On this episode of Weekenderlander, we take the Land Cruiser on a mini overland trip (just camping really, relax), to let it spread its wings a little. This was the 80 Series Land Cruiser's first trip since putting on the new GFC (Go Fast Campers) tent. The FZJ80 performed great, though we didn't really do any wheeling. The GFC held up great, and we had a good time taking the 80 on its maiden voyage. Full Land Cruiser Walkaround coming soon.

Should I ever think about adding narration like everyone else does, or nah?

Some narration could be good when showing things that could use some more info....
I haven't watched many of your vids yet. Found you thru John the PoetWarrior. I see your ankle has healed... that was rough.
I can't wait to see more about your Land Cruiser. I'm hoping to pick up some tips and ideas for overlanding camping adventures.

Please no. Look at venture4wd no music no narration and the most epic stuff on UA-cam. His vids make you feel like you’re there. If you change make a change in his direction. That’s my two cents anyway 😬

Narration during broll? I think it's fine to let the pictures speak for themselves. You nail the vids so they speak volumes. Let the videography speak for itself.

For shots of vehicles travelling off-road, music is great. I don't like it when it is a background to a conversation or narrative.

100% agree. I find it highly annoying to have music on when people are talking. You are then chasing the volume. You have to turn it up to understand the conversation and then it is too loud.

Ahh, found the comment box. I like the music but also cool to change it up at times. Content: equipment, gear, including installs and specs. I really liked the water container that you tapped with a spigot. Maybe some b roll with how-to on that, where the container was sourced, and brand name. Detailed info is your specialty. Lastly the location, (not GPS necessarily) story behind it. Colorado is rich in history. Some of the landscape appeared to have been damaged by an avalanche or fire- went by quick. Nature, gear, history, music. Magical combination on the way to 1m subscribers :)

Keep the music. It adds a lot to the feel of the video.
Some things I'd find interesting in weekenderlander videos:
    - Packing. Tips, things you found you don't/do need based on past trips, etc.
    - Setting up camp. Picking out a spot, getting leveled, etc.
    - B-roll of scenery
    - Your take on the road to where you are and what type of vehicle you'd need for it. Things like AWD, high clearance, stock.
    - Vlogging around camp. Gotta get your girl to be less camera shy haha.

Hey, Mike! If you haven't tried it, try grilling some spam. Goes great with the usual eggs and rice, but you could also make some grilled spam sliders (w/ a slice of pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, tomato slices and some leaf lettuce). My old auto tech coworker who's an older American Latino told me about that idea of grilling the Spam.

Drone footage seems to be what separates good channels from the bad ones - you're one of the good ones of course! Music is a must for driving scenes, it helps sets the mood/tone for the video. That's why director's include a "score" in their movies. I've never had any issues with your choice of music ... I would just be careful to put it over conversations because then it can be distracting.

Evening Mike, I enjoyed the simplicity and realistic feeling to this video. I personally miss a LITTLE bit of the music, but generally don’t care for overly-saturated music that reminds me of the gym radios. Been watching since you reviewed the Gerber Downrange Tomahawk.

Another fantastic video! I think that music is always welcome since it sets the mood esp when on the trails but do what you love doing. We're grateful for the content. I esp like your "new" overlanding rig. Can't wait for the next video, keep up the great work!

My kind of breakfast! Love spam and eggs. And do add some music. A plain jane one is ok once in awhile.

Definitely stick with the music. I'm a big fan of the original vibe you had going on with the weekenderlander stuff, because it captures the whole experience really well. It helps to calm my itch to go out camping when I'm stuck at home or somewhere else all weekend.

I like with music but good video anyway. Wind is the bane of my existence in winter. In Tennessee like today 54 degrees with a constant 20 mph wind. Would have been perfect. Oh well such is life.

Still love the music. It reminds me of a montage in a movie and really sets the tone. Like The secret world of Walter Mitty.

Music for sure!!! It adds to that adventure and gets people more excited to get outside. Without the music, it just looks and feels like our own go pro footage we never do anything with :)

Haha agreed - I think it's a lot of the bushcraft crowd that likes the no music videos. But that's kind of different cause it's a random solo dude out in the woods with no noise.

@@LastLineOfDefense For sure! Well, tell them to mute the video :) haha Oh and I'm personally all about the Tacoma but the LC is pretty sweet! Keep up the videos we love em!

Man the land cruiser is looking good and the ground clearance is Solid with those 35s. I'm a fan of music in the vids for all the reasons you stated. It definately adds to the vid imo and helps tell the story in the way you want to tell it when your chosing the tunes👍 Lastly Ima Spam Man Yum Yum!

I like the music, but it's really no big deal. I love seeing your setups...not a tabletalk, but you just using your stuff.
