I don't know why this got canceled, it's hilarious!! I love this show and Delta Burke. People have no taste these days, which is blatantly obvious with how long The Kardashians have been on. TV, for the most part, has gone to H E L L!! I'm so glad we have UA-cam to watch wonderful shows like this. I watch them all the time. Thanks so much for posting!
this was well written (witty) and hilarious. the chemistry btwn the ladies is particularly wonderful (especially Teri Garr and Patricia Heaton). i miss television like this....
Harry and Linda made a mistake. Anyone who knows the Sugarbakers knows that they only had one brother, Clayton, a half brother. Suzanne also had no children.
Oh, the daughter is adopted. I can roll with that. Plausible. A never-before-mentioned special needs brother? Unlikely - especially as there is a very memorable scene in DESIGNING WOMEN where Julia Sugarbaker says they're proud of their crazy people in the South and "bring 'em right down to the living room to show them off". 😆
I have always said that Delta Burke is absolutely the most beautiful woman in Hollywood and I absolutely mean every word of it!!!! She is sooooo stunning!!!!!
The writing for this show was spectacular. It ranged all over the place . From funny to politically incorrect. I could see how someone in the East may have thought this program was embarrassing for congress and the state she represented. I think the problem for this show was that it didn’t have a Murphy Brown type character. She was smart and let it show. Remember when she decided to have a child and not get married. Remember when the V.P. Dan Quayle put in his moral criticism. It divided the country. We all held our collective breaths until the next episode. Then right at the end of their programs news cast, she stood up and told this country what she thought of his remarks and all the other thousands of people who wrote in their opinions on her life choices. Remember that while Murphy Brown is a fictitious character, and her program was right up there in popularity, Candice Bergman who played her was an out spoken real life person. She said what she thought and we all cheered. The U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights do matter in every way and everyday. There’s too much comedy and Suzanne just doesn’t have the political know how to not get hurt.
I've not seen this in years, but I'm enjoying it. The first scene is a little strange - almost like it was filmed live, partially ad libbed, & unedited (I know it wasn't). I guess I'm saying it's "bumpy".
I, too, love this show. The pilot reminds me of the final episode of Maude when Maude Finley became a congresswoman (upon the death of her friend) and, like Suzanne, had trouble adjusting to her new role while dealing with her late predecessor's staff. I always wondered if Norman Lear was the inspiration for Bloodworth's sitcoms
This scenario happened in real life Marilyn Lloyd(D) took over her husband's Chattanooga, TN congressional district seat. She ended up doing a better job than him. Reelected many times and unbeatable serving until her retirement. The Rs have won and kept her former seat thru two different men since then.
Just think, if this show was a hit, Patricia Heaton wouldn’t have been available to do Everybody Loves Raymond, and another actress would have played Ray’s wife.
This show might've had a chance if it hadn't premiered during the middle of the season. It doesn't seem very many shows succeed when they start in December/January, especially back when you had to plan your TV watching unless you had a VCR.
Never even knew this was a show used to watch reruns of Designing Women with my girlfriend back in the early 90s. Gave my TV up over a decade ago glad there's YT. Enjoyed it even though this version of Suzanne has some weird differences. They should have stayed consistent. Suzanne had an adopted asian daughter and a cool crazy brother why change that?
She didn’t have any children, adopted or otherwise, while on Designing Women. She was a foster parent for a few weeks to a little girl-an orphan from Vietnam. There is no continuity issue whatsoever with her adopting later. Suzanne’s brother (Clayton) was actually her half brother since they only shared the same biological father. They chose a different actor than the one who appeared in a single Designing Women episode. That’s far from being a rare occurrence, especially when a show is a spin-off or as happened partially here.
This was before Pat Heaton was anybody on TV, love Delta and Terri Garr. Remember Terri from the Cher show, and the skinny funny Jennifer good too! Jesus, what has happened to TV, sad!!
I really like Delta Burke. I thought of her when I was watching reruns of Designing Women, and decided to see if this show was on YT. Glad I found it, but am disappointed with the lack of continuity with the Suzanne character on DW. Suzanne was not married and did not have children on that show. Why couldn't they just pick up where DW left off, with Suzanne going to Japan or something? And Delta doesn't even sound like Suzanne in this show. That was one of the things I loved most about Suzanne, especially when she would say, "Excuse me! Excuse me!" I can see why this show didn't last.
SusanAnd Sugar Baker is still the same on Designing Women but she is so good that way we Love her cause sound like is not there but in the point she is good to me now 🙏👼👍👱♀️
20:52 I binge watched the whole first season of this show here on YT. This is the first time the show talks about Dan Rather and Connie Chung as a couple. They do it AGAIN in a later episode. To my knowledge, Rather and Chung were never a couple. Chung has been married to Maury Povich since something like the mid-'80s! Is this one of those fine legal lines they draw to make situations SOUND plausible w/o talking about people's actual lives? IDK any other reason to do this. TODAY, people would just believe it. People spread misinformation all the time on the internet as if it were true simply because they heard it somewhere, and no one questions the truth of anything, unless it contradicts their existing beliefs about something. If it reinforces one's cherished beliefs and opinions, then it's accepted as truth w/o question, with no demand for evidence or even for a cited source.
They use a lot of dated jokes . The show is missing the right type of characters to play off of Delta's character otherwise it could have been a decent show
There is this one actress in the scene she was on Everybody Loves Raymond she played Deborah the one in the red head she had an occurring role on Nash Bridges TV series also monk the TV series Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and 7 other movies 12 different TV series and the blond hair actress she was in the movie let it ride
This show had promise, but Terri Garr is poison to every sitcom she’d ever been in. Then there was the ridiculous character of Jim. Also, the back and forth recast of Jennifer, etc.
I have been doing a binge of DW on Hulu so I came to UA-cam to see if this was on here. I actually think it’s pretty funny! I love Teri Garr usually but she is pretty terrible in this while the other ladies are great. Really seems to be phoning it in. Her whole character seems shoe horned in to the story and doesn’t belong honestly.
Poor, talented, marvellous Jonathan Banks, and poor, poor, magnificent Teri Garr, and how unfortunate for gifted Valerie Mahaffey . . . and thank goodness Patricia Heaton found success later. This was dire.
A poor shadow of what Suzanne Sugarbaker used to be on "Designing Women". They have taken some of the clichés about her and inflated them, leaving out the more nuanced parts and basically turned her into a big clown. This is badly written IMO.
"Excuse me! Excuse me!" never gets old. I kind of want to make it a ring tone.
THAT would be hilarious! Why don't you see if you can find a soundclip of that and turn it into a ring tone?!
Love how she can be polite and loud.
So this is what Debra was doing before she met and married Ray Barone and his wacky family.
I love it
And then became Frankie Heck.
I don't know why this got canceled, it's hilarious!! I love this show and Delta Burke. People have no taste these days, which is blatantly obvious with how long The Kardashians have been on. I can still see Mary Jo, Charlene, Julia and Susanne 😂
The dance Sequence was so awesome by Suzanne n her daughter - I loved this show too - huge Designing women fan
this was well written (witty) and hilarious. the chemistry btwn the ladies is particularly wonderful (especially Teri Garr and Patricia Heaton). i miss television like this....
There were too many good TV shows in the 80s and 90s and not enough time to watch them all.
Amen
I don't remember this for some reason.
So do we
Obviously it was canceled due to low ratings.. why do you think it was canceled?
Harry and Linda made a mistake. Anyone who knows the Sugarbakers knows that they only had one brother, Clayton, a half brother. Suzanne also had no children.
Is there any origin story for the daughter and the brother explained later in this series? If not, could you make one up? :-)
Agreed!
Agreed
Big fan ❤of her 2.
What a fantastic cast! I love all of these actresses.
Aww, that ending was sweet with Jimmy Stewart "coming to Washington" to support Suzanne! 👏❤️

Simply LOVE THIS!!!❤
Just so funny! Nice just to see something that is enjoyable.
The man who was Suzanne's brother in this series, played "Calvin Klein" on an episode of "Designing Women."😯😯
Yes he played the picky homeless man who won their contest and they redecorated his house
And Moving Man #2 is T. Tommy Reid!
36:35 "I thought you didnt jog?"
Suzabne: "That was before thry called me *FAT* "
Love this!!!! Delta ❤!
I've not seen this in years, but I'm enjoying it. The first scene is a little strange - almost like it was filmed live, partially ad libbed, & unedited (I know it wasn't). I guess I'm saying it's "bumpy".
2:30 that facial expression as shes about to take the sip. Rofl
Her husband ran off with halftime dancer.
This show wasn't bad. A lot of talented actors in it. Valerie Mahaffey is instantly hilarious
This is hilarious. Great writing and acting. Delta rocks!!! Why the hell did they cancel it. As I said hilarious.
This show is on Tubi and it's hysterical
Oh thanks for the heads up on where to find the rest
@@melanieortiz712 agree 👍🏼😊
I don't remember this either and I have watched these shows for years 🤔😳....
Thank you for the Great video
I love Suzanne Sugarbaker ( Delta Burke )
I loved this of course Delta is the Best
I have never seen or heard about this series .Where has it been. What year was it on?
I, too, love this show. ❤
Margaret Chase Smith did as well.
Much earlier & she served in both House of representatives & senate about 33 yrs
Don’t forget Lindy Boggs
I can't believe that Mike from Breaking Bad is Suzanne Sugerbaker's brother.
I wonder when Mike ended up moving to Albuquerque.
Yeah that's him
He was also the homeless guy who got the free decorating prize in the Designing Women show lol
Wouldn't it be great if we could bring back the ideals of Mr Smith Goes To Washington.
It was so good. I enjoyed it.
Just think, if this show was a hit, Patricia Heaton wouldn’t have been available to do Everybody Loves Raymond, and another actress would have played Ray’s wife.
This was amazing! I need more of this show!
That Hillary joke aged really well lmao. And this must be way before Martha Stewart went to prison lol
Lmao on that one
Teri Garr was tougher than Mike Ehrmantraut back then.
Janet ‘Waco’s on fire’ Reno
This is hilarious! I would have loved to watch reruns of this!
Teri garr. Thanks. Fairly remember this. Good.
Very good 👍👏 love it
That was terrific
It needed time to grow into itself.
What is this? I never heard of this series. I'll watch it because of Delta.
Great actresses. Great writing.
Suzanne is hysterical
How is it the comments start off positive then become negative lol
I love me some Delta!!
Me too!!!!❤
Me 2 ❤
Loved this
Where did this daughter and brother come from? Lol
Julia and Suzanne's brother was the topic of an episode. I believe he had been hospitalized for his mental health.
@@byfaithwalking1529 yes, he had mental health issues. and became a comedian. He's wasn't mentally challenged.
I wonder why we don't see much of Delta Burke these days
This show might've had a chance if it hadn't premiered during the middle of the season. It doesn't seem very many shows succeed when they start in December/January, especially back when you had to plan your TV watching unless you had a VCR.
Oh, now I know why this series is on for the King Charles tampon joke. Good one!
"I'm developmentally challenged, Waltuh."
Delta Burke is the most beautiful brunette woman that ever lived.
Her brother is the same guy that played Mike on Breaking Bad.
Miss Sugarbaker's face and manner of speaking like more mature 90's version of Shane McInerney from Signed Sealed Delivered.

God good cast miss this show
I dont like what they did w the Susanne Sugarbaker character at least not so far
The amount of ads are ridiculous
Fast forward 😊 and circle replay to have zero adds
They had a great cast for this show.
Great cast but Teri Garr steals the show!
The show should have kept Susan Powder as Suzanne’s rival.
This was before Pat Heaton was anybody on TV, love Delta and Terri Garr. Remember Terri from the Cher show, and the skinny funny Jennifer good too! Jesus, what has happened to TV, sad!!
Do they still make General Foods and International coffee?
I think they do. You're local grocery store, or probably Amazon has them.
Yes
Never knew about this show. How did daughter come about.
I really like Delta Burke. I thought of her when I was watching reruns of Designing Women, and decided to see if this show was on YT. Did anyone notice that Patricia Heaton was channeling Dixie Carter?
Linda and Harry are Geniuses 🎉😂❤
My first time experience with this show since my new peak interest!! Is that uhh from Everybody Loves Raymond yea?? She's funny in this.

I'm pretty sure this was an example of Suzanne getting "facts" wrong... just a joke... they were NEVER together.
Was this before designing women or afterwards.
Hilarious 😂 😃
So is this is y DB left Designing women and what about jean smart.
They use a lot of dated jokes . The show is missing the right type of characters to play off of Delta's character otherwise it could have been a decent show
Teri Garr is sitcom poison.
When did Suzanne have a baby?
She adopted
She was fired 4 gaining weight, then hired 4 the sequel series, fat? Hmm.
it wasn't just the weight gain she was allegedly acting like a diva on set
Meth head. I dated a crew guy member.😊 blue black saphire.😂
Wow..... It's understandable that this was canceled.... Thank you for sharing.

Guy at 7:22 looks familiar but I can't put my Finger on it.
Just curious was there ever any mention of a brother in Designing Women?
Yes there was a brother played by the late Lewis Grizzard. His character had spent time in a mental facility.
I have been doing a binge of DW on Hulu so I came to UA-cam to see if this was on here. I actually think it’s pretty funny! I like DB but this show sorry i can't get into i am only at the start.
Easy to see why this didn’t make. Hard to watch.
I love the cast, but for some reason, this show just doesn't work.
Great premise…great actresses… lost potential.
Not funny. The alcoholic coughing is terrible acting. All awful. No wonder didnt make a whole season. Love delta burke..but not this show.
This wasn’t funny
Cringey.

Wtf is this
Jim was a worthless character.
Wow, Ms MacElroy has an aged much...
Gee, you stink you stuck enough ads in there?
everyone is too LOUD and OVERACTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!
