Thank you doctor , I have type 2 diabetes and now I stopped eating white rice I am eating brown rice now , brown rice help me full faster than white rice. Also I eat 1 apple every day to help me not feeling hungry as much .
It was hard for the Doctor to say that all rice is a problem for a person with Diabetes.
Great, thorough explanation. Thank you!
Very helpful video Dr. Chan. I don't have diabetes but my dad and my grandmother both have diabetes, and I am overweight so I'm trying my best to change my eating habits forever in order to improve my overall health, feel better and of course to lose weight too.
Hey Mark, glad that you found the video useful. Yes, regardless of whether we have diabetes or other lifestyle-related chronic conditions currently, improving one's eating habits is still something every one of us, including myself, must always strive to do and continue to do better always. Healthy eating can be enjoyable too, it is not just important to choose healthy, it is also just as important to eat happy! I made a video on the importance of Eating Happy - ua-cam.com/video/qmDpJOJ42Ek/v-deo.html
Have a blessed day. Cheers, Doc
@@TheHabitsDoctor very good points, thanks for the feedback, I couldn't agree more. And as I've been consistently implementing these changes to my diet, I'm actually really enjoying the healthy food I'm cooking and it makes me feel so much better. Now I consistently make the same healthy salad every day and I look forward to it as I enjoy it. God bless Doc.

Very helpful. Thank you. God bless you.
Just always eat a small portion of brown rice. No more than 1 cup a day, and only eat it just before going for exercise or work
Good video.thanks. doctor.
Thank you Dr Chan
Excellent video, Dr. Chan! Thank you! I am borderline diabetic and trying very hard to stay active and make intelligent dietary choices.
Welcome, glad you found the video useful. Blessings, Dr Chan
Thank you so much Dr
Thank you Dr Chan. I am a paediatrician from PNG.
I thoroughly enjoyed the brown rice explanation.
Cheers
Thank you for your encouraging words
Thanks doc. I understand now.
Thank you. These are logical, clear and well done. I have been studying the insulin responses in my body since 2014. I normally eat very low carb with occasional indulgence. Your videos are great insightful. I eat gluten free, no histamine, and very low carb but have found that while nutrient dense foods are enjoyable, I sometimes need to broaden my food array, keeping it always gluten free and histamine free.
Low carb diet is a killer diet. Our bodies are made for veggies, fruits and grains and not for fats and meat.
@@shakilahaider4034 nothing wrong with low carb. Low carb is not an exclusive case against fresh veggies and fiber. In fact, those that eat a whole food low carb diet tend to eat a large array of healthy vegetables.
On the flip side, if you look at the nutrients that are essential for life, carbohydrates are not needed. Your body can make all the carbohydrates that are needed for energy. It cannot make all the proteins and essential vitamins and minerals inwhich all most all are found in meat. Additionally, fats are also essential. Your body can make cholesterol but it is expensive to do that.
BTW, why are you trolling with anti-meat messages. Is there an agenda? Meat is healing. If you don't like it, that is cool, but it isn't cool to troll those that do use meat as part of a very healthy diet.
Thank u for this video🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you found my video useful, Cheers! Doc
I usually do blood tests and that includes sugar monitoring coz both of my parents has type 2 diabetes. Last sept 2023 my hba1c spiked to 6.1% though FBS and RBS are in normal range. I got scared. I don't want to have DM so i decided to do some lifesyle modification especially in my food intake. I tried my best to avoid softdrinks, sweets, and switch to brown rice, brown bread though there are cheat days😁😬 And just this Feb. 20, i got myself checked again and Thank God it became 5.1%🙏🙏
👍 👍
❤Outstanding video,thanks doctor. Belchertown - Massachusetts.
Thanks for watching and your kind encouraging words. Blessings from Singapore
Thank you, Doctor. Now I have peace of mind.
Øk
white rice is very good for diabetes if combined with a low fat diet
Very informative topic
Glad you found it useful. Blessings, Dr Chan
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Meticulous analysis. Helpful.🎉
Better eat less carb and avoid sugar and fruit juice. Stay slim and healthy🙏🎉👍
hi Doctor is Genmaicha good?? or drink to improve sleep..
What happens if you first freeze the rice before cooking? Is it like bread that lowers glycemic index when frozen?
Thanks Dr.
You're welcome. Glad you found it useful. Blessings, Dr Chan
Dr can you make a video on the low sugar rice cooker? Is it true or just a marketing gimmick?
Which is good to lose weight doc redrice or brown rice
Thank you Dr. Chan.
Hi Doctor Chan,
In one of the video's you said that arsenik in white rice is lower than brown rice . What happen if I start to eat brown rice instead of white rice almost every day . I am from Asia and we eat rice almost every day. Sorry for my English
As much as I know from my experience is even brown rice has to be consumed in a limited amount brown has fibre due to the bran still it has starch content in it
Doctor i have sub clinical level hypothyroidism and and some diabetes issues too because of thyroid problem i can't use wheet products and rice is not better choice for diabetes so what food i prefer to eat
Thank you for this, Doctor.
Glad that you found the video useful. Cheers, Doc
I always explains with this analogy: "If you're late for work, do you choose to walk (White Rice) or Run (Brown Rice)? I'd rather take a Taxi ( Low Carb by reducing portion and types of food), much more effective. "
hmmm..... your analogy is a little 'cheem' (complicated), especially for the many aunties/uncles I coach, :-). Thanks for sharing!
Why would anyone intentionally substitute TWO or THREE bowls of brown rice? I don't understand that analogy. Yes, I'm sure 1-to-1 substitution is the actual question...
I agree with what you said, but post meal blood sugar is not the only issue. Brown rice needs to be cooked in a pressure cooker, or else it is much worse than white rice. The issue is not the rise in blood sugar. The issue is lectins, which causes leaky gut, and this leads to most auto immune diseases. Type 2 diabetes is an auto immune disease. Cooking the brown rice the way you described in another video in a pressure cooker to reduce arsenic, and then refrigerating it overnight to increase the amount of resistant starch, is the best way to go. It is significantly better and it tastes wonderful. I cook and eat brown basmati rice because it is higher in resistant starch.
Tqvm Dr for taking your time to explain. What if I don't take brown rice, but I cooked white rice with lots of water then discard the starch. Is it alright Dr?
Hello doc i am from india. I wanna ask you that can we reduce the glycemic load of rice if we take salad or some high fiber food with it?
My problem with brown rice is indigestion. I don't know why, but I am getting postpandrial diarrhea every single time when I have brown rice. Maybe Dr could give me some advice? Thanks in advance.
It's the presence of LECTIN in brown rice...that's what many don't understand. It can't be digested by many why it causes diarrhea, indigestion Nd so on. So it shows your digestive system is not strong enough for lectin. You can either switch to white which has way less lectin cos it has been removed during processing or you choose another method of cooking the brown rice that will remove most of the lectins and increase the resistance starch in there for you for proper digestion. Cook in a pressure cooker...leave it to cool down completely or even refrigerate then warm when you wanna eat it. The longer it takes in cooling process, the more the resistance starch and the better. Hope this is helpful for you.
Thanks Dr. I ate brown rice instead of white rice with my dinner tonight, always eat in small portions, and have been on a special diabetic diet since 8/25 and my blood sugars are improving :)
The cause of diabetes 2 is saturated animal fat
White Rice here doesn’t include Basmati White Rice?
I am looking at a brown rice label online. Serving size 42 grams. Total carbs (glucose plus fiber) 32 grams. Total fiber 2 grams. So it is 76% glucose. Table sugar is only 50% glucose. White rice about the same just without the 2 grams of fiber. What would you do? I wouldnt eat rice at all!
Im confused on your comment
Rice is a huge source of glucose, arguably more than table sugar or corn syrup. We dont need ANY glucose. Your liver makes all you need under the action of glucagon. All this glucose we consume raises insulin and causes hyperinsulemia and eventually diabetes. We evolved in an enironment that was not glucose rich.
Is it true that not consuming direct carbohydrates like brown rice , oats ,quinoa can reverse type 2 diabetes
Just always eat a small portion of brown rice. No more than 1 cup a day, and only eat it just before going for exercise or working . Don't eat brown rice past 3 pm.
ALL GRAINS SPIKE BLOOD SUGARS
it’s sad u have to explain the logic of exact substitution. i continue to eat white rice but reduce the portion!
Is brown rice good for bedridden person with diabetes And had a bad stroke And only eating through PEG, i was giving a 400grams white rice, 3 boiled egg, 120g banana/papaya 60g carrots/chayotes/pumpkin, 80ml low fat milk, and 20ml olive oil, the blood sugar keeps on 200-300+
How to avoid diabetic?
Hi doctor, may I know if brown rice cook with two - three drop vinegar, is it good for body?
The best way to cook rice for a diabetic patient is cook fhe rice on the stove with little more than enought water to cover the rice, and after rice is cooked drain the starch... my way of cooking rice is after i drain the starch in a colander i rinse in water and put the rice in a pot and back to the stove or in a rice cooker to absorb the access water.. this way you get a unstarchy and healthy rice, could be brown red or white rice can be cook this way but always remember portion control is the key for a good low blood suger control..!
Let me know the answer please
Wait wait! Making brown rice porridge makes brown rice worse? Is that because of the extra cooking?
Porridge reaches the blood stream very fast...
All rice should be eliminated at least for a couple of years until your health greatly improves. The worst word in trying to get healthy is. " moderation". Eliminate the problem food.
What is wrong with these people can't they test themselves after a meal to find out for themselves?
Hard to understand what you are saying even your pesentationatio
SO IS IT OR IS IT NOT?!?!?!?!??!?!?! ENOUGH WITH THE CLICKBAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watch the video it’s not that difficult. He explains it very thoroughly
Bro. You're hoping for a magic bullet? Hear the video again. The answer is there
This is basically another case of someone who just wants to hear themselves talk I asked one question and I get a whole 6 minute speech... yes or no
It’s a question with a nuanced answer. There’s no need to insult a professional because they’re trying to be thorough.
Overruled. The doctor's information was helpful. God bless you.
If your question was ( is brown rice good for people with diabetes? ), then the answer is definitely ( no ).
ADHD is a serious problem. Have you considered getting it treated?
@@BsmLythat's not what he said he said the brown rice is better than the white rice.
Hi doctor. What do u think about black.rice. Is it good for la santé
