We had a great experience with our salesman at Beaver Toyota back in Oct 2015 when we bought our Sienna. Currently waiting for the Grand Highlander to come back to lots so we can buy but not sure where at since we aren’t in Florida anymore. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as a real owner. It’s been very helpful!
@@CreatingSelfCarePlans thank you for your comment and support!
We had a 2015 Highlander XLE AWD that was an absolutely fantastic car. 208k worry free miles. Sold it as we are making 3 round trips from Iowa to Florida every year. Only got $11,500 for it because of miles. Bought a Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited in august ‘23. So much space, incredible gas mileage for an AWD SUV. Plan on keeping this for the 200k miles as well. We paid window sticker, no addendums. It was august, and the GH were rare, and hybrids were even more rare. I don’t think the dealer even knew it was coming until I called and ask if I could buy it.
Good to hear!
That review was great, thanks for sharing your experience at Beaver Toyota! I live in Jacksonville, Florida, I am looking for a 2024 Grand Highlander limited in wind chill pearl! Please, post more videos 😊
Thank you for watching! More to come for sure! I know beaver Toyota had about 5 on the lot! Just talk to Pheaon! Watch out for car salesman who are trying to get people to pay the ridiculous addendum! You should be able to get a better deal than me with the car slow down!
We got a Grand Highlander Limited similar to yours but it has a few more of the extras on it. We didn't order it but got it directly off the lot. We don't have the heads up display or the digital rear view mirror but other than that, it is exactly what we wanted. We love how it drives, thankful for all the room, and love the fact that we know we don't have to worry because it is a Toyota. Glad you like yours as well!
Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!
Tacomas and tundras have gone to absolute crap. Tundra engines are failing left and right. It’s disgusting. That’s why tundras are piling up. Nobody is willing to buy them.
Thank you so much for the real life review! I’ve been trying to talk my husband into trading our 2019 Highlander in. We have three kiddos and they are starting to feel squished and we don’t live by family and they come visit a lot as we currently just moved to Hawaii.
And ya that’s a bummer about the window! I love that feature on my Highlander! But I could totally give that up for the extra room
There is definitely extra room. Absolutely 100% sure on that. Just know that you will be giving up gas mileage. Which is normal for a car that’s bigger and it’s only right now with the only version is a four-cylinder turbo.. thanks for watching. I appreciate your comment.
Thank you kindly for all the great information. Also best blessing to you and your family...! (Great Job)
Thank you for watching and the comment. Greatly appreciated!

This was such a useful review! Similar situation but just can’t do the 4 cylinder. Hopefully the 6 returns
Thank you for the support and watching.
Our 2015 highlander LE had 100k miles, needed new tires, brakes and had a small dent. We sold it for 20K! We bought it new for 30K. I’m glad we sold it because we would probably get half of that today. We are just waiting for rates to go down or more incentives from manufactures.
Super smart!!! Ya we lost a lot quickly!
That’s great that you got $20k. We got $11,500 for our 2015 Highlander XLE AWD. However, I had 208k miles on it.
@@jonkrispeterson6678 it’s crazy how almost overnight everybody lost so much value or inflation value because of Covid prices on their vehicles

We’re planning to get one or Lexus RX.😅 it’s a nice color you may have barely have enough space in the back I like the front I like the back once again congrats John 0:35 😊 I like the grin Highlander more than the 2018 Highlander 0:45 😮 you deserve the like and subscribe
Thank you for the great compliments! Just be aware of the recall right now. I haven’t seen any grand highlanders for sale at dealerships due to the airbag issue. I appreciate the support!
Great review.
I believe Toyota dropped the rear window that opened to save weight and allow the door to open more quickly. For us, never cared about the opening speed.
We miss the hatch, it was great for packing the car to the gills! Thank you for watching and the comments!
Your ability to discount below MSRP was due to dealing with in stock inventory. Adding a specific option such as the video rear mirror (along with your wife's requirements) would have forced you into a factory order and diluted your ability to negotiate price.
Possibly…
Great review with real world experience!!!
Thank you for watching! I appreciate your comment!
wow that is nice , in Canada still the car market is crazy , you have to wait for over 6 months for this car and over 18 months for the Hybrid version
Looks like you may have to wait longer. Supposedly there is a production stop on them. There is a safety recall on crash testing. I made a video : ua-cam.com/video/m5DxFA3wuhI/v-deo.htmlsi=EDYmpSKxn88xsyKE from leaked information from another car UA-cam guy. Hope it helps!
I initially wanted to purchase a Hybrid Limited, but when I received a drive out price of 68K, I decided to explore other options. I ultimately ended up purchasing a Jeep Grand Cherokee L for 42K.
I think we could have swung the Hybrid limited for about $57-58k with no addendum. How long ago were you trying to purchase it?
In hindsight, you will wish you had went with the Toyota; anything Stellantis makes is pure crap, and Jeep is no Exception...
Very good video. I am looking at a very similar Toyota Grand Highlander. Thanks for the information.
Absolutely! Glad I could help!
This was a great and enjoyablr review. Thanks for sharing.
@@NdiNaija thank you for watching! More to come.
Thanks for the honest review. I love the Highlander XLE that I have. However I was thinking about this car.
Thank you for watching! We loved our 2018 highlander as well!
Against my better judgment ( 1st year) we purchased an XLE in August. Couldnt wait the 10 to 12 week wait for a Platinum.. Very happy with the vehicle with the exception of the driver side curtain air bag fiasco. And the second FOB fiasco. Just recieved notification after 10 months we can schedule the pick up for it. The longer the delay and current production/delivery stop due to the air bag issue the biggest concern I have with the value and trade value for the vehicle. It also tells me this vehicle was rushed through the entire design and build process which long term doesn't bode well for the vehicle. Toyotas are still a very reliable vehicle but overall since the changes at the top of the company I have some huge concerns. It appears that profits are the main focus.

Thanks for this real review. So as you are saying it’s possible to get the vehicle under MSRP proce? And is it possible to lower the ARP% while the lender is Toyota finance services?
Bank is chase and credit score is Excellent.
Thanks
Yes, it’s absolutely possible. That’s what happened for me. You just have to make sure you know what the real prices are for the vehicles and do some research. Thank you for watching.
Great review! From what I know you can only get the digital rearview mirror in the the Premium versions. That's what sold me on the Premium. Plus the moonroof was standard. Thank you for the recommendations on the other channels for the financial tips. I'm in the market for one and I'm definitely going to check out those other creators before I step foot in the dealership. :)
Well worth the time! Thank you for watching!
We had 2017 highlander Limited Platinum, but it was total lost 😢so we decided to get the Grand Highlander, and because of the spesification, we had to wait 3 weeks

@@AviatorsGarage Definitely helpful, I've ordered mine today. Having another real family review it like yours is super. And congrats on the new addition to the family!
@@burfine thank you so much and thank you for watching! My wife loves it and it’s been way way more roomy than the 2018 Highlander. I hope you enjoy it. I’m going to keep documenting to see if we run into an issues or recalls so people can be in the loop!
Great review. Would love to be knowledgeable as to how I won’t be paying the sticker price and the addendums. Any links for it?
I explained it in the video. It’s a negotiation process.
Hello. Thank you for your honest review. I’m loving grand Highlander for the space, reliability, fuel economy, price, easy ride specially in small parking lots, and lower height for easy in and out. But I’m still concerned about the space and road efficiency. Should I consider it or stick to my original plan Suburban? Note please I’m living in Middle East
Suburban is way bigger footprint on the road, for us the Grand highlander is perfect. Only issues are it’s a newer engine that has to build a reputation. It’s a Toyota (I’m sure it will be fine) it is a turbo and that may affect performance in hotter environments. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the compliment.
I bought the Cx90 Turbo SPP. Love drives incredible. My credit score is 690 and i got 3.9%
That’s awesome. Must be a deal going on for them now through manufacture financing!
Nice hoping to get a limited hybrid in Black by the end of the year my sweet spot is always the end of October early November incentives are crazy anywhere from 10 to 20% off MSRP it'll be tough this year but I'll give it the old College try
Either way I think it’s a smart plan and hopefully you can work a deal because I think the economy is starting to slow down pretty rapidly. At least Realestate in my area has typically slow slow down houses stay on the market for anywhere from 2 to 3 months now, which used to be normal.
I’m thinking about getting it next month
Awesome! My wife loves it. The MPG has been disappointing though. Only 20.2 with 1500 miles and we have the 2.4 turbo 4cylnder non hybrid. It advertises 21-28. Haven’t seen that at all…
Soar, your mileage surprise me. Have the same configuration on my xle and through 9k miles are looking at 24 and 28. Checked the mileage manually for 4 tankfuls and was 23 and 27. Which is similar to every vehicle I've owned the last 25 years. Do you always use the eco mode? Acceleration and deceleration can differentiate up to 15% mileage on most vehicles. Especially on the city side.
Im planning to get one since ill be a dad soon and also our families are growing 😊 i hope at least get the base
Congratulations!!!

Great video, my family is growing as well and my wife and I are looking to trade in her jeep compass for a 4Runner or a Highlander. Due to her getting ripped off with the jeep beginning of COVID now we are upside down so much that I’m worried we won’t be able to afford to get her a bigger car. Any tips on how to get a good deal?
Yeah, with a car being upside down I don’t know how you’re gonna be able to get a good trade-in because you car prices have come down a lot. They’re definitely a slow down in the car market. I do know if you shop around your local area and you also look at kbb.com and Edmunds.com. You can see what the prices are doing for vehicles to include trade in and new purchases. Once you’ve done your research trust in the price that you want to pay and keep walking out until the dealer agrees to paying that. as far as the upside down jeep looks like you’re gonna have to figure out a way to sell it private party or just keep it. Lots of people got messed over in Covid. Thank you for watching and let me know how it goes.
Sport on the highlander just stays in the gears longer so it's not stumbling around - good for when you might be hitting the gas a little harder or don't want it stumbling around in stop in go traffic.
Actually it does what I said, what you said, and one more thing - “Sport mode changes control parameters in transmission lockup and shifting, throttle response and Electronic Power Steering assist.” - support.toyota.com/s/article/How-does-Sport-mode-c-7761?language=en_US#:~:text=Answer-,Sport%20mode%20changes%20control%20parameters%20in%20transmission%20lockup%20and%20shifting,and%20Electronic%20Power%20Steering%20assist.
I have the 2021 highlander xle
3rd row actually slides back farther. I tried to custom order and they told ne they weren't taking orders🙄
Our 2018 high lander was way less roomy in the third row and didn’t slide back at all. It’s on a big safety recall unfortunately. No sales or product ion as of this moment.
Agree love the rear window hatch on my 2016.
Also love my V6.
WISH BOTH CAME BACK AS AN OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL COST EXTRA.
Looks like there may be a V6 option in the 2025… rumors as of now
I'm just worried the 4cyl Turbo isn't going to be enough power, when you are using the AC. Time will tell??
It has an 8 speed transmission. It’s definitely compensated for the reduced HP. We are going to take a road trip soon. I am going to film and post findings. Now if you are driving at a high altitude like Colorado- historical data shows turbos lose efficiency. So that’s an unknown for me…
You can add on the video camera rear view mirror after market
@@californiadreaming567 very true I found it! Thank you!

Beaver Toyota at St. Augustine Florida. Speak with Pheaon. He is the one who got me the deal. Just stay firm on what you want.
Nice congrats! I plan to get a hybrid max but those are very limited.
Thank you so much for the comment. I’m actually gonna shoot a video going on the hunt for hybrids to see exactly what the market is for them. I’m also going to do some research and find out what the productions are going to be. That way people don’t have to feel pressured to buying what they see right then and there and also pay a high markup. Because pretty much the hybrid max is going to be the standard engine for Toyota moving forward. So they’re going to build so many of them that you don’t need to pay the high markup. Does that make sense?
Anyone considering the GH needs to do some research if u haven't already. Production was halted on all models in late June due to a safety recall. Driver side curtain air bag failure. Flunked the safety rating tests. Also my understanding, that dealers were told not to allow any to leave the lot and all sales were also frozen. Supposed to have an update late August about a fix for it. Will be interesting how they finish up this year's production if they even do and how it will affect next model year. I'm actually hearing rumblings that Toyota may have to discontinue this first generation and redesign and move into the second generation. If that happens it will kill the values on the 2024 in my opinion. Salesmen told me that as of now they cant even take them in trade. Not liking at all the slow response from Toyota and failure to come up with a fix. Was happy with mine until this
Totally agree- I made a video on recall. Critical Update: Toyota Grandhighlander Recall Notice

I’ve considered getting my wife the hybrid version of this. Just not a big fan of Toyota’s latest vehicles nor their dealerships.
Ya I don’t blame you. More and more I dive into Toyota lately, I’m finding issues. I was going to buy a tundra but unfortunately they are not reliable. The new Highlander is up in the air right now. I’m documenting on our experience as real owners. So far I’ve had one weird thing happen while driving it. I’ll be posting a video in a few days as I research more.
Do you know when the 2025 is coming out?
According to google: The 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander is expected to be released in summer 2024, with an estimated starting price of around $45,000. The Grand Highlander is a midsize three-row SUV that's larger than the regular Highlander, and Edmunds.com recommends it for its fuel efficiency, comfort, and technology. It also has one of the more adult-friendly third rows available.
I'm in carsales myself and its been really busy the last few weeks or so (just got back into sales) but it all depends on the lot.
Thanks for the input! North Florida is slow then!
My 2018 chevrolet traverse awd LT has all of that features and more minus the ventilated seat which I could do without it because it's just an added expense in repaired under 30 grand use and fully certified and a whole lot easier to get in and out.
I’m very very weary of Chevrolet… I’ve had bad experiences!
Nice review. Thanks. Couple of questions
1) Does it have the head up display
2) Many people with hybrid GH are complaining about the smaller capacity of the fuel tank. Hope you don’t have that issue
3) Do you have the hood vibration problem
Thank you for watching. No heads up display, I don’t have the hybrid so can’t answer that, no hood shake issue at all.
I went for the 2024 Highlander Limited Gas. Out the door, $ 47,300. Good dealer. Considered the Grand. A lot bigger than the Highlander but only a small difference. Read complaints it’s thinner metal and sounds hollow when knocking on the outside as opposed to the solid Highlander thud. That explains why it has the same 2.4 T as the regular Highlander. Thinner metal.
Makes perfect sense, how much does the Highlander weigh? Wish I looked at the curb weight for our 2018 before I traded it in. The grand highlander definitely feels bigger but lighter. Guess that’s how they can use the 4 cylinder turbo now.
If Toyota could do a software update to view the back up camera on screen while driving in D that would solve your digital rear view mirror issue.
That would be amazing but I think the mirror itself needs to be a monitor screen itself, unfortunately it’s just a normal mirror. Good thought though! Thanks for watching!

Test drove a brand new one today. Wasn’t impressed at all. It didn’t feel as solid or well put together as my 2021 Durango inside and definitely didn’t drive as well. The noisy turbo 4 for the Grand Highlander felt too weak for the vehicle’s size. The Durango is quite heavier but it’s easy to tell it has a much better suspension system.
Awesome! you gotta do what works for you!
what do you think about the build quality,, it got an okayish score in the crash ratings test...
So it’s definitely a bigger car- but it feels like it’s “light.” I’m sure they had to cut down on the weight somehow if they were going to use a four-cylinder turbo engine. But as far as it being Toyota quality, I feel as of right now that the car is made well. Once we get a few thousand miles on it, my opinion may or may not change, but I will definitely add an update to this video.

Guess you are a car audio enthusiast?
That would hurt. I had a 1996 Mercedes that did that. It hurt. If it happens a lot, you can open your "fresh air vent" on the air conditioner/heater on your dash. That will make it less of an issue. This could hurt the baby's ears, so it's a good thing to notice.
@@danbuffington75never had that issue before in any car, even when my 5 yr old was a newborn in the 2018 Highlander. Plus with the new cars these days, I figure that is an extremely rare issue with design and technology improvements.

They way I see it is that is cost almost half the price of a grand highlander and I get more room and a tv for the kids with a hybrid system saying more money on gas! They only thing I can see the grand highlander is better for is haul and if you like to go fast.
Have you researched the cat market at all! Toyota has led sales with #2-#7 in top ten sales. Tundra sales are up 20%, Corolla sales up 34% just because you can count the cars on a dealer lot it doesn't reflect sales numbers that are as simile as a Google search
Car sales everywhere are way way down. I don’t agree with that.
How is the gas milage on this g highlander
@@BonnieDavid-se5wi 20.0-21.0 best. Way lower than 22-28 advertised…
Telluride and it has a better warranty
Maybe yes maybe no. Our specific Highlander has a 20 year 200,000 mile warranty for the powertrain. It was thrown in specific at the dealership where we purchased the car.
Why didn’t u guys get Lexus tx ?
Oh only about $20k difference lol! Holy CRAP! I’m not a captain yet chief!!!
whats the color ?
Storm cloud I believe is the name.
Did you get a tax credit from trade in?
State tax yes.
Mileage?
We are at 2800 now
How did u get $2000 off?
I show it in the whole video. Did a lot of shopping around and found out what was a realistic deal. Plus I was firm. I also hung up on salespeople who wasted my time.
I'm not sure if that's an actual upgrade. Who will change the baby diapers? im sure you will need that bench on the second row. Trust me, if you ever take a road trip, you will wish you had one.
We’ve never needed one. Plenty of 400 mile road trips… yes it’s an upgrade- way way more room than normal highlander
The pilot will eat this alive in terms of drive feel, the 6 cylinder is a no brainer
Yeah, unfortunately, the six cylinder is no longer available. You can only get the Highlander in the 2.4 cylinder turbo or the 2.5 four-cylinder turbo hybrid. They do not put 6 cylinders in any Highlanders anymore.
Really??? I love to see that... you let me know when that happens so I can come to see how it happens...
@@Aikynbreusovha ha - I fixed it. No more 6 cylinders at all in highlanders or grand highlanders…
Pilot is hideous inside and out and 3rd row is horrible. My wife and I have sat in all the SUVs this size with a 3rd row, nothing has beat the GH
Never buy the first year of anything. Grand Highlander has safety issues and with tundra sequoia Lexus Toyota is screwed and will drive the resale value down
I used to agree to that. But now the new tundras are on their third year and they have a severe issues still. The engines are still blowing on 2024s Seems like Toyota is not putting out quality product anymore. Sucks because I absolutely love Toyota.
Cheap JBL speakers, the poor interior design, it look like it came out of 90s.
@@rizwanrafeek3811 but definitely not priced in the 90s 😂
@@AviatorsGarage Mazda has got good interior design, but I like Honda's reliability.
Grand Highlander size is right but poor interior design, it looks like just run of the mill.
Just look at the seats, it sucks. I want to buy one, but I hate the look of the interior design, exterior is OK I can live with it.
oh well, it is what it is. My kids and wife hate it too.
@@rizwanrafeek3811 favorite 90s car? I have two classic Mazdas. One from 80s and on from 90s.
is this a hybrid ?
No. Just a turbo 2.4l 4 cylinder
Do a video about recalls asap for more subs haha
Been dun sun.
Critical Update: Toyota Grandhighlander Recall Notice

Economy good now? Where do you live where it's good, its horrible everywhere.
Agreed
Stay away, it has many problems and the biggest flaw is the safety, cheaply made, its an overpriced car with lots of issues.
Toyota is having issues for sure this build cycle
Why in the world would you even trade in a perfectly fine PAID OFF car?! I have a paid off 2016 accord with 88k miles and I’m gonna drive it to the ground before I buy another car. You should’ve told your wife to go sit down somewhere for wanting a new car
That age old saying man, happy wife happy life! You’re more than welcome to reach out if you need any marriage advice!
@@AviatorsGarage thanks but I don’t need marriage advice. Been with mine for 15 years and luckily she thinks the same way I do in regard to rather not having a car payment than going into a $37k debt. But hey man you do you. I was just saying..
@@Mr_T817 cool man me too! 15 yrs going on 88! We needed a bigger car since we had new baby. Lots of stuff to carry on road trips, plus the mother in law goes with us too! To each their own! Thanks for watching.
Hey if the guy can afford it and it makes him happy. His spending is his business.
Why are you watching a review of a vehicle and then complaining about the reviewer for purchasing the vehicle? Not sure why you're watching this video and providing an unnecessary comment that has nothing to do with the review 🤔
I’m getting this in November, right when I give birth. Like what do I do to get out of paying those extra fees. I do have a Hyundai Tucson for trade in and I think I’m only getting a 7k for trade in. It’s paid off, Also, I need all the help I can get to not get a high payment.
Congratulations on the baby!
@@AviatorsGarage thank you boss you and congratulations to you too.
@@dgeraldadorsainvil7873 just remember it’s perfectly ok to walk away from a deal. Car sales nationwide have slowed down drastically. They will make a deal if you do not budge or walk away. Congratulations on the growing family.
@@AviatorsGarage will November-December be a good month to buy though ?
@@dgeraldadorsainvil7873 car sales will be slowing down so much because of the economy. You’ll be able to get a deal way better than mine. But you have to follow what I did.
