      Hey Mark, glad that you found the video useful. Yes, regardless of whether we have diabetes or other lifestyle-related chronic conditions currently, improving one's eating habits is still something every one of us, including myself, must always strive to do and continue to do better always. Healthy eating can be enjoyable too, it is not just important to choose healthy, it is also just as important to eat happy! I made a video on the importance of Eating Happy - ua-cam.com/video/qmDpJOJ42Ek/v-deo.html
      Have a blessed day. Cheers, Doc

      @@TheHabitsDoctor very good points, thanks for the feedback, I couldn't agree more. And as I've been consistently implementing these changes to my diet, I'm actually really enjoying the healthy food I'm cooking and it makes me feel so much better. Now I consistently make the same healthy salad every day and I look forward to it as I enjoy it. God bless Doc.

    Thank you. These are logical, clear and well done. I have been studying the insulin responses in my body since 2014. I normally eat very low carb with occasional indulgence. Your videos are great insightful. I eat gluten free, no histamine, and very low carb but have found that while nutrient dense foods are enjoyable, I sometimes need to broaden my food array, keeping it always gluten free and histamine free.

      Low carb diet is a killer diet. Our bodies are made for veggies, fruits and grains and not for fats and meat.

    • @lindamcneil711
      @lindamcneil711 Рік тому +1

      @@shakilahaider4034 nothing wrong with low carb. Low carb is not an exclusive case against fresh veggies and fiber. In fact, those that eat a whole food low carb diet tend to eat a large array of healthy vegetables.
      On the flip side, if you look at the nutrients that are essential for life, carbohydrates are not needed. Your body can make all the carbohydrates that are needed for energy. It cannot make all the proteins and essential vitamins and minerals inwhich all most all are found in meat. Additionally, fats are also essential. Your body can make cholesterol but it is expensive to do that.
      BTW, why are you trolling with anti-meat messages. Is there an agenda? Meat is healing. If you don't like it, that is cool, but it isn't cool to troll those that do use meat as part of a very healthy diet.

    I usually do blood tests and that includes sugar monitoring coz both of my parents has type 2 diabetes. Last sept 2023 my hba1c spiked to 6.1% though FBS and RBS are in normal range. I got scared. I don't want to have DM so i decided to do some lifesyle modification especially in my food intake. I tried my best to avoid softdrinks,sweets,and switch to brown rice,brown bread though there are cheat days😁😬 And just this Feb. 20, i got myself checked again and Thank God it became 5.1%🙏🙏

    I always explains with this analogy: "If you're late for work, do you choose to walk (White Rice) or Run (Brown Rice)? I'd rather take a Taxi ( Low Carb by reducing portion and types of food), much more effective. "

    I agree with what you said, but post meal blood sugar is not the only issue. Brown rice needs to be cooked in a pressure cooker, or else it is much worse than white rice. The issue is not the rise in blood sugar. The issue is lectins, which causes leaky gut, and this leads to most auto immune diseases. Type 2 diabetes is an auto immune disease. Cooking the brown rice the way you described in another video in a pressure cooker to reduce arsenic, and then refrigerating it overnight to increase the amount of resistant starch, is the best way to go. It is significantly better and it tastes wonderful. I cook and eat brown basmati rice because it is higher in resistant starch.

    My problem with brown rice is indigestion. I don't know why, but I am getting postpandrial diarrhea every single time when I have brown rice. Maybe Dr could give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

    • @nutrevolt
      @nutrevolt Рік тому +1

      It's the presence of LECTIN in brown rice...that's what many don't understand. It can't be digested by many why it causes diarrhea, indigestion Nd so on. So it shows your digestive system is not strong enough for lectin. You can either switch to white which has way less lectin cos it has been removed during processing or you choose another method of cooking the brown rice that will remove most of the lectins and increase the resistance starch in there for you for proper digestion. Cook in a pressure cooker...leave it to cool down completely or even refrigerate then warm when you wanna eat it. The longer it takes in cooling process, the more the resistance starch and the better. Hope this is helpful for you.

    I am looking at a brown rice label online. Serving size 42 grams. Total carbs (glucose plus fiber) 32 grams. Total fiber 2 grams. So it is 76% glucose. Table sugar is only 50% glucose. White rice about the same just without the 2 grams of fiber. What would you do? I wouldnt eat rice at all!

      Rice is a huge source of glucose, arguably more than table sugar or corn syrup. We dont need ANY glucose. Your liver makes all you need under the action of glucagon. All this glucose we consume raises insulin and causes hyperinsulemia and eventually diabetes. We evolved in an enironment that was not glucose rich.

      The best way to cook rice for a diabetic patient is cook fhe rice on the stove with little more than enought water to cover the rice, and after rice is cooked drain the starch... my way of cooking rice is after i drain the starch in a colander i rinse in water and put the rice in a pot and back to the stove or in a rice cooker to absorb the access water.. this way you get a unstarchy and healthy rice, could be brown red or white rice can be cook this way but always remember portion control is the key for a good low blood suger control..!
