- Watch this video to get all the details about the Starlink Pipe Adapter Kit that Starlink doesn't provide. I cover the pipe adapter, cable routing through the pipe adapter, what ships in the kit besides the adapter (carry bag, cable routing clips and screws, set screws, hex wrench) and all the dimensional information you may need to perform a clean install. After watching this video, you will have a much better understanding of the 3D part geometry and be able to better assess if this is the best accessory for your install. If it is, you will be able to use the dimensions provided to make sure you have the pipe needed or to determine if you can reuse an existing dish mount. This info should be helpful to homeowners, professional installers, and tower builders alike if you are trying to get more information before your Pipe Adapter Kit arrives. Dimensions are provided in inches and mm. If you are looking for an example install of the Pipe Adapter Kit, see my install overview video at the link below:

Starlink needs to link to this video on their pipe adapter product page. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for on the Starlink site. Thank you!
Thank you, but sincerely thank you. I watch technical design videos, and I'm a retired designer. I have never seen a video in detail, but in addition to the detail also the measurement unit switch. Congratulations and respect. I forgot, your video solved my questions about installing starlink and possibly building accessories yourself. (I haven't purchased it yet) Thanks, subscribed and liked. Excellent review! Great detail and the information was presented clearly. Thank you.
Great info, just what I was looking for, thank you!
I had the volume turned way up and then the outro music came on and freaked me out. anyway thanks for the video, I appreciate it.
Thank you for putting this together.
I wish more people provided info like this!
perfect, thanks!
"Freedom units", lol. :D
thanks for doing this. starlink provides zero spec information. very helpful thx !!
The detail on the Starlink site is pathetic and almost anti-consumer. lol Thanks for this great public service!
It’s what motivated me to make these videos. Happy the info helped.
Thank you so much, they should link to your video instead of the pathetic instructions 👍🏻
great video!
Thank you! The Starlink web site isn't very clear about the dimensions. This is very helpful.
You are AMAZING my friend
Thanks friend!
Thank you! I lost my hex key ,the extra screws and the rest of the kit. I have to move my dish mount to a new pole. I now know what size hex key to go buy.
This really helped me. I have the 2 3/8 pipe to attach this to and I wondered how the Starlink Ethernet cord would fit into all of this. Worried I would have to drill a 1 inch hole in the post, it looks like the place where the cord goes in at the bottom of the dish will end up having the Ethernet cord going up along the outside of the 2 3/8 pipe and then into Starlink Pipe Adapter.
Thanks for posting this my square dishy should be arriving in 2-3 days, but the pipe mount adapter is on backorder for approximately another month, so I am attempting to improvise my own version using a section of Aluminum tubing.
Awesome. Glad it helped. Let me know if you need some other info to build yours. Good luck.
I've got the round dishy (I'm not in America) on the way and my pipe adaptor was sent just one day after the dish was sent. I suppose the difference is that the locking pins on the round dish are round not rectangle like the ones in the video.
The video still helped me decide if the mount I plan to use will be suitable, so thank you, Remotely Aware.
Happy it helped!
Thanks for that... More detail is better than less...less music ' better than more. I am waiting for my kit. I hope to use some thicker wall 1-3/4" alu tube I have. It looks as if I may need a sleeve to make it snug. My tube will rest in an old Hughes Net (Bye-bye!!) mount. I will slot the bottom of the tube so my mast does not sound like I live in a boatyard. Cheers. Jim
I’m taking a chance on slower speeds and have ordered a Starlink RV dish for my house. I’m in a waitlist area and read I would be throttled. I get 1.2 mbps now and it’s my hope I can at least get 5 -10 with Starlink every even at throttled.
Great! Very helpful!
One question: where and how get the Pipe Adapter?
Thank you.
This is like mine. I have version 2. The first version is definitely different on the end. Did you end up running the cord inside the pole?
Well, this answers my questions about the size. I'm waiting for mine to be shipped. Got my dish on a janky temporary mount for now and am not quite happy with it. Thank you very very much! As you said, I'm planning ahead. I'm mounting mine to my eaves to get the clearest signal but I need about a 10' pole to go above the roof. I'm debating whether to buy a 40" j-mount and then figure out how to butt-joint some poles together or adding a wood block to the eaves to bump the pole out enough that it can clear the eaves overhang so the pole will be straight. I'm leaning toward the latter as it will be less expensive. Buying a 10' pipe is not going to be cheap. I'm still trying to decide between 1-1/2" structural pipe and 2" conduit pipe without a coupling. Not sure which would be sturdier.
Good luck. Glad you found the dimensions.
I got a 2 3/8 " pipe used for chain link fence posts at Menards and it fits perfectly on top.
@@bandman1967 Nice. The largest diameter mount I have will fit a nominal 2" pipe so I got found a sturdy 10'x2" pole that I've painted with Rustoluem to make sure it doesn't rust. I'm hoping the taller pole will clear the old oak tree that obstructs the signal from time to time.
I appreciate the tip about installing the cable inside the pipe. I did not know that was possible. The better pictures of the adapter were also a plus. Starlink does not do a great job showing detail on their accessories. Did you find a standard conduit that is a snug fit inside this adapter. I was thinking I would have to carry the adapter to the hardware store to find the best fit.
Can you give me a couple dimensions? what is the size of the button pop out indentation and how close is it to the top. Looks like its 1/2" x1/2" and maybe 1/4" from the top.
headphones users beware for the loud music at 7:57!!
Yes!!! nearly gave me a heart attack
On the diagram provided, what is item 2? I think I am I missing a piece!
I don't know about you, but I intend to drill a hole on both sides of the corner Cyclone fence post pipe to guarantee that the dish and this silly adapter WON"T SPIN in a wind storm. I intend to mount up 140 feet on one of my trees, which has been topped.
I also intend to use small 6' bicycle lock cable ($6 at Home Depot) to serve as a safety just in case the bolts in the tree don't hold up in a windy storm. Likewise, I will use one of these cables to secure the dish stem to the pipe that the pipe adapter is connected to. You know that this dish is actually a sail, right? So, bolts on clamps that are made for Cyclone fences and the safety cable should be enough to delay a total failure. It will give me time to get the tree service guy back out here to reinstall the dish. It won't drop far. If it did it would be time to get another dish. The tree trunk at the point where it was topped is about 18" across. I have the 150 foot cable, but would really like to measure the height of the tree top so that I don't run out of cable at 20 feet off the ground.
I live in high wind area and worry about the adapter vibrating loose and falling off my roof. Think I can drill threw the pipe and use nuts/washers and bolts?
Really don’t think you will need to. It is solid
Great video, one question when using pipe adapter. I know the dish moves on a motor but does it actually turn 360 degrees?
Then this brings to my next question, should the clip part of pipe adapter be facing a certain direction like south or north or can the dish align that much?
It does move 360 and will point itself where it needs to. No need to worry about alignment of the key / clip unless you prefer access to the detent release button for the clip in a certain direction. Also, it doesn’t move much after initial setup.
Thanks. I was wondering what size pipe to purchase.
Glad I could help
Do you happen to know if you can direct bury the cable? I think they said no on the first gen, just wondering about the new cable. Waiting over a year now for my dish.
Thanks
I haven’t seen anything stating that it is direct burial rated.
You must use pvc. It is NOT direct burial.
@@bandman1967 I’ve read the same that it should not be buried directly in soil and needs conduit
@@eleets82 yes
Freedom Units?
What is the OD of the rectangle dishy pipe?
First couple inches are 1.340” OD, then the rest of the pipe steps up to 1.500” OD. The pipe isn’t perfectly round so I’d say about +\- .005” on both of those measurements.
Please provide a link for the Star Link Pipe adapter kit.
It shows up on your account once they let you know they are shipping your dish
What size pipe should I get for my pipe adapter?
i believe 2” works
Thanks for this btw...many ask so here's some details to link! Wow when you slid that ethernet jack into the pipe you pretty much have zero force to make it connect --> @ 7:25 so I guess its good to go that easy? Does it feel like it grips tight when you insert it? There's really no way to get your finger on it to make is snap and you relied on the straight cable to ensure it connects? Anyways hello healthy looking buddy dog! I'm in Canada and have the round dish so I'll likely never get to experience the rectangular dish and its quirks.
It isn't a typical Ethernet connection, so it doesn't click in place. It has a gasket on the outside also. It does feel like a solid grip and not concerning to me. I have another video that shows the cable end in more detail.
ua-cam.com/video/XhbCJtp9no4/v-deo.html
The way it slides in makes it impossible to remove when attached to the mount so it's nothing to worry about. It's some sort of proprietary connector, but I've heard a few people say it's just ethernet underneath if you dare strip the 65$ cable.
I think you measured everything except the inside diameter of the big hole which I was wanting to know…. Didn’t do me any good
Pro tip: It’s approx. the outer diameter - 2 * wall thickness. Thanks for the comment!
Freedom Units - love it!
More like Freedumb units. I'm so tired of obnoxious fake patriots.
I just got my kit in. They could have skipped the cover and saved us $.15 cents.
I had to use my microscope to read the instruction sheet.
Freedom units? Haha
Freedom Units. I love it!
Freedom Units?
I think that you mean "British Imperial"......
It's a MAGA thing. Virtual signaling to the idiots.
Please don't make any more videos like this. Especially ending with the loud music.
If you don't like his videos..simple dont watch! I enjoyed this one.
