On this episode of Weekenderlander, I take my 80 Series Land Cruiser out with Philip's (@mytoyo) 5th Gen Quicksand 4Runner, and we end up camping in some snow. Philip refuses to winter camp without a fire, so building one of those was on the agenda as well. One very important thing to note is, be safe with fires. This trip we couldn't start a forest fire if we tried - but usually we build small fires, have fire extinguishers handy, and really don't ever let it get out of control. Clean up after yourselves, be safe, and have fun on your next overland / weekenderlander adventure!

@last line of defense - I have a similar platform and mattress setup in my 4Runner. I noticed that when I put reflectix up on my side and rear windows, it kept the cabin about 10-15 degrees warmer on cold winter nights, and act like blackout shades for the morning. Much more comfortable. Plenty of Reflectix vids on the tube. 🤙🏼

Great video! One comment on external fuel container not available in U.S.
As a D.O.T. employee, we were forced to change external fuel cells to approved steel safety cells due to static discharges caused by plastic/vinyl containers causing unstable fire/explosion conditions.
    Keep up the great vids!

I enjoy the vids that are fully developed with perhaps a little more exploring; kinda the reason I want to do overlanding as well)...loved the ambiance of the bon fire, "high-end" food tasting from Patagonia...I enjoy seeing how you use different products with pro's and con's. I like the ARB front bumper with the antenna mount. I had a 4Runner before with the same bumper and had my CB antenna mounted there and seemed to work good. good comment at 13:40! I'm nervous around people making bonfires when its so dry. some people don't make any attempt at precautions too. I just bout want to head out of the forest when I see that stuff.
my5 gallon water also froze solid and it was interior mounted but I wasn't inside my car to warm it up. I;m thinking of just utilizing a large bottle for the sleeping bag trick and morning water activities.

Great video! I know that road well and your camping spot - won’t mention it here online so we don’t have more crowds there than we already have to deal with 😀. I almost went out there this last weekend to do a little shooting, but domestic chores got in the way so I didn’t go and missed you! We’ll see you out there. I drive a 2020 TRD Pro in Army green, still completely stock, but already looking for mods. One recommendation for Phil is to put a wood chopping block under the log he is cutting with the axe - it will absorb the shock and make quicker work of the wood. Especially the Aspens👍

Are you a native to Co.? Just wondering. If not no big deal but I do appreciate you taking care of the State! I've noticed that about you. You always take care of it. I'm in Bayfield, I'm a 5th gen. native. Always good to see people taking care of this State!

The novelty does wear off sometime around January though, haha. Before the cold of winter even really kicks in.
