson (writers of the track), persuaded Diana Ross to re-record it in 1970 as a solo artist.
Of course the first original recording came from Tammy Terrell and Marvin Gaye.
Dusty Springfield wanted it, but A&S didn't give it to her, because they thought the song would be their way in on the Motown label...
@@mrsj1417 This song was originated by Marvin Gay & Tammi Terrell in 1967...both versions were written by Ashford & Simpson.....the 1967 version peeked at #19.....Diana's version was Diana's 1st solo #1.....The story behind Diana's version is prior to hearing the mastered version Berry had serious reservations b/c he believed the spoken words by Diana wld kill the entire song....a they moved ahead with this as the song esp since the Supremes had plenty of hit songs to choose from vs going with a non-supremes song or misleading the viewer...
@@Deborahtunes The version heard here is misleading b/c it is the re-written version recorded by Diana as a solo vs the version released by the Surpremes and Temptations.
@@hardren101 ~ But that wasn't my point. Both The Supremes and Diana Ross recorded it. That's all I was saying...
The look on Julia,s face was priceless lol
part 7??? :'(
Not comparing the 2 series BUT I feel like DW & The Golden Girls tackled such hot...taboo...controversial..untiuched (for the era) topics...
Spousal Abuse
Crossdressing
Aids
Homophobia
Body Shaming
Sexual Harrassment
Rascism and so much more!!!
I grew up watching these shows on I forget which channel but they always aired DW and GG back to back. Comedic gold and, yes, both tackled such important issues. Quite impressive when you consider neither GA nor FL are known for being so progressive right now but back then these shows demonstrated how kind, sensitive, and understanding and accepting that southern women could be. Excellent life lessons were taught. And the friendships and loyalty was amazing to see. No cancel culture either, except Julia’s whip tongue retorts!
US route 41links them..
Those DW $ sending so many to Harvard, Yale etc. we're tremendous. I never knew.
"I don't give a damn if you're a california raisin" 😂😂😂 I love shows like designing women because they didn't give about idiotic people's sensitive ass feelings they did what truly mattered, the only thing that mattered and that's make a good show.
Lmfao 🤣 😆 One of my favorite lines of the entire show…
My mom and her sisters acted just like them.
I bet you laugh all the time......I can only imagine how you guys would crack up at their shenanigan's.
Please upload the rest!
You can find the full version episode on Dailymottion.com S4/E6 "The Rowdy Girls".......
Cannot believe i missed this when it aired! Delta looked like she had work done here ..and maybe on her eyes!? She didn't need that at all! She was also missing her beautiful signature trademark smokey cateye makeup. Anyway she's still one of the most beautiful women in show business. LOVE THIS SHOW AND ALL THESE WOMEN! And Meshack! classic show that will never be duplicated! RIP DIXIE AND MESHACK!😪📺🥀🌹💖🤩😍🎵🎶💜😃
I would like to have this on dvd
Where 's the rest ?
Mt favorite
That was so Suzanne. Sometimes she meeded to be slapped or smdh.
I wonder if they ever got hate mail for the blackface incident
I dont like that they are making fun of her. Specifically annie smh.
If one were to parallel the characters to the boys of South Park, Suzanne would be Cartman
the Supremes episode was PERFECT....no political correctness. The acting , and performance were Brilliant. There was NO MALICIOUS intent about this scene. It was done with perfect taste
The pretty lol
Taking part in black face was her favorite episode.... Okay
A.J........The fact that her “character” was so clueless/innocent is what made the episode so brilliant/ funny
I'm black and find it hilarious because it wasn't done with malice or hate but out of the character's cluelessness and innocence. No need for your white guilt, black people are smart enough to get the joke and irony, thank you very much.
@@kendallrivers1119 yea im not stupid enough to believe some white person hiding behind some alt account with no photos that there black.... Plus i see u threw your devices camera lol nice try
It was so in line with her character and the show was poking fun at her ridiculousness. What grounded the episode was that, in typical Suzanne fashion, she ignored the common sense advice the other ladies gave her and went over the top. I thought it was funny!
@@jazzymoni7750 you cant pic and choose whats okay black face its ether all or non otherwise all blacks and librals look like hypocrite s and it just shows how blm and atifa are a joke and domestic terrorist groups
I know that this was a long time ago, but Annie Potts was a little mean.
Yeah, she didn't really seem compassionate about Delta Burke's troubles.
Not that black face come on now
They made fun of Suzanne being over the top.
The black face episode was hysterical but shady n inappropriate n disrespectful....Personally i do not see the big deal in white person black face or vice/vers.....what i find highly disrespectful is the supremes are the most successful black girl grp of the 60's whose popularity rivaled the Beatles as they had MANY popular #1 hits .....Y the fuck wld u choose a song that was a Diana ross #1 song...very disrespectful 2 the supremes.
I hate when ppl use Blackface. I couldn’t imagine painting my face White. It’s not funny. We aren’t costumes, you know? We are human beings.
I have to agree w/the choice of group and song too. You’re absolutely right. That song is “The Supremes.” It’s essentially and uniquely them.
@@rhodesfamily2008 that song was used because it suited the plotline(s) - they had a girlfriend who was being beaten by her husband. She attended the show they put on and the song was and the ladies were supportive of her. I agree on the blackface, but understand why they had Suzanne wear it and the other 3 not. The point was Suzanne was always either innocent/ignorant or oblivious as to her own behavior and how it effected others. She was selfish. So, I think pointing out that she should NOT be wearing it and Julia didn’t want her to join them was appropriate, especially back then. They shined a light on racial intolerance by using Suzanne’s crass and oblivious character. She loved Anthony on the show, but was blissfully ignorant of her own racist comments, which h3 would point out to her.
@@MrBuddybones Exactly, that was the whole reason for the blackface subplot. It was commentary and supports the previous posts as to why it's wrong.
Stop in the name of love.. The Supremes recorded "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in 1968, 1 year after Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's original version. In 1970 Diana Ross re-recorded the song when she debut solo. They did in fact use the 1968 Diana Ross & the Supremes version in this clip. Still "Baby Love" might have been better! 😜
