    We have owned our ‘24 Grand Highlander since 8/23. Absolutely no problems. Love it. We get 24-28 mpg on highway. Drive mostly in town so our average is 19-20. We have the Limited trim with the non hybrid engine. Lots of power. We do not experience any road noise. We do not have the sunroof. Heats and cools terrific. Love the AWD in the rain and snow. I agree that the sheet metal does flex more than I want. Just got 2 different notices in the mail this month: 1) second key fob is now available (finally) and 2) the safety recall on the side curtain airbags. I’m not worried about this and I know Toyota will get that fixed in the future.

      @user-ll7fv6tu7k awesome I have that one too. I get 23.9 mpg but sometimes it's saying better than that. I only have 7000 miles on mine and I plan to go road trip with it. I love the roominess and putting stuff in the back with out bending my back. It packs in a lot of stuff. My only complaint is I want a regular full size spare. My tacoma has a regular full size spare

      @mph1363 Місяць тому

      It’s not just about reducing costs - car manufacturers are also under pressure from governments to meet stricter fuel consumption standards. To achieve this, they use thinner metal sheets and lighter materials, which help reduce a vehicle's weight and improve fuel efficiency. However, to compensate for the thinner body panels, manufacturers focus on reinforcing the car’s main frame and structural integrity, making vehicles safer and stronger in case of an accident. As a result, although modern car bodies may appear thinner than before, they still provide sufficient protection in collisions.

    Thank you for your videos! I was able to purchase my GH Gas Plat in June about 2wks before the stop sale. My pano roof recently had to replaced because the glass stopped opening at being used twice but other than that I’ve been very happy with the car with no other issues. My daughter also sits in the 3rd and absolutely loves it! Fingers crossed the airbag recall will be the only other problem we experience because I really don’t want a different SUV. From reading different forums there aren’t any other SUVs in this class that offer the same space with reliability. So I hope Toyota hasn’t tarnished its reputation by making too many cost saving changes.

    Yes you are right. it might be a 1 year model and they will redesign the Grand Highlander for the 2027 with updated safety, design and refinement. We suspect that Toyota might also increase the price as they have current data on how much demand the vehicle has and they could start charging more for it as well they will place a $5000-$7000 premium on it to differentiate it from the regular highlander.

    1. Toyota is not going to redesign this vehicle in the way you’re suggesting. There are little to no changes planned for 2025.
    2. Toyota has redesigned the airbags for the pillars, they have a solution. They have to fix every vehicle sold, and every unsold but manufactured vehicle.
    3. The car has been on stop sale well over 2 months. Lots of time frame estimates, but most suggest new deliveries commencing between Dec and Feb
    4. There will be no class action lawsuit. It was a voluntary safety recall and Toyota offered rentals / vehicles to all impacted
    5. By all accounts, prior to this recall, this has been a wildly successful product introduction, significantly impacting standard highlander sales. I think the real question, is there room in the product line up for the standard highlander…
    6. Yes, Toyota has taken a hit recently-the tundra engine issue is big. Toyotas reputation is critical to them. They will adjust and correct. But the tundra problems are remotely unsimilar.
    7. As to your nit picks about these other issues, this is no different than any other automotive manufacturer. This is a first year, of Gen 1. You have to expect issues, from any auto mfg on a 1st year model.

    Toyota has issued a resolution, Sept 13 2024. A modified curtain air bag will be installed on driver/pass sides. The GH is NOT being refreshed or redesigned. I'm unable to post the link to the news release

    • @AviatorsGarage
      @AviatorsGarage  4 місяці тому

      Thank you! UPDATE TO MY REPLY- there is no remedy posted. My Application states “TOYOTA is currently preparing the remedy for this issue. When the remedy is available, Toyota dealers will replace the driver curtain airbag, and passenger curtain Air bag FREE OF CHARGE. At this time, Toyota is unable to provide an estimate of when the remedy will be available.” This has been stated since the recall was issued. The only thing that has changed is both airbags have issues now.

    • @FoundWorthy
      @FoundWorthy 3 місяці тому

      @@AviatorsGarage Made in Mexico I believe, its not the Turbos thats the issue, manufacturing process. The GH is made in the USA, recalls are unfortunate and I think compensation should be made. The Airbag issue requires them to drop the whole headliner....my NEW car will rattle forsure after that and theirs also a programing recall that's minor issue.

    Owned Toyotas for 25 years. Purchased my GH XLE in Aug 23. First Toyota I've ever regretted buying... Values are tanking and dealers won't accept in trade. The fix for this will be a compromise and will likely move it into a forced redesign and the end of Gen 1. Class actions to follow. Lawyers will benefit but consumers are screwed. I'm starting to question how safe it is to drive. Not gonna end well.

      Didn’t watch the video yet, but will this afternoon. If Toyota fixes the recalls, aren’t we essentially good to go? Not worried about trading values cause I’m gonna keep it for a very long time but definitely super upset about all this. Once they fix everything, isn’t it safe again? I am a dumb naïve car buyer.

      This is wildly inaccurate. Values are not tanking. All you need to do is look at used car sales. There is no redesign planned. They already have a fix.
